* AdaptationalHeroism: The Roger Rabbit of the original book was somewhat shifty and definitely not the NiceGuy he pretended to be; the Roger of the movie is genuinely a NiceGuy.

* BecomingTheMask: According to the sequel graphic novel, he was a Toon called [[spoiler: Baron Von Rotten]] who merely was an actor who played villains, although an accident on stage made him believe he was a [[AxCrazy psychotic]], [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] lunatic ''for real.''

* {{Toon}}: A rather dark and disturbing take on this idea. As Judge Doom, he's portrayed for most of the film as an extremely anti-Toon human judge with over the top villainy and ambitions. While one could call him eccentric, something seems to be very "wrong" as he has pearly white teeth, stiff movements, completely dark glasses and a black outfit that covers the entirety of his body that he seems to desperate to hide. Underneath all that, [[spoiler:he has the usual cartoonish childishness, but channeled into psychopathy and sadism. He also has mastered the use of ToonPhysics to make his body itself into a very versatile lethal weapon]].
