%% Villains are in alphabetical order, using the name or codename that they are called by the most and if a civilian name then their last name. For example: Dr. Mark Desmond is Blockbuster but he was called by his given name for most of the episode therefore he would be categorized under "D" for "Desmond".
%%
%% For codenames that involve titles like Captain or Mister, categorize them under the following name instead of those titles. Mr Freeze is categorized under Freeze.

This page is for listing antagonistic characters unaffiliated with the organization known as The Light in the animated series ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice''.

For other characters that appear in the series, see the [[Characters/YoungJustice Young Justice Character Index]].

[[folder:Apokolips]]
[[WMG:{{Darkseid}}]]

* BaldOfEvil
* BigBadDuumvirate: Implied to have been in one with the Light for most of the series, as he's presumably responsible for Desaad and [[spoiler:Godfrey]]'s presence on Earth, and for lending the Light technology from Apokolips that made it possible for them to execute their grander schemes.
* BiggerBad: Almost definitely bigger than the Light, and stays almost completely off stage during the two seasons.
* DarkIsEvil
* TheDreaded: Implied. None of the Forever People wanted to speak his name, and Desaad backtracked almost instantly when he claimed that Infinity-Man was his to control, clarifying that Infinity-Man would belong to "my master", as if he were worried that Darkseid could hear him.
* EvilOverlord
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Thank you very much, Cartoon Network.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast
* PhysicalGod
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SpeakOfTheDevil: In "Disordered", neither Desaad nor the Forever People were willing to say Darkseid's name. Dreamer's projection of Desaad even described Darkseid as "Unspeakable".

[[WMG: Desaad]]
-> Voiced by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker

* AndYourLittleDogToo: Said nearly word for word.
--> Kill the boy, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin and his little dog too.]]
* BodyHorror: Is much more visibly malformed than other incarnations, with his skin actually hanging loosely in many places.
* ColdBloodedTorture
* GodOfEvil: Referred to as one of the "gods of Anti-Life, slavery and degradation" of Apokolips by the Forever People.
* InTheHood
* KnowWhenToFoldEm
* [[MadScientist Mad God-Scientist]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: His name comes from Marquis de Sade (whose name inspired the word "sadism").
* NebulousCriminalConspiracy: Supplies Apokoliptian and stolen New Genesis tech to Intergang, [[spoiler: and implicitly, to The Light as well.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SoftSpokenSadist: Well, it ''is'' Desaad.
* SoreLoser: When Superboy and sphere turns the tables on him, his response is to flee and hurl a grenade that does massive damage while screaming "ALL SHALL SUFFER!!!!!! ALL SHALL SUFFER!!!!!"
* TortureTechnician
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: When he [[spoiler: takes over Infinity Man and turns him against Superboy]], Mannheim asks him that, since [[spoiler: the BrainwashedAndCrazy Infinity Man was [[ColdBloodedTorture taking his sweet time]]]]; his answer boils down to ForTheEvulz.

[[WMG: G. Gordon Godfrey[[spoiler:/Glorious Godfrey]]]]
-> Voiced by Creator/TimCurry

* CatchPhrase: Seems to say "I know what you're thinking: Ol' G. Gordon's..." a lot.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: For a fear-mongering, mud-slinging, talk show host, he shows a lot of journalistic and personal integrity when he [[spoiler:chews out the Ambassador for his outright lies]].
** [[spoiler: Subverted; it's all part of the plan.]]
* {{Expy}}: As in the comics, his name is a reference to ''Franchise/SpiderMan'' character J. Jonah Jameson, as well as his slanted news.
** Actually, his name is a reference to Watergate conspirator and frequent talk show personality G. Gordon Liddy. That's not to say that Jameson may have been another influence, though.
* FantasticRacism: Really doesn't like aliens.
** [[spoiler:He gives a pass to the Reach, claiming they introduced themselves to the world the right way, and even cameos in an in-universe ad for The Reach's soft drink. However, he turns on them in "The Hunt" after the revelation that they were hiding an entire battle fleet under the ocean, calling him out on live television.]]
** And in "Endgame" [[spoiler: he's seen on Apokolips, pretty much confirming he ''is'' an alien, the New God Glorious Godfrey, who, in the comics, specializes in controlling media and manipulating populations.]]
* HateSink: From giving the Justice League bad publicity to the annoying voice and being a huge Jerkass, there's not much to like. [[spoiler: Hell, his one moment of awesome turns out to be part of Darkseid's plan.]]
* {{Jerkass}}
* KentBrockmanNews
* LargeHam: You'd expect less from someone played by Tim Curry?
* ObviouslyEvil: He's voiced by ''Creator/TimCurry'' after all.
* OpinionFlipflop: He heartily endorses Secretary Tseng's decision to trust the Reach, then calls for the man's resignation and blames him exclusively after the Reach show their true colors.
* PhysicalGod: He's actually [[spoiler: Glorious Godfrey, Darkseid's chief propagandist.]]
* PropagandaMachine
* StrawmanNewsMedia: As a heavily biased TalkShow host.
** StrawmanHasAPoint: Albeit a very convincing one, he makes accurate points. Given what is and isn't publicly known, this is even worse in universe- where he is gaining credibility. [[spoiler: All part of the plan.]]
* ThirdPersonPerson: Frequently.
* TrrrillingRrrs
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: He's a gossipy talk show host and grade-A prick, but he seems to have a popular show and good-publicity. [[spoiler: Implicitly, this is all according to Darkseid's plan.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bane]]
[[WMG: Bane]]
->Voiced by Creator/DannyTrejo

