* DistressedDamsel: Happens quite often, but only in the earlier arcs. She upgrades to an ActionGirl

One of the participants is a ninja. He makes a couple of cameos and is one of the strongest partecipants. Apparently he gets defeated by [[spoiler: Onimaru]].

Sixth descendant of the legendary Shinsengumi [[MasterSwordsman ''Kensei'']], he's a young and powerful swordsmaster. Extremely good naturated and kind, is also a fearsome opponent with an amazing skill. Wields the famed Kikuichimonji katana.

* ILetYouWin: After noticing that Yaiba's assaults grow stronger and stronger as he gets up and surprised by the ''Toujin'' technique, he decide to quit. Also done in order to avoid to kill Yaiba of course.

* TheDarkChick: Diamond [[spoiler: and Emerald]].

* BladeOnAStick: The Snake-God Pike, Snakeman's spear: it has four prongs and the main body is covered in snake-like decorations.

* BladeOnAStick: He can create a large ''juumonji yari'' (double-edged spear with cross-like blade) to use with great skill.

* BladeOnAStick: She uses the "Shinai" version of a naginata. That means, a naginata with a bamboo curved blade.

* AlluringAnglerfish: Yakitori, who speaks softly and has a really large stomach.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: The Japanese people aren't really worried about having a demon as leader. Ok, they attempted an Air Raid on his castle, but..

* MsFanservice: Despite being a villain, her outfit and [[BuxomIsBetter buxom chest]] certainly fits this. Even the manga had fun with this in some of the SideStoryBonusArt.

* DeliciousDistraction: Subverted when Bonaparte sees a bunch of fruit hanging from a thread and calls the heroes foold for thinking they can lure him out with such methods... only for Yaiba to dangle a butterfly in front of him, which works perfectly.

* YouHaveFailedMe: Onimaru send the Snakeman to kill him after he failed to get rid of Yaiba.

* DefeatMeansFriendship: Downplayed, after being defeated by Yaiba he's kept prisoner by him until the Snakeman doesn't reveal that Onimaru wants him dead. With nowhere to go he joins the heroes.

* IaijutsuPractictioner: During the penultimate arc, he reveals an ace in the sleeve in the Yoko Ichimonji, a super-fast iaido attack which almost kills Yaiba

* CombatPragmatist: At least Yaiba knows when to hold his strength, but she says that a true samurai should use all his strenght in any battle

A mighty warrior whose body was powered up thanks to "microunits" which turns him in a restless, powerful fighter who feels no pain and can increase his speed and strenght as he fights. He's the champion of the Platina leader [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Gakuso Shirogane]] and fights Yaiba in an elettrified ring.

* MuggingAMonster: His introduction has him trying to ambush Yaiba, only to leap right into the fireplace, ruining his and Kenjuro's meal.

* RememberTheNewGuy: A minor case: he appears near the end of the first volume (pretty soon then) but he's treated like a very old friend.

* RubberMan: Their bodies are extremly bouncy ([[{{Gainaxing}} No, not ''that'' kind of bounce]]) and they also can stretch their arms at will.

* AnAxeToGrind: His weapon of choice, though most of the time he either uses his tongue or bare hands.

* DishingOutDirt: The Rock Soldier can conjure stones to form AnAxeToGrind, which, judging from his effects, is MadeOfExplodium.

* EnergyWeapons: Including a [[AnAxeToGrind large battleaxe]] for Ruby, a [[CoolSword copy of the Raijin Sword]] for Sapphire, a [[SinisterScythe Scythe]] and several daggers of various size for Diamond. Jewel uses weird Javelin-like Orb and a [[{{BFS}} Greatsword]].

* HornyDevils: Before facing Yaiba, Rain appears to him as a beautiful schoolgirl and invite him on the roof for "giving him something"...
