* Anime/LittleWitchAcademia
** Akko is an Expy of Simon the Digger, as both characters have two legendary items which are useful against much more bigger foes, they are also both the determinator which helps them becoming stronger as they contain lots of potential and also follow an idol that ends up being a mentor. It's notable that the show worked on is by the same people.
** Amanda, the rough-and-tumble, fanservice-y tomboy with a bright red streak in her short hair makes her a mirror to Ryuko. It certainly helps that Little Witch Academia was also made by Creator/StudioTrigger.
** Wangari is based on Dean Thomas from the Franchise/HarryPotter franchise, being a black LargeHamAnnouncer who provides colorful commentary for her WizardingSchool's sporting events. The key difference is that Wangari is a girl.

** Umpteen times in the nonserial movies. Almost every villain is an expy of a main series villain in some way, along with many of movie-original supporting characters. Just for example, Lord Slug is an expy of King Piccolo, Cooler is an expy of Frieza, Janemba is an expy of Majin Buu, etcetera.

* Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion: Asuka is a DistaffCounterpart of Tetsuya Tsurugi from Anime/GreatMazinger, sharing a lot of his traits. AcePilot? Check. HotBlooded? Check. Arrogant? Check. Tsundere? Check. ConvenientlyAnOrphan? Check. Huge abandonment and self-assuredness issues and a need to stand out due to this? Check. Huge amounts of InferioritySuperiorityComplex? Check. Breakdown due to their psychological trauma and personality issues? Definitely check. Fight against nine Mass Produced models of their own Mecha? Check. Ironically this makes her an Expy of the character who codified -and deconstructed long ago- the trope that she tried to deconstruct.

* Most Franchise/Gundam series will have a character based on Char Aznable, known as a CharClone (or just "A CHAR"). Wikipedia lists 16 Char Clones in the entire Gundam franchise to date. They're most easily identified by the fact that they wear a mask for little or no reason and occasionally have a penchant for piloting red mobile suits. They're almost always TheRival and/or TheDragon. Notable Char expys include Carozzo "Iron Mask" Ronah from Anime/MobileSuitGundamF91, Chronicle Asher from Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam, Zechs Merquise from Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing, Lancerow Darell from Anime/AfterWarGundamX, Rau Le Creuset from Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED, Neo Roanoke from Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny, Graham Aker from Anime/MobileSuitGundam00, Zeheart Galette from Anime/MobileSuitGundamAGE, Full Frontal from Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn & even a literal clone of Char in the Gaia Gear series of novels & audio dramas. Char clones show up quite often in other HumongousMecha series' as well (see Elzam Branstein's entry in the Games section). Lelouch from Anime/CodeGeass is a borderline example. Apparently the idea of him wearing a mask came from executives who said something along the lines of "It just wouldn't be a Sunrise show without a mask". Ironically, Char is an Expy himself from Prince Sharkin, TheDragon of Anime/Raideen, YoshiyukiTomino's first HumongousMecha anime.

* Several characters & mecha from Mamoru Nagano's Manga/TheFiveStarStories are expies of ones from an anime he had earlier worked on with YoshiyukiTomino called Anime/HeavyMetalLGaim, not the least of which were the HumongousMecha Junchoon & its pilot Colus VI who are expies of L-Gaim's titular mecha and series protagonist Daba Myroad. Infact, the story arc in the manga focusing on Colus VI retaking his throne is an almost exact retelling of the plot of L-Gaim. Interestingly, L-Gaim features an expy of its own Lilith Fau, a tinkerbell-esque fairy who bears an uncanny resemblance to Cham Huau from a previous Tomino series, Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine. They even become best friends in VideoGame/SuperRobotWars4 and VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsCompact.

* Another character who borrows character design from Dante as well as Vash the Stampede is Alucard from . Apart from his penchant for red coats, the HealingFactor that dwarfs Dante's himself, and a pair of ScaryShinyGlasses, he also wields two guns, one black and one silver, and can transform into a more demonic form. The main difference is that Alucard is a lot more bloodthirsty than Dante and Vash combined, and his vampiric power is so great that he has to be kept in check via a system of Power Limiters.

** Clare is an almost perfect expy of Ikuno from Manga/AngelDensetsu. Down to her behavior. (And she's attracted to Raki/Yuji too). For some added expiness read the episode in which Kitano dreams during math lesson just after reading Claymore, and notice his sword and the oni's eyes. Many also see Clare as a genderswapped Guts, given both characters' Dark And Troubled Pasts, penchant for BFS giant swords and general calling.

* Nana-sempai of LightNovel/GoldenTime dresses and acts exactly (though with more ComedicSociopathy) like Nana Osaki of .

** Ranma himself is this of Ryuunosuke, again from Manga/UruseiYatsura. Both are strong teenager that often fight with their abusive father and have problem of sexual identity.

* Yui and Takeo Sasaki from Anime/X-Men are Expies of Moira and Kevin [=MacTaggert=]/Proteus from the comics, right down to Yui being a famous researcher and Xavier's old flame [[spoiler:, and Takeo being Xavier's bastard son, much like Ultimate Proteus]].

to:

* The manhwa Manhwa/WitchHunter is quite an expy of Manga/DGrayMan. The main protagonists both have white hair, wear black uniform which are the same color as their respective comrades', show sympathy towards their enemies' race, and have hilarious financial problems.

* Michiru Kita from Manga/ZombieLoan is very similar to Lettuce Midorikawa from Manga/TokyoMewMew. Both have Meganekko glasses and shy personalities, and in the beginning of Zombie Loan, Michiru even has Lettuce's twin braids. Until she chops them off, of course.