* BatmanGambit: A small-scale one, he guides the team into routing out the warehouse for him, then attempts to entomb them in a tunnel when they can't do the job in order to get the League to intervene. He reasons he can clean up once the dust settles.
* BigBadWannabe
* ExpressiveMask: One of the most expressive in the series. At times, it almost looks like face-paint.
* GeniusBruiser: One of the few times he's portrayed as this outside of the comics.
* GratuitousSpanish
* GrowingMusclesSequence: Whenever he injects himself with venom.
* PsychicStatic: Recites Spanish and fútbol scores in his head to block out Miss Martian's mind reading abilities.
* SleevesAreForWimps: Wears a black undershirt.
* SuperSerum: The Venom drug, which gives the user immense strength and muscle.
* SuperStrength: When he's on Venom.
* VillainTeamUp: Provides security for Luthor on his island in exchange for Apokalyptian technology in "Usual Suspects".
* TheWorfEffect: Gets curbstomped by Mammoth.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Brick]]
[[WMG: Brick (Danny Brickwell)]]
->Voiced by Creator/KharyPayton

* BadassInANiceSuit: And he was rightly pissed when Speedy ruined the suit. Do you know how much it costs to get a suit in his size?
* BeardOfEvil
* ClothingDamage: Thanks to Speedy's exploding arrows.
* DarkSkinnedBlond
* ScaryBlackMan
* SleevesAreForWimps: In Belle Reve.
* SuperStrength
* SuperToughness: Can withstand small explosives.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Despero]]
[[WMG:Despero]]
-> Voiced by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker

* {{Badass}}: He's strong enough to smack around Superboy and Captain Marvel without breaking a sweat.
* ChallengeSeeker: His motivation for coming to Earth.
* DoesNotLikeMagic: According to L-Ron, it's considered "cheating," as Despero prefers a "hands-on" approach.
* GladiatorGames: Forces his intended opponents into one. According to L-Ron, he is a gladiatorial champion of 92 star systems.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: Implied to be an aspect of his ChallengeSeeker motivation, collecting the heads of his opponents.
* MadeOfIron: He shrugged off getting hit by Captain Marvel's magic lightning.
* {{Omniglot}}: While he doesn't speak, he seems to at least understand both [[Franchise/StarWars R2-style beeps]] and English, having just encountered the latter.
* PsychicPowers: His third eye can produce a psychic blast that puts its victims in a silent, motionless trance. Interestingly, he only uses this against foes he's uninterested in fighting, and Bumblebee when she makes him particularly mad.
* ThirdEye: Through which he channels his PsychicPowers.
* TheVoiceless: Whether by choice or incapability is unknown.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Well, won't ''duel'' them, at least. He was giving a particularly brutal CurbStompBattle to [[{{Shazam}} Captain Marvel]] when the latter, trying to harm him with magic lightning, [[OlderAlterEgo turned back into Billy Batson]]; Despero, unimpressed, [[PsychicPowers put him in a trance]] and then just left him on the ground.

[[WMG:L-Ron]]
--> Voiced by Creator/PhilLaMarr

* TheDragon: Serves as Despero's majordomo.
* {{Omniglot}}: His default mode of speech seems to be [[Franchise/StarWars R2-style beeps]], but he adapts to English quickly after he starts communicating to the Team.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When his patience runs out.
* RobotBuddy: To Despero.
* TakingYouWithMe: Activates a self-destruct when his master is beaten.
* TelescopingRobot: He is utterly stuffed with guns. [[spoiler:Not that he gets a chance to use them.]]
* VerbalTic: He ends a lot of words with "-ism," even when its being translated from his beeping.
* VoiceForTheVoiceless: Communicates all of Despero's unspoken intent.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Harm]]
[[WMG: Harm (William Hayes)]]
-> Voiced by Creator/BenDiskin

