* JerkassHasAPoint: In her character quote above, where she mocks the story's ArcWords ("Without love, it cannot be seen"), and says that love can make people see things that don't exist. [[spoiler:Later on, the story delves into the more negative aspects of ThePowerOfLove, such as Kinzo deluding himself into believing his daughter Beatrice Ushiromiya was the reincarnation of her mother and [[ParentalIncest the tragic results]].]]

* WouldHitAGirl: He claims to be in favor of gender equality, so he can punch useless people equally.

* SupremeChef: Lion is skilled at cooking according to WordOfGod, due to being a firm believer in gender equality and that "regardless of gender, one should be able to stand in the kitchen". Which does seem to imply that Lion's biological sex, [[spoiler:as well as Sayo Yasuda's,]] [[RealMenCook is male]], but implications are implications... Although, if you really want to make it fit with a female Lion, I suppose you could take the viewpoint that Lion's belief in gender equality means "she" usually doesn't like to behave in a manner considered "normal" for women, but "she" considers cooking the exception. Admittedly, that may be a bit of a stretch though.

Added DiffLines:

* PronounTrouble: Probably even worse than [[spoiler:Yasu]]. While it's easier to get away with it in Japanese, translators have a very hard time finding a natural way to refer to Lion.

Added DiffLines:

* WellDoneDaughterGirl: She's desperate for her master's approval and tries her best to live up to her expectations. While it's somewhat justified because Erika knows very well that Bernkastel won't hesitate to throw her into oblivion if she fails her, she gets a little too happy in the rare occasions where she does get her master's praise.

Added DiffLines:

* NicePerson: Lion is very polite and well-adjusted.

* TheWatson: Will H. Wright calls them this. Lion even turns it back on him at one point by calling him "Willard Holmes". Will and Lion's dynamic is actually quite similar to that of [[Literature/SherlockHolmes the original Holmes and Watson]]; though Lion is out of the loop at first in regards to Bernkastel's game and has to have some things explained by Will, he/she is still intelligent, more down-to-earth and has better social skills while Will is also intelligent but has some notable quirks.

* ForWantOfANail: As previously stated, Lion is Natsuhi's first child if [[spoiler:s/he wasn't thrown off the cliff by her]]. Bernkastel actually states that the probability of that was [[MillionToOneChance 1/2578917]]. It's also interesting to note that in the world where s/he exists [[spoiler:the epitaph and ghost stories about Beatrice do not exist, and Battler does not go back to the island]].
