* FalseCameraEffects: Kyoto Animation's recent offerings has utilized heavy use of blur, focus, chromatic aberration and bokeh. This is particularly noticeable in ''Anime/SoundEuphonium'', especially in its pilot episode which is literred in them.

In the wake of ''K-On!'', the studio also became known for the distinctness of character designs it used ''across different series'' (the latter of which is called derisively by critics of the studio as the "KyoAni Homogenizer"). Indeed, you can put Yui (from ''Manga/KOn''), Chitanda (from ''Literature/{{Hyouka}}''), and Tamako (from ''Anime/TamakoMarket''), in one place, and you wouldn't know they were from different shows. The only exception from this was ''Manga/{{Nichijou}}'', which instead used the original manga's more simplistic style due to the surreal comedy of the series.

[[http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/ Kyoto Animation]] is the anime studio responsible for ''Anime/{{Munto}}'', ''Lightnovel/FullMetalPanic'' (after the first season), ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'', ''Manga/LuckyStar'', ''Manga/KOn'' and adaptations of three Creator/KeyVisualArts visual novels: ''VisualNovel/{{AIR}}'', ''VisualNovel/{{Kanon}}'', and ''VisualNovel/{{Clannad}}'' (although they were also separately adapted by Creator/ToeiAnimation). Held to high regard for their usually good animation quality, as well as [[SceneryPorn almost disturbingly realistic backgrounds]] and the generous use of little touches to spice up the character animation (only rivaled by Creator/PAWorks in this regard); as a result it has a fondness for using the ''bloom'' and ''flare'' effects for its visuals.

Held to high regard for their usually good animation quality, quality (the animation tends to be more fluid, on-par with Western-made cartoons, not to mention mouth flaps often being more articulate rather than being stuck in one position), as well as [[SceneryPorn almost disturbingly realistic backgrounds]] and the generous use of little touches to spice up the character animation (only rivaled by Creator/PAWorks in this regard); as a result it has a fondness for using the ''bloom'' and ''flare'' effects for its visuals.

After nearly five years of in-house work, KyoAni returned to adapting outside series, with Shouji Gato's ''LightNovel/AmagiBrilliantPark'', and ''Literature/SoundEuphonium'' by Ayano Takeda, lhe latter of which got a second season airing at the end of 2016.

** ''Manga/LuckyStar'' has innumerable {{Shout Out}}s to ''Haruhi'', being the favorite show of the OtakuSurrogate Konata... [[ActorAllusion who is voiced by Aya Hirano, Haruhi's voice actress]]. Konata uses a ''Hare Hare Yukai'' and later ''Koi no Mikuru Densetsu'' ringtone, has a big collection of ''Haruhi'' merchandise, [[CosplayOtakuGirl cosplays as Haruhi]] at the cafe where she works, and much, much more. After all, [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cit_lucky_star_advertisement.jpg "This is advertisement for us, so it's better!"]] These inside references are anime-only, and are not found anywhere in the manga on which it is based.\\\
Similarly, Kagami's favourite series happens to be ''Lightnovel/FullMetalPanic'', leading to {{Shout Out}}s in that direction as well. (Oddly enough, Tsukasa's favourite series is ''KeroroGunsou'', which also has its fair share of {{Shout Out}}s, despite being a {{Sunrise}} show. In the same vein, Konata is a fan of ''Anime/CodeGeass'', also produced by Sunrise, and they manage a few {{Shout Out}}s for it too.) Not surprising at all, since Kyoani is affiliated with Sunrise, so it's a ShoutOut to their parent company. And of course, as pictured, when the girls go on a field trip to Kyoto... well, where does Konata want to visit?
