** He has, however, made his disdain for everything involving ''Series/GameOfThrones'' and its fanbase (except his long-time friends Stephen Dillane and Charles Dance) abundantly clear in everything he has done relating to that. This contempt led to the [[MemeticMutation memetic phrase "It's just tits and dragons!"]]

Versatile, talented and with a distinctive, purring voice, [=McShane=] is a RuleOfSeanConnery actor. Whatever project he's involved with, it becomes a lot better because of his presence.

His many roles on the silver screen have been predominantly villainous, including Judas Iscariot in ''Series/JesusOfNazareth'', Blackbeard in ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanOnStrangerTides'' and bisexual {{Gayngster}} Teddy Bass in ''Film/SexyBeast''. However, he also plays a role as good guys, such as Mr. Bobinsky in ''WesternAnimation/{{Coraline}}'' and King Brahmwell in ''Film/JackTheGiantSlayer''. Incidentally, he was at drama school with Creator/JohnHurt, and they shared an apartment, leading to a lifelong friendship.

* ClassicallyTrainedExtra: He doesn't care much for ''Series/GameOfThrones'', and only agreed to a role because he wanted to hang with his friends, Creator/StephenDillane and Creator/CharlesDance...who were killed off at that point. To be fair, he did come into the series during a hefty bit of SeasonalRot when the show had massively decreased in quality for a while, hence the fandom not minding his (not inaccurate) dismissal of the show as 'tits and dragons'. This is averted with his roles in ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda'', ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanOnStrangerTides'', ''Series/AmericanHorrorStory'' and ''Film/JackTheGiantSlayer'', which he, apparently, enjoyed immensely.

He seems to enjoy the weirder, blockbuster-y roles just as much as classical theater.
