** Besides this just being a standard holdover for most blue-collar sitcoms where the family's net worth seems to fluctuate with the plot, the Lopezes live in a fairly spacious house in a very expensive part of the country. Angie's wedding planner job isn't a consistent source of income like George's, and he has to support a four-to-six-person family who doesn't really respect the value of money. Vic had half his assets taken in his divorce, and even if he hadn't, he still isn't the type to just give money away without expecting it to be paid back.

** California is a no-fault divorce state. So unless there was a prenuptial agreement, or if she could prove that Vic physically abused her, the nature of their divorce does not affect the splitting of assets. Especially if all of their property was jointly in their names.

*** That would be a great explanation if it wasn't for the fact that he actually encouraged, and even forced, Max to take the special ed classes the school was transferring him to. Then he ended up ensuring Max would stay in those classes in a later season. Granted he can by hypocritical, but it seems like it would be a stretch for him to be hypocritical in this area.

Ranting. Question has been answered several times over.

how can anyone defend the brat carmen. She legit was a cool character the first 2 seasons end of the 3rd she got horrible. She knew this guy was a asshole a drop out, had been in trouble with the law and had a history of treating girls bad but she dates him? behind her parents back knowing they wouldn't approve, her parents who protected her, cared for her gave her a great life. Better then george, who cares if they are tough, a lot of hispanic families are much tougher and far more strict and not as good off as the lopez family. She keeps being selfish and starts drama with her dad and mom who are looking out for her and she always brought up how she hated being treated like a kid. SHE WAS 15 SHE WAS A KID. george finally says well leave then. Every right to since she did not want to follow rules and lied to her parents more then i think i have in my whole life in like 1 season . She then during her brothers day, runs away making it about her, carmen ruiend a bunch of max's big days. She then hangs out with a bunch of punks. She comes home wanting to go out right away (WTF) then she tries be a sneaky bitch about she wants to be an adult and saying she will run away again if she doesn't get what she wants. I'm glad angie finally took georges side and said go then.

*** An explanation from someone who took classes in college on alcoholism-having the occasional drink does not make someone a "drunk". Being drunk all the time does. None of the previous episodes mentioned anything about Benny being drunk while she was around George, Tammy meanwhile was drunk at 10 in the morning and had no clue where her own son was, so that's not really a continuity error.

*** My guess is that you experienced a similar situation and are siding with Carmen because you relate to her, because I don't understand how someone can be on Carmen's side after all she keeps doing, something Benny and at times even Vick point out how she keeps doing this things because they are incredibly lenient with her: she pretends to be a slut to be cool, she runs away with her boyfriend (who already got a girl pregnant and does whatever he want) she sneaked out to go into her other boyfriend Jason's house who was now living alone and they threw a party where someone brought drugs, she convinced George and Angy to then make her boyfriend live in their house (he wasn't gonna be left homeless he was going to move back with his rich parents) and then she wants to get married (at 17) with him, and when they don't approve she wants to get pregnant on purpose so they have to get married, seriously what really bugged me is that she never got any reprecutions for any of those things (she falsely got the reputation of a slut at school but that wasn't really her fault so it counts more as she being a victim of bad people and not a result of her actions) after a while I came to the conclusion that the show was trying to show people how wrong it is to raise your child that way.

*** I was the one who made the original complain about Carmen, and I'm not defending George but he at least gets called out on all of those thing you mention (he says she didn't raised her as good as he could, he gets called out even by Benny for his favoritism over Max and him not understanding that not everything is teenage drama) and its true George overreacted, but that's it, he was given reasons to be angry, just that he took it up a notch, and he does show that he cares for Carmen since he was complaining that she shouldn't go out with someone who told him directly he just wanted to get in her pants and who is known by everyone to be that kind of guy, he cares for Carmen, he put his work on the line twice on the same episode for her. I would had sided more with her if Angy would had acted at least reasonably mad at her, but she keeps defending her and comforting her, it's a big of a selfish decision to run away with your boyfriend when you only have reason to think that only "one" of your parents wants you gone since the other keeps being understanding even when you're wrong. The top reason I think it was really more spoilness/brattiness than George behavior is how she keeps threatening with running away when all they're doing is just not bending over to her every whim (letting her be dependant on them but do whatever she wants, something that even Earny who is in the same situation but it's actually an adult would be wrong for doing) taking so much advantage of Angy until she has enough and realizes that it's only furthering Carmen's behavior. As for your original thoughts on why Angy doesn't just leaves George, well even on this page you'll see complains on Angy, Max and of course Carmen, so the whole family is screwed, not just him.

* Throughout the show Ernie's been portrayed as someone who will desperately hit on any woman in hopes of getting a date(to the point of hitting on Gina), yet somehow he never once tried to hit on Marisol? In the handful of episodes where they interact with one another, he does not show the least bit of attraction to her despite her being a pretty attractive woman, just seems a bit OutOfCharacter to me.

*** A particular one that sticks out to me is the episode where it's revealed Vic's new fiancé Lindsay is cheating on him. At the end he reveals he called Angie's mother Emilina and that she wants to get back together with him, after their divorce which had been an ongoing and significant storyline for several seasons. Then it's revealed shortly after Emilina passed away before she could see Vic again to reconcile. It would already be sad enough for Angie to lose her mother, especially after she had largely been estranged from her for a few years, but to throw out some detail about how she decided to want to repair her old marriage right before she passed away just comes off as trying to add extra angst for no real reason.

** The real question is how Benny was able to keep George after the "lemon tree incident."

** George is quite prideful and loves bringing up how he went from having nothing to managing the entire factory by himself. He wouldn't want special services for disabled students.

* Does anyone else wonder why George didn't just tell his former economics teacher that he has dyslexia back when he was still a college student? Angie seems like one who would look up online for services that disabled students could receive at the college, yet apparently she didn't. Plus, George could have gotten tested by the college, so no documentation isn't a problem.

** If any of you remember, it's been highly implied that Benny's Mom is worse than Benny herself. To recap, she smacked Benny twice when her boobs came out. Once in case she thought of doing something, and then again in case she liked it. Besides being mentioned as "old world," Ernie said "she gave birth to Benny" or something to that effect. That has more than one meaning.
