* SturgeonsLaw: CL wrote this story because he wanted to prove that all the tropes that are usually responsible for the 90% can be used effectively to make an excellent story. Given that it has been voted the funniest story on Equestria Daily two years running, it's apparent that he's succeeded.
** Let's see, Self-insert, First-Person, black-garbed protagonist, PlayingWithFire as a superpower (in a sense), in love with a goddess/princess, and the dreaded Human in Equestria? Despite its connotations, CL pulled it off brilliantly.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* DeadpanSnarker: Firewall, Luna, and Storm Wing (y'know, screw him for that) are all [[UpToEleven big on the snark department]]. [[HilarityEnsues Hilarity tends to ensue]] [[SnarkToSnarkCombat whenever there's dialogue between them]].

* IngestingKnowledge: One of Luna's spells--which she soon passes on to Firewall--allows her to burn books and other reading materials, instantly transferring the information on said book to her. She eventually [[UpToEleven pushes this spell to a new level]] by burning [[spoiler:Firewall's phone, which happens to be connected to the Internet. Unfortunately, due to the author's sporadic appearances on [=FIMFiction=], the story is yet another instance of a DeadFic.

* NotSoHarmlessVillain: For the first half of the FanFic, The Nightmare came across as a second rate DastardlyWhiplash and an overall negligible threat. Then comes [[WhamEpisode Chapter 8]] where The Nightmare [[spoiler: Possesses a weakened Princess Celestia after engineering a trap designed to exhaust her]], and suddenly TheNightmare seems ''[[KnightOfCerebus much]]'' more threatening.

Not So Different has been renamed, and it needs to be dewicked/moved

* NotSoDifferent: Firewall is Compared to [[spoiler: David; but by Winter Sky. David was silly, tried to hide human culture from the ponies, and was only serious if ponies were in danger too.]] Firewall has yet to come up with a serious difference between the two, aside from himself being somewhat philosophical.

** [[spoiler: David himself]] invokes the trope word for word in chapter 14.

Misused of Five Man Band. Too many members, including roles that aren't part of this trope, The Leader is missing. Since it's also ZCE, removed.

* FiveManBand
** TheHero -- Firewall
** TheLancer -- Storm Wing (screw 'Captain' Storm Wing)
** TheSmartGuy -- Luna / Twilight (sometimes Firewall, to an extent)
** TheBigGuy -- Storm Wing (screw the little guy for that), and now [[spoiler: Winter Sky]].
** TheChick -- Firewall
** TeamMom -- Celestia

* DeadFic: As CL only logs in very sporadically and does not post updates, it is safe to say the fic has run its course.

It lives!

* DeadFic: With the last update coming in January of 2016, and CL having not visited FIMFiction in almost a full year, it's disappointingly safe to say this story may never be completed.
