**** I always assumed that they were sonic weaponry. The effects the weapons produce (concussive impact, but no/low direct damage to target) are very similar to what I would expect from a high powered infrasound pulse. It would also explain the weird ripple effect and noise they produce and the fact that they are effective in water as well as in air. It's not exactly hard sci-fi, but it's also not completely soft either.

** Unless his company was actually contracted to build nukes, he'd have had to run his own programme in total secrecy. Running a nuclear weapons programme in total secrecy is harder than you think. The technologies, personnel and raw material required are closely scrutinised, for obvious reasons, and if anyone gets suspicious, a transnational corporation is far more vulnerable to investigation than a rogue state. The nanomites, on the other hand, MARS was actually contracted by NATO to build, so any activity related to them didn't need to be secret at all.

*** But they SHOULD have been looking for it. This is a highly classified military base whose very location is a closely-guarded secret. They have to be practising emission control, simply in order to keep their own radio signals from compromising them, never mind anyone else's, which means they ought to be monitoring every conceivable frequency. For that matter, the presence of what appears to be a good sixty feet of water above the command centre, plus god knows how much steel and concrete ought to block anything except an Extremely Low Frequency transmission - and transmitters for those are about fifty miles long.

So how was the tracking signal from the case not picked up? ** It's not like French authorities could actually stop Cobra. Not to insult them, but MARS and their soldiers are way out of their league, and asking them for help would result in a pile of dead French agents.

* So MARS managed to build an elaborate UnderwaterBase complete with 3 ICBMs without the Joes or anybody else noticing. It's only when they steal the nanites that the plot starts. What bugs me is that MARS never ''needed'' their super nanomachines for their plot to work. They would have caused global chaos just as well with ordinary nuclear warheads, which would have been far easier to steal, buy or even make themselves. Heck, they probably even had a few lying around if they really supplied 70some percent of the world's weapons.

* We've all been thinking about this the wrong way. It was ice and it was sinking... but ''that wasn't sea water!''

* VillainBall: Cobra has MindControl nanomites. Why use the big metal eating ones when they could just covertly infect the leaders of the world and start a nanomachine ZombieApocalypse/invasion of the body snatcherts? I mean, they're ''nanomachines'', a french kiss would be enough to spread the mind control.

** Once again not FridgeLogic, but there is a difference: The Team America example caused alot more damage than the bomb would have done while the GIJoe team managed to reduce the level of damage that would have resulted.
* How didn't this get mentioned? At the end of the movie the cobra base is destroyed by falling ICE! WTH, last tme I checked ice can FLOAT!

* The nanotechnology can do practically anything someone wanted them to do. Warheads, building super soldiers, controlling minds, healing....The man who invented them and is working on them doesn't even use them to fix his scarred face or his damaged lungs. The warheads are also described as consuming metal and continuing onward from there as long as there is metal. Cobra must hurry to the Eiffel Tower in Paris to fire the rocket instead of shooting it anywhere else and haveing the nanobots eventually get to the Tower and consume it then.

* After the Joes are arrested in Paris, resident techy guy Breaker (played by Saïd Taghmaoui) starts speaking to the French officials in English. Yelling English, to be exact; like the way people normally talk to foreigners. His character had been speaking in a subtly French accent throughout the entire movie, so I just kind of assumed he was Moroccan. THEY SPEAK FRENCH IN MOROCCO. WHY IS HE NOT SPEAKING FRENCH TO THEM?
** Yes. He even begins in French before switching to English -it really doesn't make sense.
