** Aurora, in addition to having the same name as the protagonist of ''Disney/SleepingBeauty'' and suffering a similar fate at the beginning of the story, is reminiscent of [[Disney/{{Brave}} a certain other]] [[FieryRedhead redheaded]] {{Action| Girl}} [[BadassPrincess Princess]].
** Genovefa resembles Naija from ''VideoGame/{{Aquaria}}''; both being [[OurMermaidsAreDifferent amphibious mermaids]] [[LastOfHisKind whose peoples fell victim to genocide]].
** [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Queen]] [[WickedStepmother Umbra]] is an amalgam of [[Disney/SnowWhite Queen Grimhilde]], [[Disney/{{Cinderella}} Lady Tremaine]], and [[Disney/SleepingBeauty Maleficent]], complete with a ScaledUp OneWingedAngel form like the latter.

** Famously, Dan Hibiki was created as a CompositeCharacter [[http://www.gamesradar.com/the-pathetic-history-of-dan-hibiki/ parody]] of Ryo Sakazaki, Yuri Sakazaki and Robert Garcia, the three protagonists of ''VideoGame/ArtOfFighting''. His clothing and fighting style were taken from Ryo, his face and hairstyle were taken from Robert, and his effeminate mannerisms were taken from Yuri. His father, Go Hibiki, was even designed to look like Mr. Karate, the father of Ryo and Yuri. And of course, the whole reason Dan exists in the first place is because Creator/{{Capcom}} was annoyed that Creator/{{SNK}} created Ryo, a blatant clone of Ryu from ''Street Fighter''. Given that both ''VideoGame/ArtOfFighting'' and ''VideoGame/StreetFighterI'' were created by Creator/TakashiNishiyama and Creator/HiroshiMatsumoto, the similarities between Ryu and Ryo were likely 100 percent intentional.

* M. Bison from ''VideoGame/StreetFighter'' is visually based off of [[http://fightingstreet.com/folders/variousinfofolder/ripofffolder/ripoff_pics/vegakato.jpg Yasunori Katō]] from the novel ''Literature/TeitoMonogatari'' and its various adaptations[[note]]''Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis'' and ''Doomed Megalopolis'' in particular[[/note]], right down to [[http://i.imgur.com/XeYcqCA.jpg the cape and hat]].

* Many of the characters from ''Videogame/StreetFighter'':
** Balrog and Fei Long are modeled after Mike Tyson and Creator/BruceLee, respectively.
** Dee Jay was [[http://www.capcom-unity.com/kramez/blog/2009/10/02/the_origin_of_dee_jay_straight_from_creator_james_goddard inspired by]] Billy Blanks' character from ''The King of the Kickboxers''.
** Eagle is [[http://fightingstreet.com/folders/variousinfofolder/ripofffolder/ripoffpage1.html based on]] Petrov, the Russian fighter from ''Film/FistOfFury'', right down to the identical clothing and facial hair. His redesign in ''VideoGame/CapcomVsSNK2MarkOfTheMillennium'' made him look more like Music/FreddieMercury.
** Dhalsim is based on [[http://io9.gizmodo.com/5865126/was-this-insane-kung-fu-battle-the-inspiration-for-dhalsim-from-street-fighter La Seng]], the Indian Yoga master from ''Film/MasterOfTheFlyingGuillotine''. It is believed Dhalsim's fighting style and ability to stretch were taken from the character.
** There are at least ''three'' separate fighters [[https://thesaltminedotcom.wordpress.com/2015/12/06/make-a-street-fighter-one/ inspired by characters]] from ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'':
*** Guile's trademark AnimeHair was taken from Rudolph von Stroheim, one of the characters from ''Battle Tendency''.
*** Rose was inspired by Lisa Lisa, also from ''Battle Tendency''. Aside from the very similar physical appearances, both women have long, flowing scarves that they use to [[ScarfOfAsskicking channel energy during battle]].
*** Juri is heavily based on Jolyne Cujoh, the main protagonist of ''Stone Ocean''. They have extremely similar outfits and hairstyles, and Juri even shouts something akin to Jolyne's "Ora ora ora!" BattleCry during certain moves. Both women also have bug motifs, with Jolyne tied to butterflies and Juri tied to spiders.

** Ryu and Sagat [[http://www.cracked.com/article_23768_7-famous-characters-you-didnt-know-were-stolen.html were based off of]] Yoshiji (who was already based on real life karate master Mas Oyama) and Reiba, respectively, from the manga ''Karate Baka Ichidai''. Sagat's design is especially blatant, as both he and Reiba are dark-skinned Muay Thai masters with no hair and one eye.
