So, it turns out that if you unlock Hollow Forest, you HAVE to clear it. Even before entering the TV World, trying to select "Go back to town" or "Go back home" will only result in a message saying "You should focus on saving Marie right now."

It's important to note the circumstances in which Ameno-Sagiri is the last boss faced, rather than simply saying that he is; after all, a playthrough can end with Kunio-Sagiri as the Final Boss too. Also, since fighting Kusumi-no-Okami is required for the best possible ending (and you actually can't exit the TV World if you decide to go in until Hollow Forest is cleared), she's worth mentioning as well.
