** Well, to address point with Lisa, she probably figured that Ponyo was one Sousuke's new friends from school (or from the beach) and so figured that the backstory of how they met, while Toki, with how old she might be (80s-90s), was kid during a time where you tended to hear mythical tales of the [[https://yokai.com/ningyo/ ningyo]] (or when magical things were more overt) and so concluded that Ponyo was bad luck. As far as Ponyo being called a "goldfish", well, she looks like a variety of goldfish([[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oranda these ones]] in particular), though it could be read a bit a of wordplay, as "ningyo" (human fish) is one letter off from "kingyo" (goldfish) and Sousuke probably wouldn't know the difference anyways.
