* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Reuben Ashford is uniquely capable to make a blushing mess out of her granddaughter [[TheTease Milly]] while remaining classy about it.

* AuraVision: [[spoiler:Sayoko's Geass power after making a contract with C.C.]]

* BigScrewedUpFamily: The Britainnian Royal Family natch, though it is mentioned that they're somewhat better than the previous generation which caused the Emblem of Blood Era.
* BigWhat: Kallen's reaction when C.C. in her Celesta persona told her that Lelouch was indeed attracted to her and that the only reason she didn't realize is because he's very subtle about it whenever he interacts with the redhead. This is notable because other big reveals during that conversation like Sayoko and C.C. becoming his lovers and [[spoiler:the plan to get him to take Milly as his first wife and Kallen herself as the second]] didn't nearly elicit as vocal a reaction.

** A plot-relevant one occurs right before Zero's intervention in the Lake Kawaguchi Incident. In order to prove that her estimations on Zero's character and capabilities were right on the money, Kaguya Sumeragi bet that he was about to step in and defuse that gigantic disaster in the making in a significant manner. Should she lose, she'd have relented to marry the grandson of the Head of the Yoshida Clan, way too good a prospect for him to pass up due to the additional influence he would gain over the Six Houses' decisions with Kaguya as his in-law. Her victory meant that Hiroyosi Yoshino, who just happened to be the most recalcitrant of her peers among the leaders of the Houses, had to step down from his position in favor of his chosen successor -- someone not only more agreeable to Kaguya's initiatives, but also one who now owed an implicit debt to her for his ascension to the leadership of his Clan.

* BrokenPedestal: Shirley feels this way towards her father after discovering he's performing human experimentation.

to:

* BrilliantButLazy: The general consensus about Lelouch Lamperouge in Ashford Academy. Nina is particularly bothered by this because she can easily recognize the signs of a fellow genius-level IQ student, and simply can't wrap her head around the idea of someone like him downplaying his intelligence and being satisfied with mediocre scores.
* BrokenPedestal: Shirley feels this way towards her father after discovering he's [[spoiler:he's performing human experimentation.]]

* CreatorCameo: Namedrop variant. One of the nicknames of Sayoko's heirloom sword is ''Senkensha-ō'' or "Seer King."

* DudeMagnet: Shirley's "Britannian Homeland-sized" crush on Lelouch left quite a few guys disappointed at Ashford Academy. Even her [[EveryoneCanSeeIt poor attempts to keep it hidden]] doesn't deter all her suitors, necessitating her to shoot down at least one person a week, often more, who asked her out.

** Lelouch uses his Geass to get Kallen's mother to fight off her [[FantasticDrug Refrain]] addiction, disguising the supernatural elements as the work of "[an] acquaintance [of his who] has never failed to hypnotise someone."

* GunshipRescue: {{Defied|Trope}} with a vengeance. One of the first things the Britannian military learned about Zero is that he seems to abhor enemy air support, resulting in their air forces totalling most of the casualties after each battle against him.

* HollywoodHacking: Averted. Lelouch is only able to wreak havoc on the Area 11 Government Building's network because he geassed Clovis into telling him about a secret backdoor.

to:

* HollywoodHacking: Averted. {{Averted|Trope}}. Lelouch is only able to wreak havoc on the Area 11 Government Building's network because he geassed Clovis into telling him about a secret backdoor.backdoor that he, as the Viceroy, ordered to install.
* HoneyTrap:
** Milly's mother advises her to seduce Lelouch and then convince him to reveal himself to the Emperor in order to curry imperial favor for the Ashford family. Milly's tried to warn her for years just how much of a bad idea even attempting to manipulate a genius like him really is, but Melisande remains firm in her belief that [[ImAManICantHelpIt "he is a man, [thus] easily controlled by his desires."]]
** This is also one of the reasons Milly gives to herself for not making a move on Lelouch since they were kids despite her feelings for him. She believes that someone as ProperlyParanoid as Lelouch would mistake her advances for this trope, something that could at very least put some distance between them, if not outright prompt him to disappear with Nunnally in tow.

