Trope is now Sugar Wiki, no wicks allowed.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into [[{{Shipping}} romantic]] or [[BetterThanCanon non-canon]] territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, {{Shipping}} is SeriousBusiness. You may also want to note whether the fic is based on the classic ''BGC'' OVA series, or the 1998 ContinuityReboot TV series, ''Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040''.

* ''Comments'': Known in its time for simple being a funny and relatively well-written crossover/parody fic. It's more interesting these days due to it being an UnintentionalPeriodPiece. It was published only a few weeks before ''Anime/SailorMoon'' premiered in North America; as such it's a pure slice of zeitgeist which shows what American anime fan culture was like before the anime explosion.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14036316/1/ Bubblegum Fury]]'' by Hung Nguyen (AKA Animeaddiction)
* Recommended by Fox Bluereaver
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairing(s)'': Priss/Terry
* ''Synopsis'': The GENOM Corporation tests a new Boomer with teleportation capacities by drawing power from an extra dimensional source. However, the test run goes awry and the Boomer teleports itself to a different dimension, landing on the road that [[VideoGame/FatalFury Terry Bogard]] is traveling. After a fight between them, another rift drags Terry to the Boomer's original dimension, where he will encounter new enemies, new allies, and maybe a new chance at love.
* ''Comments'': An interesting crossover that serves as a conclusion to both ''Bubblegum Crisis'' and the ''Fatal Fury'' anime, taking place after ''The Motion Picture''. Aside from the typical action-packed scenes from both sources, there's a romance subplot that quickly develops between Terry and Priss, both of whom understand and bond over the pain of [[TheLostLenore previously losing a loved one]], and even fear the story could repeat again. [[spoiler:The story ends up on a bittersweet note, as Terry ultimately [[IChooseToStay forgoes the chance to return home with his brother and his friends]] for the sake of staying with Priss and saving her world, though it leans more into the happy side as they seem content with this and they seem to have a future together]].

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** [=SuddenFrost=]: ''Scars'' is the second part of the ''BGC Blues'' series by She-Hulk. I don't want to recommend the series as a whole because (1) it was never finished, (2) the later stories were only available on the author's website, which went offline, (3) its Linna/Nene relationship smacks of [[ShipMates Ship Mating]], and (4) it eventually goes UpToEleven with {{Wangst}}, PlotLeveling and putting the characters through the TraumaCongaLine. From the same author, I prefer to recommend ''If I Fall...'' (see below).

* ''Comments:'' A {{reboot}} of a long-abandoned EPU project called ''(Gryphon and Zoner Get) Hopelessly Lost'', ''BGC:TIA'' is a classic EPU self-insert, although fifteen years later Gryphon has greater skill to draw on and more twists to throw at readers, including [[PatchworkFic mixing and matching]] elements from both classic ''BGC'' and ''Tokyo 2040''. The addition of ''ComicBook/IronMan'' to the blend, in a manner that is both true to the source but completely unexpected, turns what was once a comedy series into something more akin to a near-future technothriller. Although far from complete at only three installments, it's definitely worth a read.

* ''Comments:'' Twister is ''the'' defining self-insert character of late-90s anime fanfiction, and is so gleefully over-the-top that either you loathe him with a hatred that burns like the pits of hell, or you hang on for the ride laughing all the way. The ''BGC'' installment of ''Twisted Path'' hits almost all the usual cliches of an SI in that world except for joining the Knight Sabers right away -- it is probably the TropeCodifier, if not the TropeMaker, for ''BGC'' self-inserts. Despite Twister's barely-average writing skill, it is surprisingly entertaining and throws more than a few [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome Crowning Moments of Awesome]] at the reader. It is also important as a fanfic, in that it had a direct influence on several later insert and insert-styled fics: ''A Wolf In Crisis'' includes explicit {{shout out}}s to it, the ''BGC'' segment of ''Legion's Quest'' takes place in the ''BGC'' timeline that Twister visited, and the fourth installment of ''TP'' explicitly crosses over with ''Bubblegum Zone'' .

** @/{{Binaroid}}: Not to mention the copies of the [=OVAs=] the fan had on him/her; or how Genom got away with half of them before the smoke cleared... Genre Savviness all around, tasteful use of AlternateCharacterInterpretation, and a closer look at the FridgeLogic behind the "futuristic" 2032. Good stuff.

* ''Comments:'' One of the newer generation of ''BGC'' SI fics, ''Bubblegum Avatar'' draws heavily on its predecessors and demonstrates a sly [[GenreSavvy Genre Savviness]] and a wicked sense of fun. Look for a few {{shout out}}s to previous fics (Sylia apparently becomes a fan of at least one earlier series, judging by her choice of aliases for Craig to use). Well-written and a great read; its only flaw is that Reed hasn't written anything new for it since 2004.

* ''Synopsis'': A hilarious and out-of-control parody which can't help wandering into other continuities. Highlights include Nene acquiring an [[ProjectAko Eiko Magami]] upgrade for her hardsuit, and Linna volunteering to distract (and tire out) a tentacle monster, and discovering it can't quench her (considerable) carnal appetites. Yeah, it's that kind of fanfic.
