* IdiotBall: Calvin Bouchard. He obviously has little to no working knowledge of marine life or structural engineering, yet constantly overrides his expert staff. First, he ignores Kay's orders as chief marine biologist to keep the captured great white in the tank until she says its ready to move again (killing the only great white in captivity shortly after doing so), then during the tunnel rescue operation he orders the straining filtration pipes (where the shark is being contained) pump shut down because he's worried about the cost of replacing it.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Bouchard orders the filtration pipe pump shut down right in the middle of the operation to fix the underwater tunnels, fully aware that they were used to keep the shark confined. He's more worried about the cost of the pump if it burns out, and incorrectly assumes that the locked grate will keep that gigantic thing in the pipe.

** The shark also eats one of its victims by chewing it. Sharks use their teeth to cut their food off their victims. They don't chew their food.

** The mother shark in this film is also gigantic. An estimated 35ft in length. The largest Great Whites in real life typically don't reach any longer than 20ft (with 23ft being the maximum accepted size estimate).

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Kelly, who kicks off her sandals to get into a bumper boat barefoot. Her job at SeaWorld probably doesn't let her wear shoes very often, anyway.

* AccidentallyAccurate: The young white shark dies from the stress of being moved into a display tank while it's still recovering from its capture. In RealLife, no aquarium has yet kept a juvenile great white for longer than a few months, but it's because they're seldom willing to eat in captivity and have to be released before they starve.