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Except with a sword.
* ArrowCatch: Catches several of Artemis's arrows.
* BadassLongcoat
* BadassNormal: At least, from what we can see, he's a normal human who just happens to wield a magical sword.
* CainAndAbel: See below.
* CreepyMonotone
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: He's pale enough to pass for a vampire.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Defied. To gain his "purity," he [[spoiler:murdered the only person he loved: his little sister. [[NotSoStoic But he didn't count on seeing her ghost...]]]]
* EvilSoundsDeep
* FingerlessGloves
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: To some level. He's pretty much the only villain in the entire show who does not work for or is associated with someone who works for, or was an unknowing pawn of the Light and whose actions did not affect the Light's goals in any way whatsoever.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has fourth claw marks across his left eye.
* ImplacableMan: [[InfinityPlusOneSword The Sword of Beowulf]] grants him this power.
* ItIsDehumanizing: How he refers to others. Can be a bit awkward when it leads him to say things like "the its" and "the other it".
* KnifeNut: Also has some throwing knives.
* KnightOfCerebus: He only appeared in one episode, but it was the HalloweenEpisode so he caused most of the humour to go out of the window.
* NoShirtLongJacket
* PureIsNotGood: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] when he explains how he can hold the Sword of Beowulf.
* RuggedScar: Has a claw-like scar on his face.
* SmugSnake
* TheSociopath: Shows no remorse for [[spoiler: murdering his sister.]] [[SubvertedTrope This gets subverted,]] though, because he ''[[VillainousBreakdown completely loses his cool]]'' when [[spoiler: Secret actually shows up.]]
* SuperpowerMeltdown: [[spoiler: After Secret removes the pure evil from his heart, [[InfinityPlusOneSword the Sword Of Beowulf]] violently rejects him and removes the powers it bestowed upon him.]]
* SwordBeam
* ThirdPersonPerson: How he refers to himself, but [[spoiler:interestingly he drops it as a result of his VillainousBreakdown, shouting "Harm is not sorry- I'M NOT!" just before losing his power.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks
* TheUnfettered: He tries to attain this state to master the sword by [[spoiler:killing his sister, but her appearing again fetters and defeats him.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: Begins a gradual one when [[spoiler: Secret leads Artemis and Zatanna to the roof of his home.]] Eventually he even drops the ThirdPersonPerson act when [[spoiler: Secret emerges from her grave and removes the 'purity' of his heart.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lobo]]
[[WMG:{{Lobo}}]]
->Voiced by Creator/DavidSobolov

* AmusingAlien
* BadassBiker
* BoisterousBruiser
* BountyHunter
* CoolBike[=/=]CoolSpaceship: His spaceship is a rocket bike.
* FantasticSlurs: "Krolo." He has a habit of using the word Keezy in a derogatory sense; Keezy Fem, Keezy Krolo.
** "Krolo" is actually just short for Krolotean, and "Fem" means 'girl' - "Keezy" roughly translates to "small" or "puny," only with an ''extremely'' derogatory connotation.
* HooksAndCrooks: This version has one in gun form.
* ImplacableMan
* NominalHero: He's not evil, and technically as a bounty hunter he's likely to be working on the side of good, but "hero" isn't a word that can really describe him.
* PardonMyKlingon: Mixes some "swears" in his native language, like "frag".
* PunchClockVillain: He arrived on Earth to get his target, curbstomped everyone in his way, got the target, and then went away, even being quite delicate (Batgirl and the normal bodyguards survived, after all).
* WouldHitAGirl: Has no problem attacking Batgirl and Wonder Girl when they get in his way.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mongul]]
[[WMG:Mongul]]
-> Voiced by Creator/KeithDavid

