Adding context to Wade Duck's example.

* Wade Duck from the ''WesternAnimation/USAcres'' segments of ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'' is a cowardly craven duck. However, he can show to have courage and face his fears, when he puts his mind to it. And at times, when his friends are in trouble, he tends to put his fears aside and help them. In "Rainy Day Robot", he even forgot at first, that he's afraid of rain, [[FriendshipMoment when hanging out with Roy]].

** in ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooLegendOfThePhantosaur'' has Shaggy hypnotized for part of the movie, but it wears off at a critical moment when Shaggy has to make an absolutely massive jump over a raging river in a collapsing cave. Despite having lost his bravery, Fred convinces Shaggy to make the jump to save everybody. Absolutely terrified, Shaggy makes the massive jump and manages to get to safety over a crumbling cave wall and gets help, saving everybody.
--->'''Fred''': If you don't to it, we're all gonna die!
--->'''Shaggy''': Look how far it is, Fred! I'm not gonna make it!
--->'''Fred''': You can do it! You made a bigger jump than that a few minutes ago!
--->'''Shaggy''': Whatever! That's when I was the other guy! You know, the brave one!
--->'''Fred''': I don't know much about hypnosis, Shaggy, but I know one thing: It cannot make you do things you couldn't do without it! All that stuff you did when you were brave, it was you! It's inside you, you just have to let it out!

* ''WesternAnimation/TheHerbs'' has a Literal example in Parsley the lion who is, by his own admission, "not particularly brave"; he's very shy around new people and will run at the first sign of actual trouble. But when the other Herbs are in actual trouble, he displays not only bravery but a fair bit of cunning, too.

* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'': Fluttershy. In "Dragonshy", she's literally paralyzed with fear at the thought of having to confront a grumpy full-grown dragon and convince him to leave Equestria. However, after the dragon attacks her friends, she forgets to be afraid and [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath gives him such a talking-to he breaks down crying.]] To clarify the scale; she could easily have stood in the dragon's eye socket. Another time, she stared down and verbally berated a [[TakenForGranite cockatrice]], which had already turned her friend to stone, while it was in the process of ''turning her into stone as well.'' Good thing it started from the back.

* Eduardo from ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends''. He's easily frightened, but when someone he loves is in trouble, he shows that his muscular upper body and huge horns are not there for show. He was actually created by a little girl to protect herself from street kids, but when he ended up becoming afraid of them, ''she'' ended up becoming the one protecting him. She credits his existence as how she became braver (and eventually, a cop).
* Fry from ''{{WesternAnimation/Futurama}}'', when he isn’t a DirtyCoward. He’s scared of almost everything (when he's not being too brainless to understand that there's something to be afraid of) and tends to hide behind Leela or run away when things get hairy, but when it comes down to it will do anything, up to and including sacrificing his own life more than once, for his friends.
