** Knowing Hiruma, he probably told the referee that it’s just their usual routine of punching/kicking teammates to praise/encourage them.

** You can't punch someone during time out either and the whole point was to have the Naga and stadium witness it as part of a gambit the ref should have seen it or someone report it.

** Kurita and Gaou. It was previously mentioned that Gaou is better when it comes to upper body strength, while Kurita is better when it comes to lower body strength and experience. Their training benefits both sides, as Kurita learned how to utilize his upper body strength better, while Gaou got to gather more experiences playing football [[spoiler:which explains his massive improvement during World Youth Cup arc.]]

** Why did Ishimaru, a player borrowed from other club, needs to be trained while the other borrowed players didn’t? Because he’s a NiceGuy who had helped the Devilbats since the very beginning, and his unnoticeable presence might come in handy when the Alexanders’ defense is going to focus on the Devilbats’ key players. It’s essentially his ThrowTheDogABone moment.

team. And with both Hiruma and Kid still recovering from their injury, those two are the next best quarterbacks when it comes to passes.
* The Tokyo Fall Tournament’s quarterfinals had three of the teams associated with the sea losing. You could say that [[StealthPun they’ve fallen to the bottom of the sea]].

** Musashi did that when Deimon called for a timeout, and presumably, without the referee looking. Agon punched his teammate during the game and with the referee looking in front of them.

* The only other occasion where Deimon Devilbats has to use their mostly white “away” uniform is for the match against Bando Spiders. Why? Because the Spiders’ uniform is mostly red with black (blue in the anime) and white tints, like the “home” uniform of the Devilbats. From the spectators’ perspective, it’d be difficult to differ the two teams of which uniforms have similar color scheme, and so one of the teams had to switch to their “away” uniforms. Since the Devilbats’ “away” uniform was first and last seen in Taiyou match, which happened more than 100 chapters ago, it’s also a perfect opportunity to remind the readers that this uniform exists.

exists. And since the anime never bothered to have a second uniform for the Devilbats, this is also the reason why the black part of the Spiders’ uniform got changed to blue there.
* Some regarding the all-stars coaching that the Devilbats underwent before the Christmas Bowl:
** The main page mentions that Hiruma and Musashi didn’t need training at all because they’re already the best at their job. However, [[http://www.mangareader.net/eyeshield-21/280/6 Hiruma was seen consulting things with Kid in one panel]]. The same panel also shows Tetsuma training Yukimitsu. Considering how Hiruma’s pass game with Yukimitsu is basically the same as Kid and Tetsuma’s, in a way Hiruma was trained by Kid to utilize Option Route better.
** Komusubi and Ootawara. Aside from being a CallBack to the chapter when Komusubi learned to do a rib, training with Ootawara can make Komusubi a LightningBruiser PintSizedPowerhouse.
** Kurita and Gaou. It was previously mentioned that Gaou is better when it comes to upper body strength, while Kurita is better when it comes to lower body strength and experience. ** Togano and Banba. What’s the better way to train a MightyGlacier than to pit him against a StoneWall?

Because he’s a NiceGuy who had helped the Devilbats since the very beginning, and his unnoticeable presence might come in handy when the Alexanders’ defense is going to focus on the Devilbats’ key players. It’s essentially his ThrowTheDogABone moment.
** How did Akaba manage to teach [[TheDitz Taki]] [[DifficultButAwesome Spider Poison?]] They’re “musically fit” with each other and, as an earlier chapter revealed, Taki is ridiculously good at learning things as long as they’re put on football terms.
** Unsui and Takami were also seen training the Devilbats because someone had to replace Hiruma during mock matches to strengthen them as a team.

* Hiruma stated just before the Hakushuu match that it wouldn’t have mattered if Sena and Marco traded their numbers during the matching session, because the final match would still be Deimon vs Hakushuu anyway. The horror part comes from the realization that in order to achieve that, Hakushuu would’ve broken the nine-times-unbeatable champion and Deimon’s ultimate rival, both of which are hyped since the start of the series, with sheer brute force and some manipulations from Marco. It’s one thing to see Banba and all three of Seibu’s aces got beaten, but imagine that happens to '''''[[TheGift Agon]]''''' and '''''[[TheRival Shin]]''''', let alone [[CareerEndingInjury Takami]]...

* I realized this while re-watching the Death March. They start in Texas, and go through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. In short, some of the hottest states in the country. They're also in the middle of summer. Summers in Texas usually range from 95 to 100 degrees ferinheight, and will probably climb 5 to 10 degrees in the middle of a desert. So, the Devil Bats are training day and night, in 100º plus weather, and barely enough water. Damn.¸

* When the world cup reveals that Agon actually want his brother to stand for himself lot of past interaction makes more sense even the EarlyInstallmentWeirdness where Unsui gets to scream at Agon. While Agon still make fun of his brother, it's way less harmful than how he treat everyone else, even his insult are more like Hiruma's than his usual trash talk. He tries to get on Unsui's nerve to make him react and while he would kill say, Yamabushi, for talking back he lets Unsui get away with more because while still a Jerkass, he doesn't hate his brother.
