** The intro states that Pastor Ong rebelled against his religious family and became a famous scientist before returning to religion when he had "questions science couldn't answer". At the end of the comic, Dr. Ong is reexamining his own faith.

* {{Bishounen}}: Jameson's defining feature is apparently his feminine appearance. Even though by that point he's also a zombie.

* Anvilicious: After Ong's dad attacks evolution apropos of nothing at the church festival (stating [[FridgeLogic he somehow came to the conclusion it's "unscientific" in his studies]]) it becomes increasingly clear the whole comic is just a stage to [[WriterOnBoard express the vocal Tennapel's religious hard right opinions]], complete with a devout self-taught quantum physicist redneck and definitive empirical evidence of Christian mythology such as a functional Shroud of Turin and [[spoiler:[[RecycledInSpace E.T. Jesus]]]].
