* AntiVillain: Similar to Pyramid Head, she's present largely to allow James to come to terms with what he's done. UNLIKE Pyramid Head, Mira's approach is entirely PlayedForLaughs

* LittlestCancerPatient: Implied to be her backstory -- she met Mary while they were hospitalised together -- though quite ''unlike'' Mary, she appears to have made a full recovery from whatever illness she was suffering from by the time the game takes place (and is actually a bit of a brat now). She still fulfils other specific aspects of this trope, however, such as being untouchable by the game's supernatural threats.

* ActionSurvivor: He's a store clerk. He survived [[EldritchLocation Silent Hill]]. 'Nuff said. Unless you count the [[spoiler:In Water]] ending. [[spoiler: Even then, however, the town plays no role in killing him. At least, not directly.]]

* {{Irony}}: She questions James if he's blind when he asks why she's even in Silent Hill in the first place. [[spoiler:In truth it's ''she'' who is blind to the monsters and terrors of Silent Hill, including Maria, since she has no sin on her conscience.]]

* KidHasAPoint:
** When she learns that Eddie ran away from the police, she pointedly asks him to just confess to his crimes. [[spoiler:Given how James is the only one who survives his hell by confronting his sins, she ends up figuring out the key to leaving Silent Hill for good.]] She also calls him a "gutless fatso", which is ''also'' accurate due to him [[spoiler:only confronting his bully through the use of a shotgun and also shot an innocent dog as well.]]
** If you're going for the "Maria" ending, then Laura makes a valid point that James didn't love Mary in the first place. [[spoiler:Not only is he escaping into another fantasy, but it's heavily implied that Maria will also succumb to disease and James will kill ''her'' in the future.]]

* TooDumbToLive: Depending on how you're playing Jame's story, James asking [[spoiler:Eddie]] "...have you gone nuts?" can be seen as this if you're playing to achieve an ending where James escapes the town. This is particularly dumb as the person in question is armed and ready for an excuse to shoot.

* PinkIsErotic: She wears lots of pink, has pink highlights in her hair, and her background reveals she's a stripper. The "erotic" part is justified since [[spoiler:she's a personification of James' sexual desires.]]

* WalkingSpoiler: You don't get to learn much about her aside from the fact that James killed her, and that fact is the primary twist of the game.

* HiddenHeartOfGold: Dealing internally with his guilt, he declares he [[spoiler:euthanized Mary, purely because he hated her and how she consumed his life and simply wanted her gone. Mary tells him, if this was really true, if this is what he really thought and wanted, [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre then why did he look so sad?]]]]

* AndIMustScream: According to notes from Masahiro Ito, their bubble-like head is actually a thin sac filled with fluid that covers the actual head and face, and their occasional twitching and jerking is from them suffocating and trying to shake it off.

* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:In the Maria ending, James accepts Maria as Mary's replacement and chooses to leave Silent Hill with her. It immediately becomes a PyrrhicVictory when Maria starts coughing, implying she'll [[HistoryRepeats suffer the same illness as Mary]], and James' threatening undertone implies he'll kill her if she falls ill.]]

* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler:If you don't get the "Leave" ending, what happens after Laura runs away from James is unknown. Whether she learns that James either stayed in Silent Hill, drowned or ran away with Maria, whether she'll make it back to the orphanage safely, or whether she'll even be adopted is up to the player. And even ''if'' you get the "Leave" ending, it's still up in the air whether she'll actually stay with James or she'll return to the orphanage.]]

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Unlike Angela and Eddie appearing in only [[FourIsDeath four cutscenes]], she appears in at least seven. [[spoiler:This references how she doesn't have any sins on hand and the only one whom Silent Hill can't tempt.]]

* ADayInTheLimelight: The later editions of ''Videogame/SilentHill2'' have an extra side-story, the "Born From a Wish" scenario, which features her as the playable main character.