* AdaptationalHeroism: In the comics, he's a completely amoral asshole who has no real motivation other than "[[ForTheEvulz be a colossal dick]]." Here, he's not exactly a good person by any means, but his apparent desire to bring down the Reach is very understandable even if his methods aren't nice.
* {{Badass}}: Strong enough to fight Black Beetle; though it's not clear who would have won, Mongul held his own.
** BadassBaritone
* CastingGag: [[{{Halo}} This isn't Keith David's first time playing an alien attacking Earth.]]
* TheDreaded: He seems to be this if the reaction to his presence in the courtroom on Rimbor is any indication.
* EvilVsEvil: Hates the Reach and is actively against them. [[spoiler:Invoked in "The Hunt" when Arsenal releases him from containment, knowing he'll go after Black Beetle. He does.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep
* GalacticConqueror: Having lost his original world to an unspecified usurper, he plans to use the [=WarWorld=] to conquer the rest of the galaxy before taking it back. He sees the Reach's takeover of the meta-gene rich Earth as a threat to this plan.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: He's defeated when Bumblebee reroutes the power of the [=WarWorld=] straight to his command center, electrocuting him severely. This weakens him enough to be beaten by the group that he had previously easily dealt with.
* TheJuggernaut: Brute strength, missiles, lassos, hardening gel; he {{No Sell}}s everything and keeps going.
* LetsYouAndHimFight: Against Black Beetle, courtesy of [[DangerouslyGenreSavvy Arsenal]].
* MercyKill: He views destroying the Earth as a favor to its populace, considering what their lives under the Reach would be if allowed to continue.
* OneManArmy: With the [=WarWorld=] under his command, Mongul has enough firepower at his command to outmatch the Reach armada, to say nothing of the resistance Earth itself could put up. And even if they got by its defenses, his freakish strength makes him a match for any combatant, even Black Beetle.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: Implies that his race is also empowered by a yellow sun.
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SpannerInTheWorks: He threw a massive wrench in the Reach's plans. They had to expose their hidden armada (two-thirds of which were obliterated by the [=WarWorld=]) and [[spoiler:the fact that Jaime is now working for them]]. Worse still, [[spoiler:the Light then took away the [=WarWorld=]'s key and rescued the heroes Jaime had captured]].
* TheStoic: Mongul is remarkably calm, even as the team infiltrates the [=WarWorld=].
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: The [=WarWorld=] is covered with enough guns and missile launchers that the Justice League and the Reach armada would have probably lost by attrition, and that's not even counting the WaveMotionGun and endless supply of anti-personnel drones to curtail boarders. Whoever built it obviously wanted it to be a force to be reckoned with.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He wants to curtail the Reach's conquest of Earth as much as the Justice League, [[EarthShatteringKaboom but he has different ideas about how to do that.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Neutron]]
[[WMG:Neutron (Nathaniel Tryon)]]
-> Voiced by Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the comics, he's a sadistic PsychoForHire, in the cartoon he's just an unlucky guy forced into a horrible process.
* AffectionateNickname: The Runaways call him Neut.
* AntiVillain: Type IV, for most of his appearance he's brainwashed [[spoiler: and when he's not, see the next trope.]]
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:His powers soon went out of control, and he murdered Flash. An older Nathaniel confides in Impulse to get to the past and stop him from killing Flash and prevent the Reach from destroying everything, giving Impulse a pill to cure him.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The mind control is in his suit.
* BaldOfEvil: In reality, not all that evil.
* CreepyMonotone: When in the suit.
* DePower: Impulse uses a blue pill to cure him. He still ends up at Star Labs for testing, though.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: [[spoiler: Even after Impulse changes the past, Mount Justice is still in ruins.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: It's implied he killed Barry Allen Flash, and stated that he helped lay ruin to the Earth with the Reach. However, when Impulse fixes the mistake, Mount Justice is still in ruins. The ash is no longer falling from the sky, however.]]
* ScarsAreForever: His final appearance [[spoiler: in the future]] has him sporting a large scar on his face. [[spoiler: Subverted when Impulse changes the past, and the scar fades.]]
* WaveMotionGun: Literally, he sends his power up in waves, and the energy builds up eventually if he doesn't release it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Reach]]
[[WMG:In General]]

Also known as the Kroloteans' Competitor, The Reach are an alien species who came to Earth in 2016, where they soon allied themselves with The Light. They seek to weaponize human superpowers, which they refer to as the "meta-gene", to expand their own empire.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: While the Reach had fought the Green Lantern Corps to a standstill in the distant past, the modern-day Reach in the comics were highly intelligent but militarily weak; they relied on GenreSavvy and guile to enact a century-long scheme to conquer the Earth. On Earth-16, though, [[spoiler: they reduce the Earth to a blasted wasteland in less than a few decades]]. Particularly notable is each Reach's choice of [[TheDragon Dragon]]: Dawur of the comics is beaten by a teenager with a stick. Black Beetle of the show singlehandedly and effortlessly takes down Superboy, Wonder Girl, Robin, Lagoon Boy, and Bumblebee.
* AlienInvasion
* BigBadDuumvirate: With The Light in Season 2.
** [[spoiler:EvilVsEvil: In reality, though, the Light has been consistently playing them while letting the Reach think they're the ones calling the shots. However, at the end of Season 2, Black Beetle becomes the DragonAscendant and plans to destroy the Earth - he fails, of course.]]
* CallAHumanAMeatbag
* CompositeCharacter: In the comics, the Reach never had an interest in using the human metagene. That trait is taken from the Dominators.
* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: All of them are known only by their roles, with the three major Reach characters being Ambassador, Scientist, and Warrior (Black Beetle).
* MookLieutenant: The regular faceless mooks are lead by a leader with a wider visor.
* TheNoseless: Of the literal variety.
* PowersAsPrograms
* SinisterSilhouettes: Until "Before The Dawn", they're nothing but shadowy figures involved in a number of attacks on the Team.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: As things get worse for them, they have an increasingly difficult time getting along. Black Beetle in particular doesn't approve of the Ambassador's fear of direct confrontation.
* TerribleTrio: The three named Reach agents - Ambassador, Scientist, and Black Beetle.
* VampireInvitation: John Stewart reveals that as part of their treaty with the Green Lanterns the Reach may not conquer a planet unless they're invited there.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: When their ship is discovered by the Team, they immediately go to the United Nations building and introduce themselves as friends, in order to preempt any attempt by the Team to paint them as the bad guys. [[spoiler:After the events of "War", the good publicity falls apart, culminating in "Summit", where their invitation to Earth is retracted.]]

