* AllLovingHero: Snow White of course. When she's freed from her cell, she immediately tries to free the other prisoner Greta. During the siege in the river village, she spends her time trying to get everyone to safety, her kindness charms the dwarfs and she shows William no ill-will for not rescuing her as children. She can also feel only pity for Ravenna, despite having every reason to hate her.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Snow White's (as an adult) is comforting a terrified girl in the cell across from her, showing that she remains just as good-hearted as when she was a child.

* FurAndLoathing: Ravenna has a few furs as part of her elaborate outfits.

* IdiotBall: The only times Ravenna and Finn let go of it seems to be when they pass it to the other. Examples include Finn revealing to the Huntsman that Ravenna lied about bringing his wife BackFromTheDead before securing Snow White and later that he raped and killed the Huntsman's wife. Ravenna tells Snow White exactly how to kill her. And when the heroes are stuck right outside Ravenna's castle, the guards wait until the gate is opened to pour boiling oil on the heroes and set it ablaze.

* IdiotBall: The only times Finn and Ravenna and Finn let go of it seems are unwise enough to be hold this when they pass it to the other. Examples include have characters seemingly at their mercy:
**
Finn revealing to tells the Huntsman that Ravenna lied about bringing being able to bring his wife BackFromTheDead before securing back from the dead, presumably because they'd found Snow White and later didn't need his help to get out of the forest. He didn't however think that he raped and killed such a revelation would inspire the Huntsman's wife. Huntsman to fight back.
**
Ravenna tells Snow White exactly how to kill her. And when she is the heroes are stuck only one who could have destroyed her, right outside Ravenna's castle, after she's eaten the guards wait until the gate is opened to pour boiling oil on the heroes poisoned apple. The others show up right after this, and set it ablaze.Ravenna has to suddenly retreat.

* InformedAttractiveness: Snow White is ''constantly'' described as being more beautiful than Ravenna, who is played by Creator/CharlizeTheron. Some of it is explained as being about ''inner'' beauty, but that itself is an InformedAttribute. See below.
* InformedAttribute: Snow White is supposed to be so loving, compassionate and full of life that people fall in love with her only by looking at her, something that is brought up over and over again. However, she never displays a greater amount of emotion or caring than several other characters of the film - and often displays it ''less'' then they do.

* LargeHam: The Queen, and ''how.''
** Hamminess must run in the family, because her brother Finn definitely has his moments as well. Some of the best examples are when he makes the mistake of revealing to the Huntsman that Ravenna lied to him about being able to bring his wife back ''before'' he hands Snow White to him, and of course, shortly afterwards when the Huntsman pushes him into a pit of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

* LettingHerHairDown: Done the other way round. Ravenna has her hair down only at the start, when she's thought to be an innocent maiden. After she's conquered the kingdom, her hair is only ever shown up.

* MagicMirror: Here, it is an outright MirrorMonster which at one point looks like a shout-out to [[http://voltashow.com/Kevin-Francis-Gray.2830.0.html this sculpture]].
** Arguably subverted. Finn looks upon Ravenna while she talks to the mirror-man... Only to find that she's talking to nothing, implying that it's all just in her head.

The sequel confirms the mirror is magic [[spoiler: as Ravenna's spirit goes inside it]].

* MakeUpIsEvil: Ravenna wears ExcessiveEvilEyeshadow. Snow White's red lips do not qualify as they are supposedly natural.
** Plus that they are more pinkish than blood-red, even though the Queen explicitly requested "lips red as blood".

* MedievalEuropeanFantasy / FantasyCounterpartCulture: The Land is clearly based on medieval Britain, and various regional accents amongst the cast (RP, Cockney, Scots etc) are used to complement the setting -- Indeed, all location shooting took place in some very picturesque sylvan and mountainous regions of the UK. Christianity exists among natural deities, fairies, trolls, dwarves, and dark magic. It's also alluded that the huntsman is a veteran of UsefulNotes/TheCrusades. Also shown is a Muslim-esque fishing village, where the women wrap their hair and hide their faces. Snow White also says the Lord's Prayer in the beginning of the movie.

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: The Huntsman has a Scottish accent, which clashes with Chris Hemsworth's lovely Australian accent every so often, but for the most part it holds up well. Somewhat justified as his character is drunk half the time.
** Charlize Theron's English accent slips in and out, too.

* UnexplainedRecovery: It's surprising how little anyone bats an eyelid when Snow White casually walks out, perfectly alive, of the castle wherein she was laid out ''while dead''. Apparently, in this universes, TrueLovesKiss can just do that.
** Perhaps the poisoned apple was only meant to disable and not kill? Maybe the heart still needed to be beating. It could have worn off. [[FridgeLogic Not that the others would have known that.]]

* HelmetsAreHardlyHeroic: Snow White rides into battle in full armour, but no helmet. [[IdiotBall In a battle where they are storming a castle and getting a lot of things dropped, poured and thrown on them]]. That might qualify as FridgeBrilliance since Snow White is the leader and symbol of the rebellion, so she has to be recognizable to give hope to her fellow rebels and the oppressed population. Helmeted fighters tend to be FacelessGoons, and Snow White is a princess. But maybe they could have gotten a gold plated helmet for her that sort of looked like a crown.

* InformedAttractiveness: Snow White is played by Creator/KristenStewart, who isn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination.
