* TheLoveSlapOfEpiphany: During one of her ADayInTheLimelight focus episodes, she starts to feel that her BumblingDad doesn't love since he doesn't slap her or even reprimand her even when she's clearly in the wrong.

* TheLoveSlapOfEpiphany: During one of her ADayInTheLimelight focus episodes, she starts to feel that her BumblingDad doesn't love since he doesn't slap her or even reprimand her even when she's clearly in the wrong. This gets edited rather awkwardly out in the 4Kids dub, since the slap is edited out, though she reacts like she was..

* TookALevelInJerkass: During Ojamajo Doremi 16, [[spoiler:Hana had begun showing signs of a rebellious streak. Eventually, she decided to take advantage of the Witch Queen's love for her and get Majo Rika punished for giving her a punishment that she mostly deserved.]] This particular action is subverted in the 3rd volume of Ojamajo Doremi 16, in the sense that it was a tactic for a purpose: [[spoiler:Before all these, Hana got to know some clues about her twin sister living in the human world, but everyone else, including Majo Rika, kept information of her twin sister hidden from her. Since Hana knew that Majo Rika must have been lying but couldn't get more information from Majo Rika anyway, she made this plan in order to make Majo Ruka as her guardian so that she could get these clues much more easily -- specifically, when Majo Ruka got drunk.]] Now, technically this still counts as a DownplayedTrope since Hana is still somewhat at fault by this pointIt's established that it was Hana's own choice to skip grades and enter the Magical School yet she regretted over this decision later. On the other hand, Hana's knowledge of her twin sister preceded her rebellious phase not long. In part due to the vagueness of the word choice and Rashomon-styled accounts, exactly how much Hana is at fault, or if Majo Rika herself has done any unwise things, is ambiguous. However, even if the entire rebellious phase was Hana's tactic, she certainly shouldn't have resorted to doing so. Hana's motive for finding her sister is justified., but then the cheesy writing of the light novels shows when it mostly forgot this deal and started to portray Hana as the usual hyperactive and naïve girl who acts with all her good intentions again, ultimately reverting this trope.

** Downplayed even more in the drama [=CDs=] (which also pretty much confirmed that the sole reason for Hana to pull off this act was due to ), though still, ultimately a few problems remain.

In the beginning, Pop even calls Doremi by her first name, as though she refuses to acknowledge that Doremi is the older sister, but since the # movie, midway through #, she starts calling her "big sis" (onee-chan) instead after they were able to resolve their differences.conflicts.

Added DiffLines:

* TheGadfly: In season 1, especially, Onpu often antagonizes other people with a flippant remark, only to sit back and watch the fallout. In the later seasons, she still makes teasing remarks, but they're less hurtful.

Alternative interpretations might still retain a justified portion of the jerkass level (making this trope half subverted, half zig-zagged), but even that is likely caused by all the age and grade skipping and Hana leaving her companions two times in a row, first Doremi and co., then her companions in the witch kindergarten. Lastly, once Hana showed up in front of the Ojamajos again, she has been portrayed as the "Hana-chan that everyone knows" -- the usual hyperactive and naïve girl who acts with all her good intentions. Granted, the LN series is known for some cheesy writing, For example, If Hana's intention was to gather clues about her twin sister then why did she mention not wanting to leave her witch kindergarten friends in her reasoning and found Majo Rika bothersome for talking endlessly on this subject... and THEN saying she could comprehend Majo Rika's viewpoint? This is where the alternate interpretations mentioned earlier can be based on. Not to mention all the plotholes involving Hana's twin sister. but that's beside the point.]]

** Like Doremi, Onpu's name was music-based. However, she was the DarkMagicalGirl at the time, so being a counterpart to her was to be expected.
** Like Hazuki, Onpu was also smart. However, she was also very cunning and used said smarts to get her way rather than help others (most of the time).
** Like Aiko, Onpu had a lot of common sense and was pretty GenreSavvy herself.

* Expy: Much of her character is based off of Usagi Tsukino, Toei's then-last big magical girl mascot. She's a dorky klutz, a glutton and a poor student with an otherwise magnetic personality, and there's the most obvious design inspiration from Usagi: her Odango bun-head hair style.