[[WMG:The Ambassador]]
-->Voiced by Creator/PhilLaMarr

The leader of Reach operations on Earth.
----
* AdaptationNameChange: His title is Negotiator in the comics.
* {{Angrish}}: His response to [[spoiler:learning that the Light has been covertly screwing him over at every turn]] is a rage-filled scream followed by an angry rant.
* BigBad: Of the Reach as a whole.
* TheChessmaster: He effortlessly manipulates Captain Atom, turning every attempt to expose the Reach as villains back on him by revealing secrets the League doesn't want known, and even discrediting possible witnesses as impressionable fans.
* DeathGlare: Gives a pretty good one in "Intervention" to [[spoiler:the Scientist]] when his plans fall apart again.
-->"[[PunctuatedForEmphasis Say one. More. Word.]]"
* EvilChancellor
* FauxAffablyEvil
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: His reliance on G. Gordon Godfrey comes back to bite him when the anti-alien reporter calls him out on lying about the Reach's military power, live on national television.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Major character flaw is his insistence on ignoring Scientist's advice and Black Beetle's superior tactical advantage in favor of his preferance of playing others and using his Beetle puppets (ie: Doing everything his way). He ignored Scientists attempts to study Blue in favor of getting him under control ASAP, and not only does he ignore Black's suggestions of direct confrontation but refuses to let him assist at Bialya. If he'd done either they wouldn't have lost in Intervention, and when his scheming falls apart he has nothing to fall back on.
* NonActionBigBad
* NotSoStoic: He's pretty soft-spoken, or at the very least upbeat. "War" shows him severely annoyed, even angry, though his mood improves by the end.
** Happens even more so in "The Hunt" when things just keep worsening for the Reach.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: His death threat in "Intervention" is so hilariously nerdy that [[spoiler:Jaime]] mocks him for it.
* SmugSnake: While his strategy is sound, he underestimates his opponents severely, [[spoiler:failing to realise that his own so-called allies, the Light, are manipulating him much more competently than he could ever hope to manipulate them.]]
* TronLines
* VillainousBreakdown: Seems to be undergoing one that started in "War" and has continued ever since. He is noticeably furious and having trouble controlling his temper as things begin going south for the Reach. It finally reaches its head in "Summit" when [[spoiler:the Team reveals that not only has the Light been playing against the Reach, but the Team completely OutGambitted ''both'' of them. He basically loses it when Black Beetle turns on him and leaves him to be captured.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:On the wrong end of this from Black Beetle]].

[[WMG:The Scientist]]
-->Voiced by Masasa Moyo

A Reach scientist who researches applications for human meta-gene.
----
* BeleagueredAssistant: Shows signs of this alongside Black Beetle to the Ambassador.
* CanonForeigner: In the comics, it was just the Negotiator (Ambassador), Dawur (Black Beetle), and a cadre of mooks.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: When Black Beetle usurps control of the Reach and leaves the Ambassador to his fate, he takes the Scientist with him, having decided she might still be useful.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Implied to have overseen the torture of dozens of children.
* IWarnedYou: If the Ambassador had heeded her warnings, The Team would never have been able to save Blue and Green Beetle from Reach control.
** Gives this one last go in "Endgame" [[spoiler:when she and her colleagues are taken into the custody of the Guardians of the Universe]]. Seeing the decidedly irritated looks on their faces causes the Scientist to raise a [[FascinatingEyebrow quizzical eyebrow]] and ultimately [[KnowWhenToFoldEm lower her head in shameful defeat]].
* MadScientist: Black Beetle even jokes about it.
-->'''Black Beetle''': Admit it, you just like playing with the meat.
-->'''Scientist''': Well, there's that too.
* PlayingWithSyringes
* WomenAreWiser: Is the only female Reach member we see, is much more logical than the Ambassador and [[IgnoredExpert is usually right.]]

