* Sloth's dislike for his brother's singing may seem like a case of the former being a "tough crowd", despite that the latter's singing is more than decent. But then one learns of Mama Fratelli's influence on his physical and mental state, and it all makes sense. Sloth isn't bothered by his brother's singing because it's bad, he's bothered because it sets him off.
* Probably an obvious one but the four main Goonies, Michael (Mikey), Clark (Mouth), Richard (Data) and Lawrence (Chunk), are all primarily known by their nicknames. Honorary Goonies are Brandon (Brand), Andrea (Andy) and Stephanie (Stef). Also, note that Sloth's real name is Lotney.

* Mama Fratelli's interrogation methods with the blender. Even more chilling when you realize this was just for starters if Chunk didn't talk. (Though it's important to keep in mind, she may have been bluffing.)
* Chester Copperpot's demise. His legs are crushed, he's pinned under a boulder and doubtlessly in tremendous agony. And there's nobody to help him. Since the legs don't contain vital organs, he probably lingered like this until he died of shock or thirst... and that could have taken days on end.
** They do contain some very powerful arteries, though. He could have bled to death in minutes if they were severed. Not pleasant, but certainly not as bad as dying of thirst.

* "Break...FALL...!" can easily be this. It's almost as if the film's implying that the entire reason for Sloth's physical and mental deformities are the result of his being dropped as a baby. What a disturbing thing in a kid's movie!

** Ma Fratelli confirms it as she admits to dropping Sloth once when he was a baby. Or twice.

* FridgeBrilliance: How did a Spanish ship end up in Astoria, Oregon? Well, the Spanish did explore that far north when they were sailing up and down the coast of what is now the United States in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was also disputed territory between Spain (claiming it from the south) and England (coming from the east) at the time.
** But there was no Panama Canal... so to leave the Caribbean, The Inferno had to go around South America. That's an insanely long trip.

** Slapstick or not, Troy's cruel prank on Brand could be construed (and charged) as attempted murder.

Not fridge logic or brilliance

Fridge Logic

* When Mikey brings the jewels off the ship, he hasn't just laid claim to a few pretty rocks. Under US and international maritime salvage law, the rights to a salvage vessel and its contents go to the person or persons who first successfully brings something off the vessel in question. Since Mikey was that person for Willy's ship, his is the ship and everything that's in it!

Fridge Brilliance
* The traps in the cave still functioning after so many centuries. If you think about it, a lot of those traps should have been instantly lethal but the kids manage to escape them by the skin on their teeth. So the Goonies have the ravages of time to thank for not being horrifically killed when they set them off.
