* In Kumiko's backstory, when she was a child she hid in a closet as her grandfather and a Yakuza boss from another family came in to talk business. Kumiko's grandfather had failed his ally somehow and is about to cut off his own finger as penance. Not wanting to see her grandfather hurt himself, she jumps out and declares she will cut off her finger and proceeds to start. Both men are shocked and her grandfather tells her to stop. Kumiko answers that her grandfather is old and his finger won't grow back. Her grandfather points out neither will her finger. This breaks her confident persona and she starts to freak out as the blade is already in her hand. The fellow yakuza laughs at this innocence and spunk in this girl, tells her grandfather the debt is paid and permits him to take Kumiko to the hospital.
* In one later series chapter, the chairman of the school knows Kumiko's secret and wants to fire her, but doesn't have the justification to do it. So he plans to engineer some by calling in the head of the alumni association of the school and the Parent-Teacher Alliance President. The former is a man Kumiko already met and impressed when she dressed as a male student to observe how he screens her students for job opportunities and made it to the final challenge before outing herself. The latter is a fellow yakuza from an allied family to Kumiko's. He knows Kumiko because of their family's history together with the above mentioned knife incident, and how she brought to his attention his son being a SpoiledBrat calling on his men to beat up anyone who gave him lip. The yakuza had no idea she is also his son's teacher. Both men think the chairman wants to ''protect'' Kumiko and they unknowingly pressure him into a blood oath to not reveal her secret to anyone else. Once the meeting is over, the chairman is in despair over this further failure.
