* ScaryLibrarian: The routinely burns books she thinks might be the least bit provocative - right next to the library's circulation desk.
* StrawHypocrite: Even more so than the citizens of Moralton. Orel campaigned to get eggs boycotted, she went along with it because she felt it would help her image, even though she loved eggs to the point of obsession (and also because she figured she could secretly keep the mayor from ever banning them). When Orel succeeded, she was forced to buy them illegally. WordOfGod stated that if the series continued on, she would've been a practitioner of voodoo.

* NotSoAboveItAll: Miss Censordoll, after Orel gets her favorite food (eggs) banned from the town, as far as Censordoll going to the Moralton black market to get her eggs like the rest of the townspeople.
* ScaryLibrarian: She even burned down the fiction section of the library.

Added DiffLines:

** Tragically, Arthur ''was'' an abusive parent himself, which is part of the reason why Clay beats Orel the way he does now. He realizes this to his own horror as an old man, now that it's too late to make amends with the son he's hurt, or stop him from hurting others.

Added DiffLines:

* ComicallyIneptHealing: He's a pretty terrible doctor when it comes down to it. When Oral has a gunshot wound to the foot, his advice is to eat a lot of fatty foods to clog up his arteries, thereby minimizing bleeding. This is played for laughs at first, but not so much when it starts to sink in how having such an inept doctor hurts the town.
-->'''Dr. Potterswheel:''' ''(Looking at a flat-lining Orel)'' It isn't healthy to be dead that long.

Added DiffLines:

* DudeWheresMyRespect: The main reason he gets burned from his job is he has a lot of the responsibility for dealing with such a miserable flock (and Orel, who while well-meaning is a nightmare to manage), but none of the benefits. Due to the superficiality of faith in Moralton, the reverend is simultaneously the most respected and most hated man in town.

* TheBully: A classic archetype for Oral to deal with. Of course, that also gets deconstructed in Season 3.

* EveryoneHasStandards: When Clay tries provoking him into a fight, most notably insulting his dead wife and his malpractice. Potterswheel and the others just blow him off rather than stoop to his level and get in a fight.

* AbusiveParents: Though unlike Clay, she tries to be a good mother. Clay just continually undermines her efforts.

* NeatFreak: She would even freak out when her cleaning supplies got dirty. [[spoiler: After the events of the episode "Nature", we see her kitchen is messy and disheveled.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: While one can't help but sympathize with her situation, she's for the most part as apathetic towards her children as Clay is. To make matters worse, while Clay was always a self-centered narcissist who equated punishment with love, he was initially too meek to be a real threat to anybody until Bloberta enabled him so that she could manipulate him into marrying her. All in all, Bloberta has a better heart than her husband, but both her and Clay are absolutely ''horrible'' parents when it comes to Orel and Shapey.

* NotSoAboveItAll: ParentalNeglect: While one can't help but sympathize with her situation, she's for the most part as not overtly abusive like her husband, she is generally frighteningly apathetic towards her children as Clay is. To make matters worse, while Clay was always a self-centered narcissist who equated punishment children. She lets Shapey play with love, he was initially too meek to be a real threat to anybody until Bloberta enabled him so that she could manipulate him into marrying her. All in all, Bloberta has a better heart than her husband, but both her loaded guns and Clay are absolutely ''horrible'' parents other dangerous objects with no supervision, and when it Orel repeatedly comes home from school with blood all over his shirt in one episode, her only concern is that she'll have to Orel and Shapey.do the laundry more often.
