While travelers from other worlds isn't exactly unheard of in the Forgotten Realms (Bruenor assumes the ''Forward Unto Dawn'' is a spelljammer, a type of magic spaceship), John, the Arbiter, Johnson, and Miranda have technologies and worldviews that are completely alien to the natives of Faerun.

* ItCanThink: Neeshka and Drizzt both have this realization regarding the Flood.
** Neeshka is terrified because when she first sees them, she thinks they're some weird type of zombie... but she's experienced with Zombies, and they do ''not'' act like they do in Chief's footage. Zombies in Faerun are mindless, shambling things that overwhelm their foes with numbers. What they ''don't'' do is execute actual tactics or strategy, such as flanking manuvers, or show any sign of creativity.
** Drizzt gets this but worse, partially because he realizes that the Flood retain all the memories of their former hosts. That means that all the horrifying UNSC and Covenant weapons that he's so scared of? Them in the hands of a horde of undead that does not stop. What's worse, what happened to his father- turned into a thinking undead- is still relatively fresh for him, and knows ''exactly'' how dangerous such a combination of "Undead" and "Skilled Warrior" can be.
