Not this trope as their relationship is clearly platonic and stays that way.

After some thinking, I'm going to revert some of my edits. The movie's been out for a while now and I assume most of what's on here is what the majority of the audience felt, so I see no reason to change that. Do note that I didn't edit because I disagreed with what was said, but rather that I felt the MOVIE wasn't saying these things, especially since I edited right after seeing the movie today (the movie really does NOT portray anyone as antagonistic other than the agent... and even he is more selfish than outright villainous. Otherwise the film would've spent more time on those characters if they really wanted the audience to hate them).

RE: Hate Sink: Examples Are Not Arguable. Either she is or she isn't. I'm leaning towards "isn't" due to the fact that her first scene's behavior seemed to be caused by the director talking down to her in the first place. No, I'm not saying that she isn't a jerk in that scene, but considering her later behavior towards Penny shows that Mindy essentially has a tough job of also informing people about particularly bad news (she specifically mentions that if there were any other way, she wouldn't be asking Penny to "let go" of Bolt and move on, but peoples' jobs and livelihoods were at stake at that point). The director also doesn't count since he isn't focused on again after this. RE:Interspecies Romance: It is indeed Friendship that's at play here and that's the trope that the movie purposely invokes. People's reactions to their friendship is covered on the YMMV page. RE: Karma Houdini: Doesn't qualify. Mindy IS concerned about Penny's sorrow, but a decision had to be made. See my earlier response here. The director had his dream busted due to Bolt's disappearance (notice how the new dog isn't as controlled as Bolt was), the agent got his comeuppance at the end of the film when his clients quit, and the last two bullet points are unnecessary (they don't add anything to the trope). RE: Reasonable Authority Figure: Adding context.
