* AssholeVictim: Bob Morton. Morton is not as much of an insane monster as Dick Jones, but he is still a ridiculously selfish, empathy-deficient asshole to pretty much everybody he interacts with. Alas, it's downplayed in that he's [[ALighterShadeOfBlack not entirely unsympathetic]] and his demise is [[AlasPoorVillain not played for satisfaction at all]].

* AccidentallyAccurate: The movie used the then-new Ford Taurus as it's police cars just because it looked "futuristic". A few years later the Taurus actually did come into wide use as a police vehicle.

* OutsideContextHero: After Murphy is rebuilt into a cyborg, he spends most of the film relentlessly haunting and taking down criminals in Old Detroit. Robo Cop is so beyond anything they have ever experience that they're completely helpless before him and he takes down the drug lords who murdered him without taking any damage. A newscaster in the movie compared it to a comic book hero coming to life. It takes the criminals gaining access to military weapons and help from the big number two at OCP just to slow Robo Cop down.

* WarOnCops: Clarence Boddicker and his gang are noted by Casey Wong in the opening exposition newscast to have killed ''31'' police officers. The Detroit Police Department seriously must be running short of manpower if Boddicker is offing them like candy.