* ImmortalProcreationClause: C.C. believes that she is incapable of having children as a result of her Code, but given that Lelouch is the first man shes slept with since becoming immortal, its unknown if she actually is or not.

to:

* ImmortalProcreationClause: C.C. believes that she is incapable of having children as a result of her Code, but given that Lelouch is the first man shes she's slept with since becoming immortal, its it's unknown if she actually is or not.

** PlayedWith in Milly's case. One part of her felt happy for Lelouch for finally lowering his barriers and letting someone other than Nunnally into his heart after finding out that he got together with "Celesta Crossfield" (C.C.'s cover identity) and Sayoko. ''Another'' part of her, in her own words, "''burned'' with jealousy that other women had moved in on [him]."

* MundaneUtility: While "mundane" is pushing it, Lelouch used his Geass to get Kallen's mother to fight off her [[FantasticDrug Refrain]] addition. He disguises the supernatural elements for their sake as the work of [[ExactWords "[an] acquaintance [of his who] has never failed to hypnotise someone"]] and regular medical treatment.

* PublicDomainArtifact: The Imperial Regalia of Japan was one of the many treasures lost during the invasion of Japan, but Lelouch managed to track down and acquire all three plundered artifacts from Britannian unwitting collectors thanks to the networking he built during his gambling escapades. He then returned them to Japanese hands during Zero's first meeting with the heads of the Six Houses of Kyoto as a token of his gratitude to Japan. Given the sheer historical value of the Regalia and the fact a Britannian former Prince understood their importance for the Japanese, even his detractors among the Houses had no choice but quiet down much of their opposition against allying themselves with Zero and the Order of the Black Knights.

* ServileSnarker: {{Discussed|Trope}} {{Subver|tedTrope}}ssion. The first thing that caught Kallen's attention about Lelouch was the Japanese maid Sayoko referring to the Britannian teenager with the [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics "-sama" honorific]] without any trace of resentment or sarcasm whatsoever.
* {{Sexposition}}: Lelouch and Sayoko discuss the aftermath of the Battle of Narita while she's basking in the afterglow of their lovemaking session and a bit into the foreplay for the next one, right before the scene ends with a SexyDiscretionShot.

* ThereAreNoTherapists: {{Justified|Trope}}. The only reason why Britannian military didn't order Suzaku to attend therapy despite how much of a danger he is to himself is because they ''just didn't care.'' In their eyes, assigning a staff therapist to a non-Britannian soldier is just a waste given that they were always intended as CannonFodder. A SubvertedTrope later on when Euphemia arranges for Suzaku to receive professional help, who quickly identifies obvious signs of a Martyr's Complex.
* TooHotForTV: A few explicit scenes had to be removed from the story in order to pass Website/FanFictionDotNet's censorship. They're now compiled in the author's Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn [[http://archiveofourown.org/users/SeerKing/pseuds/SeerKing/works?fandom_id=34408 account.]]

** C.C. can also do the reverse and give someone she's touching a telepathic glimpse of the World of C, which usually has insanity-inducing side-effects. She's very tempted to give Milly's mother a taste of it due to her rapid ascension in her shit list (to be fair, she's kinda earned her place there), and has stayed her hand only thanks to Lelouch's reassurances that he's already got plans in place to deal with Melisande were she to become a bigger problem.

* UnprovokedPervertPayback: When they were kids, Kaguya once snuck into the bath with Lelouch. Suzaku walked into the scene and mistakenly blamed ''him'' for it and chased him with a wooden sword in hand. Lelouch remembers the not-so-fond memory as one of the few times he managed to outrun Suzaku. This anecdote becomes a minor plot point when Kaguya used as an impromptu TrustPassword to confirm Lelouch's identity.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Sayoko is romantically involved with Lelouch in this story, and when Tetsuya tries to assassinate Zero, she (as Aegis) runs him through and leaves him to die.