[[WMG:Black Beetle/The Warrior]]
-->Voiced by Kevin Grevioux

An agent of The Reach equipped with a Scarab device identical to Blue Beetle's.
----
* {{Badass}}: Beats the entire rescue team by himself in "Before the Dawn". He doesn't need any real tricks to do it, either; he is both better-equipped and physically stronger than every member of the team. Only Blue Beetle stands a chance against him, for obvious reasons.
** BadassBaritone
** BadassBoast:
--->'''Wonder Girl:''' Listen, ahh... Black Beetle! You're totally outnumbered. Open those doors, and we'll go easy on you!\\
'''Black Beetle:''' You... will go easy? On ''me''? [[EvilLaugh Hehehe hahaha... HAHAHAHA]]!!\\
'''Bumblebee:''' Oh, [[ThisIsGonnaSuck that is not a good sign.]]
*** From "Endgame"
---> '''Aqualad''': You are alone.\\
'''Black Beetle''': I am sufficient.
* BloodKnight: Called out on this by Green Beetle.
* [[spoiler:BroughtDownToNormal]]
* ColorCharacter: '''Black''' Beetle.
* CompositeCharacter: He's basically Dawur from the comics with Black Beetle's name, who in the comics is human and really has nothing to do with the Reach besides the fact that he uses a Scarab.
* DarkIsEvil
** LightIsNotGood: His energy attacks manifest as a white/silvery light, as opposed to Blue Beetle's less dichotomous blue light.
* DragonAscendant: Deems the Ambassador to be unfit to lead, abandons him, and takes command of the Reach.
** [[spoiler: He goes down pretty quickly, though.]]
* TheDreaded
* EvilCounterpart: To Blue Beetle.
* EvilLaugh
* EvilSoundsDeep: He has a deep, bass voice. And no, it isn't digitally altered.
* FauxAffablyEvil: At times.
* GeniusBruiser: He instantly recognizes M'gann's method of intangibility and knows how to alter the density of the wall to knock her out, and like Green and Blue he probably has access to all of the Scarab's knowledge.
* HeroKiller: When this guy shows up, the good guys do their best to run away as fast as they can.
* [[spoiler:HoistByHisOwnPetard: Tries to hack and destroy Blue Beetle's Scarab, but due to the two of them working together, they reverse the hacking and destroy his. [[YouAreTooLate Unfortunately, his endgame plan was already put in effect.]]]]
* ImaginationBasedSuperpower
* {{Jerkass}}: Probably one of the least sympathetic villains in the whole show.
* KnightOfCerebus
* LeaveNoWitnesses: [[spoiler:When the Reach lose their invitation to stay on Earth, the Scientist is worried that the Green Lantern Corps will find evidence of their treaty violations. Black Beetle figures that there won't be any evidence if they destroy the planet.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: See LeaveNoWitnesses.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Pummels Wonder Girl into a door after he traps Miss Martian between it while she's shifting through.
-->'''Wonder Girl:''' What did you do to her?\\
'''Black Beetle:''' Shifted the density of the door. Wasn't quite prepared for that, was she? But don't be jealous; I can put you halfway through the door, too. [[DontExplainTheJoke Halfway, the hard way]].
* NotBrainwashed: Green Beetle tries to use the same technique that he used to reprogram Blue Beetle on Black, only to discover that while Black may have to follow orders, he otherwise has complete control of his body. Green Beetle's attempt then backfires when Black Beetle uses the connection to destroy his Scarab. This is later expanded on when his own Scarab is destroyed and he's become little more than a snarling monster, giving the Ambassador and the Scientist a DeathGlare.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Wonder Girl makes up the nickname "Black Beetle" for him on the fly; his actual name is initially unknown.
** HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: As is standard with the Reach. The Scientist refers to him as Black Beetle when speaking to the Ambassador in "The Hunt." Later, he's simply referred to as "Warrior" in the same vein that his colleagues are "Ambassador" and "Scientist."
* OnlySaneMan: To an extent for the Reach command.
* SmugSuper: As an experienced Beetle, he's a Justice League-level threat, and absolutely revels in it.
* TheStarscream: Downplayed. He doesn't like [[spoiler: The Ambassador's plans and failings... but doesn't do anything about it, until the Ambassador is captured. Black Beetle refuses to save him and takes over the Reach's operations. He does this all with legal precedent, and doesn't actively overthrow like most examples.]]
* SuperSenses: While he may not have SuperSpeed, his Scarab can process information even faster than Impulse can move, allowing him to perceive time as if Impulse were running at the speed of a normal human.
* SuperStrength: Enough to trade blows with [[TheJuggernaut Mongul]], and possibly beat him (though that may simply have been boasting on his part).
* SwissArmyWeapon
** ArmCannon
** {{BFG}}
** BladeBelowTheShoulder
** ChestBlaster
** {{Energy Weapon}}s
** JetPack
** MultiArmedAndDangerous
** NailEm
** PlugNPlayTechnology
** PoweredArmor
** RazorWings
** SonicStunner
** ShockAndAwe
** UniversalTranslator
* VillainousBreakdown: When his attempt to destroy Blue Beetle's Scarab [[spoiler:is turned back on him.]]
* WouldHitAGirl
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Reds]]
[[WMG:Red Torpedo, Red Inferno and Red Volcano]]
->Voiced by Creator/JeffBennett (Red Torpedo and Red Volcano) and Creator/VanessaMarshall (Red Inferno)

