Action Comics first saw publication in June 1938. It's most famous for having the debut of ComicBook/Superman in its first issue. What many people do not realize, however, is that Action Comics, like most ComicBooks of its day, was an anthology containing multiple unrelated stories. As such, Action Comics #1 also marked the debut of Zatara the magician, perhaps better known today as the father of Comicbook/Zatanna.

* DisproportionateRetribution: In the New 52 universe, Mr. Mxyzptlk is a 5th Dimension imp who works as the Court Jester for the land of Zrfff. He entertains the kingdom by annoying the heroes of several worlds, including Superman, and letting Zrfff watch. He then wiped out 228 worlds, and decided to uses his powers to secretly make Superman's life a living hell before eventually killing him, even assembling an "Anti-Superman Army". Of course, Superman has no idea who he is, but Vyndktvx holds him responsible for Mxyzptlk's success because the kingdom really liked how he was the only hero to best Mxyzptlk.

* Prequel: The Comicbook/New 52 relaunch told the story of his re-re-re-revised origin.
