"Dating couple" (who weren't really dating). Sarah was the first amputee (left leg) to complete the Iron Man Triathlon, but any goodwill the team had due to her disability was immediately destroyed by Peter's behavior, as he turned into a complete {{Jerkass}} who constantly berated Sarah to tears. Though they were the favorites for the first half of the season, they got dreadfully lost while looking for the Detour in Kuwait, and finished 7th.

* CastSpeciation: They were actually JustFriends and not a couple. While going through the casting process, they were told that there wasn’t a spot for another friends team but they needed another couple. They agreed to say they were friends who’d just started dating to get on the show. Ironically enough, Sarah’s actual husband is named Peter.

* ManipulativeEditing: Their relationship was created by the producers when they were actually JustFriends.

* ShesGotLegs: Kandice, in particular, who was a Rockette.

* GrumpyBear: Karlyn constantly complained, mostly about Dustin & Kandice.

* PositiveDiscrimination: Very much averted in the first leg, when both Tyler & James and Lyn & Karlyn got upset at Sarah for pre-boarding with other disabled passengers (which is particularly ridiculous considering they were all getting on the same plane, so who boarded first didn't matter).

* {{Jerkass}}: Karlyn, who spent the entire race being nasty to everyone who wasn't David & Mary or Erwin & Godwin.

Dad and daughter whose relationship had become strained ever since Lauren had come out as gay. Lauren was the first openly gay woman on the Race, and Duke was the first parent on the show to have yet fully come to terms with his child's sexuality. Though they started off strong, they got lost in the streets of Vac, Vietnam, stumbling upon the wrong Detour choice. Though they stuck out the birdcage Detour, it proved to be the longer of the two options, and they were eliminated in 9th.

* BadassBeard: Both of them.

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Starting with episode 7 and lasting up until their elimination. Teams became increasingly obsessed with them in their last two legs, with both episodes revolving almost completely around them. Judging by how the fans reacted to the Final 3, [[TropesAreNotBad this might not have been all that bad]] as fans either were rooting for the Beauty Queens by then, or it gave the fans that didn't like them someone to root against.

* ParanoiaFuel: [[{{In-Universe}} Inspired this in other teams, especially when it was down to four.]]

* ParanoiaFuel: [[{{In-Universe}} The other teams reacted]] to their elimination as if they just witnessed an execution.

* OutOfFocus: Like the teams eliminated in the first leg, they barely got any screen time.

* GenreSavvy: They worked the booking agents at Charles de Gaulle in the finale, securing tickets on the first flight the night before, while the other two teams had to be put on the wait list for the next morning.

* GenreSavvy: While they were waiting for the garden maze in Barcelona to open in the penultimate leg, they got a local to call a cab and have it waiting for them there once they had retrieved the clue, getting them a jump on the other teams for the Detour.

* {{Expy}}: For the first half of the season they were an Asian version of [[Characters/TheAmazingRace9 B.J. & Tyler]], they even took a moment to pay their respects to John [=McCain's=] flight suit in the Vietnam war prison (much like B.J. & Tyler's moment to admire the Russian cathedral). However, their actions in the second half of the season proved that they were not as hungry to win as the Hippies.

* ReliableTraitor: They would temporarily work with someone or willingly accept information if it got them further in the game, they just never had any intention of returning a favor unless it was in their own best interest. Their tendency to always do what they thought was best for them at that moment was so constant, that it allowed the Cho Bros. to fake them out of going for the Fast Forward in leg 6, ion order to let David & Mary go for it to overcome their Marked for Elimination penalty.

* GirlsNeedRoleModels: In her letter to Dustin & Kandice in All-Stars, Lyn considered them, her and Karlyn, and [[Characters/TheAmazingRace5 Linda & Karen]] role models.

* BlondesAreEvil: How all the other teams saw them.