* AIIsACrapshoot: Red Volcano, designed not to care about humanity, [[HoistByHisOwnPetard predictably turns on his creator]].
** {{Inverted|Trope}} with the others, who were designed to infiltrate and betray the Justice Society but never did.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs
* BigLittleBrother: Volcano is much more muscular and taller than Torpedo, Inferno and Tornado. He also acts like he is their senior.
* CallAHumanAMeatbag: Red Volcano goes from "humans" to "meatbags" in order to include non-human members of the Team.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Red Torpedo and Firebrand, tied to their PinocchioSyndrome. [[spoiler:It brings about [[RedemptionEqualsDeath their downfall.]]]]
* ColorCharacter
* CurbStompBattle: Delivered to the team.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Torpedo and Inferno don't show themselves during their initial attack on Robin and Artemis, meaning 5 minutes later they can trick them into thinking they are Red Tornado When this fails, they immediately resort to threatening the lives of the rest of the team, kept alive presumably for that purpose. So within 10 minutes they have thoroughly outplayed them. Volcano, likewise, sees right through Red Tornado and his fake FaceHeelTurn.
** In the second season, [[spoiler:when Volcano attacks Star Labs, the first thing he does is destroy the zeta tube in the lab, nullifying any chance of heroes teleporting in as reinforcements. Luckily, Blue Beetle was nearby.]]
* DemotedToDragon: In the first season, Red Volcano tries to wipe out most of human life. In the second, he tries to steal parts of AMAZO (which could help him in that goal), but is apparently working for Lex Luthor. It's not clear if he's deliberately working for Luthor, reprogrammed, or was just tricked by him.
* DistaffCounterpart: Red Inferno to everyone else.
** {{Fembot}}
* ElementalPowers:
** DishingOutDirt: Red Volcano
** MakingASplash: Red Torpedo
** PlayingWithFire: Red Inferno
* EvilCounterpart: To Red Tornado. [[spoiler:Volcano is, anyway. It's a bit more complicated for Torpedo and Inferno.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep: Volcano.
* FallenHero: Not their decision, but Torpedo and Inferno.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Red Volcano does not care for humanity, ''including'' [[HoistByHisOwnPetard his father.]]
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:"Killer" would be an exaggeration but the only reason Red Volcano fails in his plans is because Torpedo and Inferno decide to turn on him for the sake of humanity.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: Firebrand for the original Flash. [[spoiler:Torpedo and Inferno again, to keep Volcano from destroying humanity.]]
* [[ImplacableMan Implacable Robots]]
* KillerRobot: An entire trio of them.
* LegacyCharacter: Red Inferno was the second Firebrand, according to WordOfGod.
* MeaningfulRename: Red Inferno was originally "Firebrand."
* PinocchioSyndrome: Red Torpedo and Red Inferno. Averted with Red Volcano. [[KillAllHumans Definitely.]]
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:For Torpedo and Inferno.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* RedHeadedHero: Torpedo and Firebrand in their human forms.
* RoboticPsychopath: Red Volcano was built to be this.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: They have Red Inferno, an android programmed to believe she was a human female.
* SoLastSeason: Red Volcano was more than a match for the entire team in the first season, and they couldn't even stop him without help. In the second season, Blue Beetle beats him solo.
* SmugSuper: Red Volcano ''breathes'' this trope.
* TakingTheBullet: Firebrand does it for the Flash.
* ThemeNaming: The Reds are named after their elemental powers.
* TronLines: Red Volcano has red ones.
* UnexplainedRecovery: We never learn how Red Volcano survived his defeat in the first season. Nightwing doesn't even sound surprised that he's back.

* {{Expy}}: Bares an uncanny resemblance to [[TheSimpsons Comic Book Guy]].
* HumongousMecha: Pilots a giant toy soldier.
* IncrediblyLamePun: Makes a cringe-worthy "break the bank" pun.

