* The unnamed narrator in the first book has a moment of this when he thinks a little too hard about Firo and Ennis's relationship and realizes that, [[spoiler:since Ennis was a part of Szilard and Szilard is now a part of Firo via CannibalismSuperpower]], Firo can technically be seen as [[ScrewYourself screwing himself]]. He wisely decides not to voice this thought in front of Firo. [[spoiler:Although the narrator of the first book is Firo himself.]]

* I had one about ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'' thanks to another troper. I had previously added an example citing Claire as a SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer. Another troper mentioned that this is also true of the characters connected to the Daily Days. Then a third noted the reason for this, which is where the briliance come in- ''reporters don't report on themselves'', and the series is through the lens of that paper's reporting on the Flying Pussyfoot incident- @/{{Jordan}}
* Another more common piece of FridgeBrilliance is the eventual reveal of why Jacuzzi, the most [[ShrinkingViolet timid]] character in the whole series would have the most attention-drawing feature, his huge [[EmbarrassingTattoo jagged sword tattoo]]. It seems especially incongruous when you see that the tattoo is being used to identify him on his wanted posters. Turns out it's a [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming CMOH]]: Jacuzzi got it after his best friend and later girlfriend Nice [[spoiler: scarred herself horribly after an explosives accident]], so they could match and she wouldn't be alone in being stared at.

** The television show thing is just anime original material and {{Cameo}} eyecandy though, Baccano characters in fact exist and interact with the Durarara cast from time to time. There's no ShowWithinAShow in the [[TheVerse Naritaverse]] when taking into account only the Light Novels canon.
* If Ladd didn't talk about one day killing Lua, their relationship would be kind of.....Normal.
** Except that both would still be insane, and it's pretty hard to put two insane people together and call that "normal".

* When you only follow the anime, it seems strange that later on Claire [[spoiler: introduces himself as formerly being Claire Stanfield and is no longer a conductor]], until remembering that [[spoiler: Dune of the Russo Family had red hair, was close to Claire's height, stole a conductor's uniform earlier and had his face '''completely smashed''' beyond recognition. Turns out the police pronounced Claire dead because Dune fit the description best]]!

to:

* The awkward moment [[spoiler: you realise the rail tracer - Claire Stanfield - has been in the opening credits all this time]]. Not only that, he's [[spoiler: holding a bottle of wine. His assassin nickname is Vino.]]

** Wait. Isn't it revealed that the narrator of the first book is [[spoiler:Firo]]?
*** Not him, but the unnamed Japanese tourist with the stolen camera. His narration frames [[spoiler:Firo's]] narration.

* When you realize that [[spoiler:thanks to his immortality,]] Dallas [[spoiler:is continually drowning to death]] in the opening.
** Prick deserved it.

* Also notable is that Isaac and Miria performed the [[PostEpisodeTrailer post-episode trailers]] as if they were actually watching the show and guessing what would be in the next episode. Take into account that [[spoiler:they're immortals living within the [[TheVerse Naritaverse]], where Baccano is actually a television show by the time the events of the {{Durarara}} anime start (Baccano plays on the big screen TV in the middle of town in some shots). ]]Isaac and Miria could very well have been watching themselves on television in-universe without actually breaking the FourthWall at all; just talking to each other about the episodes.

* The interactions between Czes and Fermet are already horrifying, but take a look at [[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/Ensuing/Baccano12/Baccano_33.jpg this screenshot]]. Judging from the camera angle and Fermet and Czeslaw's respective positions, Fermet could only accomplish this by sitting ''directly on top of Czeslaw's chest''. And Czeslaw shows no reaction to this, which implies that Fermet positions himself like that a lot. There's something [[MemeticMolester really disturbing]] about how intimate Fermet likes to get with Czes, and it gives a [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything whole new perspective]] on some of the things Czes says to people when he feels threatened...

* Before being saved by [[spoiler: Chane]], young Mary was being attacked by a goon who specifically talks about how he only enjoys preying on those weaker than him, with some comments that seem to imply a sexual nature to his attack.

* Despite all common sense, Elmer being both an altruistic AntiNihilist and an [[LackOfEmpathy emotionally hollow psychopath]] is not as entirely contradictory as it sounds once you realize that most psychopaths are [[http://scan.oxfordjournals.org/content/5/1/59.short incredibly]] [[http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3671176/ apathetic]] [[http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0010027711001351 utilitarians]].
