** I think I know what he meant. {{Norm MacDonald}} did nothing but G-Rated jokes at what was meant to be an R-Rated event (the Scoundrel's Joke went something like this: If you see a sign that says 'Gentlemen', pay no heed. Walk right in. There's no sign that says 'Scoundrels'). When everyone else was trying to be as vulgar as possible, the only way to stand out from the crowd was to be squeaky clean. If you didn't realize what he was doing, you probably would've thought he was just a terrible comic, but once you finally "got it", you'd realize that the real joke was that {{Norm MacDonald}} was actually criticizing "one of the lowest forms of comedy". It was pretty brilliant IMHO.

** I understood it. It just wasn't funny. Marlee Matlin, on the other hand, is a far more high brow person than {{Norm MacDonald}}, and killed them by going the other route.