This is because two stipulations: one; for one to qualify as a wife and not just a mistress (also allowed by the law) one needs to be a Britannian or be royalty or nobility in their country of origin (C.C. actually acknowledges that this law makes sense on a political and national security level, to prevent foreign powers from flooding Brittania with their people, and reassures Kallen that even if her half-blood status came to light, a bribe or two would prevent it from being an issue) and two, is that TopWife privileges do exist and said TopWife has a sort of veto power over who becomes a wife and who is a mistress. And only a foolish man or the Britannian Emperor (who is actually ''legally required to take two wives at the minimum'') would dare ignore her.

* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: When Zero reveals his identity to the Heads of the Six Houses of Kyoto, Kaguya is so overcome with hopeful disbelief that she demands Lelouch to tell her what she did to him a week before the invasion. After he answers correctly (see UnprovokedPervertPayback below) and thus proving he wasn't some sort of impersonator, she forgoes property, [[TearsOfJoy breaking into tears]] and [[TheGlomp glomping him]].
* SoreLoser: Suzaku, Suzaku can't stand losing against his philosophical antithesis, Zero. Especially true the one time he got the chance to fight directly against Zero's personal Knightmare and the masked man still managed to escape capture despite being outclassed both in spades.skill and hardware.

* StealthHiBye: Sayoko is fond of doing this. Even an ever-inquisitive guy like Lelouch has long ago given up on figuring out how she pulls this off.
* SubordinateExcuse: [[NinjaMaid Sayoko]] had more than sympathy for his cause and concern for his safety as reasons to swear herself as Lelouch's vassal. See LoveConfession above.
* SueDonym: C.C. attends Ashford Academy under the name of Celesta Crossfield and makes a point to ask everybody to call her simply "C.C." during her introduction to her class, thus making it the nickname of an alias that happens to be [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname how everybody else knows her]].

* TopWife: Britannian polygamous marriages generally have a First Wife, who is in charge of the other wives and the mistresses. There is one notable exception: the Emperor has no First Wife. C.C. is trying to get Lelouch into a polygamous marriage for her own reasons, and believes that Milly would make an excellent First Wife.
* TouchTelepathy: Nunnally is able to tell if someone is lying through touch.
** C.C. demonstrates that she can read someone's mind through skin contact. After shaking Kaguya's hand, she remarks that the girl is remarkably perverted.

* TwoPersonLoveTriangle: Like in canon, Kallen's falling for Zero. However, she also seems to be developing feelings for Lelouch, unaware that they're actually one and the same.

* TwoPersonLoveTriangle: Like in canon, Kallen's falling for Zero. However, she also seems to be developing feelings for Lelouch, unaware that they're actually one and the same. Her simultaneous attraction to whom she considers two very different people makes her worry that she might be "a loose woman of some sort."

* WeaponOfChoice: [[OriginalCharacter Tetsuya Ichigyomon]] proudly carries an old Imperial Japanese Army [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_94_Nambu_pistol Type 94 Nambu 8mm pistol]] as a way to show his PatrioticFervor as a [[LaResistance resistance fighter]]. However, he doesn't give proper maintenance to it and it's so caked with dirt and grease that Kallen estimates that the gun is likely to blow up in his hands if the trigger is pulled, all of which is a handy visual cue of his unprofessionalism, how shallow Tetsuya's compromise to the cause really is and how he only wants to [[GlorySeeker make a name of himself]].

* ExoticExtendedMarriage: Britannian noblemen (as well as male commoners with enough money and/or status) are allowed to take multiple wives, although only a few actually exercise this privilege. This is because two stipulations: one; for one to qualify as a wife one needs to be a Britannian (C.C. actually acknowledges that this law makes sense on a political and national security level) and two, is that TopWife privileges do exist and said TopWife has a sort of veto power over who becomes a wife and who is a mistress. And only a foolish man or the Britannian Emperor would dare ignore her.

** C.C. tells Kallen a ''very'' abridged but technically true version of what happened with her and Clovis, though with the wording implying that the unnamed noble was looking to get into her pants, not experiment on her to try and become immortal. And when asked when/how she became sterile, C.C. tells Kallen that it happened a long time ago and that it was "ancient history to some". Given that taking Code was what did it, the story is ancient history to pretty much everyone.
