* CursedWithAwesome: Aya's mitochrondrial powers lack the villainous insanity and BodyHorror that other people in this series go through--[[spoiler: she received the "special" mitochondria when she was still a child, and unlike Melissa, Aya's mitochondria evolved to the point where they are symbiotic with her body and work with her instead of taking outright control]]. However, they also keep her body younger than she really is, since a youthful host is advantageous.
-->'''Aya''': (looking in a bathroom mirror) ''Here's looking at you, kid, I look like I'm in my early 20s... It's nice, but there's a reason. It's what my mitochondria want. I never asked for this. A youthful host is advantageous. [[ShoutOut I saw a movie]] [[Film/{{Highlander}} about a medieval knight who lived into this century]], [[WhoWantsToLiveForever I don't want that]]... [[IJustWantToBeNormal I just want one, normal life]]...''

* {{Expy}}: Lessee here, beautiful with blonde hair and blue eyes, has a secret connection to the main villain who spends most of the game trolling her or trying to drive her crazy, and has a unique genetic trait that gives her special powers. Are we talking about Aya or [[FinalFantasyVII Cloud Strife?]].

Are we talking about Aya or [[FinalFantasyVII Cloud Strife?]].

* PopCulturedBadass: ''Film/{{Casablanca}}'' and ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheLastCrusade'' in the same sentence, while observing herself in a mirror and contemplating turning into a hundreds of years old knight. While mourning that her car was destroyed by monsters she brings up naming it ''Literature/{{Christine}}'' and, naturally, makes numerous references to ''Series/FinalFantasy.''

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Eve-2 has several shades of this throughout the game. She knows Aya has potential power and would rather convince her to join her side to take over the world. When that doesn't work, Eve-2 attacks the NYPD precinct that Aya works at in order to distract her while Eve-2 runs off to a hospital to get a sperm sample so that she can impregnate herself and create the Ultimate Being. When Aya shows up at said hospital, Eve-2 cuts the cables on the elevator that Aya was in to make her fall to the basement and then cuts the power to trap her there. If you try to take the stairs, Eve-2 destroys them to keep you in the basement. This buys Eve-2 enough time to get the sample and escape.