[[WMG:{{Darkseid}}]]

* BaldOfEvil
* DarkIsEvil
* TheDreaded: Implied. None of the Forever People wanted to speak his name, and Desaad backtracked almost instantly when he claimed that Infinity-Man was his to control, clarifying that Infinity-Man would belong to "my master", as if he were worried that Darkseid could hear him.

* RedEyesTakeWarning
* TortureTechnician

* KentBrockmanNews
* LargeHam: You'd expect less from someone played by Tim Curry?

* PhysicalGod: He's actually [[spoiler: Glorious Godfrey, Darkseid's chief propagandist.]]
* PropagandaMachine
* StrawmanNewsMedia: As a heavily biased TalkShow host.

* BigBadWannabe
* ExpressiveMask: One of the most expressive in the series. At times, it almost looks like face-paint.
* GeniusBruiser: One of the few times he's portrayed as this outside of the comics.
* GratuitousSpanish
* GrowingMusclesSequence: Whenever he injects himself with venom.
* PsychicStatic: Recites Spanish and fútbol scores in his head to block out Miss Martian's mind reading abilities.

* CainAndAbel: See below.
* CreepyMonotone

* NoShirtLongJacket
* PureIsNotGood: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] when he explains how he can hold the Sword of Beowulf.

* AmusingAlien
* BadassBiker
* BoisterousBruiser
* BountyHunter
* ImplacableMan

[[folder:Mongul]]
[[WMG:Mongul]]

He does.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep
* RedEyesTakeWarning

* AlienInvasion
* CallAHumanAMeatbag
* PowersAsPrograms

-->Voiced by Creator/PhilLaMarr

-->"[[PunctuatedForEmphasis Say one. More. Word.]]"
* EvilChancellor
* FauxAffablyEvil
* NonActionBigBad
* TronLines

-->Voiced by Masasa Moyo

-->'''Scientist''': Well, there's that too.
* PlayingWithSyringes
* WomenAreWiser: Is the only female Reach member we see, is much more logical than the Ambassador and [[IgnoredExpert is usually right.]]

[[WMG:Black Beetle/The Warrior]]
-->Voiced by Kevin Grevioux

'''Black Beetle''': I am sufficient.
* BloodKnight: Called out on this by Green Beetle.
* [[spoiler:BroughtDownToNormal]]
* ColorCharacter: '''Black''' Beetle.
* CompositeCharacter: He's basically Dawur from the comics with Black Beetle's name, who in the comics is human and really has nothing to do with the Reach besides the fact that he uses a Scarab.
* DarkIsEvil
* TheDreaded
* EvilCounterpart: To Blue Beetle.
* EvilLaugh
* EvilSoundsDeep: He has a deep, bass voice. And no, it isn't digitally altered.
* FauxAffablyEvil: At times.
* ImaginationBasedSuperpower
* {{Jerkass}}: Probably one of the least sympathetic villains in the whole show.
* KnightOfCerebus
* LeaveNoWitnesses: [[spoiler:When the Reach lose their invitation to stay on Earth, the Scientist is worried that the Green Lantern Corps will find evidence of their treaty violations. Black Beetle figures that there won't be any evidence if they destroy the planet.]]

* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs
* ColorCharacter
** {{Fembot}}
* ElementalPowers:
** DishingOutDirt: Red Volcano
** MakingASplash: Red Torpedo
** PlayingWithFire: Red Inferno
* EvilCounterpart: To Red Tornado. [[spoiler:Volcano is, anyway. It's a bit more complicated for Torpedo and Inferno.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep: Volcano.
* [[ImplacableMan Implacable Robots]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning

[[folder:Toyman]]
[[WMG: Toyman]]
-->Voiced by Cameron Bowen

* TheCameo: Essentially what his role boils down to.
* CutLexLuthorACheck: He builds a giant robot to rob a bank because constructing robots for his own personal use is expensive.
* {{Expy}}: Bares an uncanny resemblance to [[TheSimpsons Comic Book Guy]].
* HumongousMecha: Pilots a giant toy soldier.
* IncrediblyLamePun: Makes a cringe-worthy "break the bank" pun.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When Blue Beetle shows up, he immediately tries to retreat.
* OhCrap: His reaction to Blue showing up. Though considering he was expecting Superman...

* It'sAllAboutMe: Major character flaw is his insistence on ignoring Scientist's advice and Black Beetle's superior tactical advantage in favor of his preferance of playing others and using his Beetle puppets (ie: Doing everything his way).

* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: The [=WarWorld=] ''embodies'' this trope to a ludicrous degree. It's covered with enough guns and missile launchers that the Justice League and the Reach armada would have probably lost by attrition, and that's not even counting the WaveMotionGun and endless supply of anti-personnel drones to curtail boarders. Whoever built it obviously wanted it to be a force to be reckoned with.
