-->'''Sarafan Lord:''' Your ambition to rule this world is but the youthful craving of a petty noble who has gained too much power, but never enough.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: At the end of ''Defiance'', he isn't really a vampire anymore, as [[spoiler:Moebius' vampire-weakening staff no longer affects him, because the Heart of Darkness that originally gave him his vampirism has been removed]]. However, he retains all of his vampiric abilities and possibly vulnerabilities. Kain is definitely no longer human, but also no longer a vampire; what he ''is'' is as uncertain as the rest of the series since the story was LeftHanging after ''Defiance''.

-->'''Kain:''' There's no shame in it, Raziel - revenge is motivation enough. At least it's ''honest.'' Hate me, but do it ''honestly.''

* WildMassGuessing: An in-universe example -- Raziel suggests the Elder God isn't a true god but just a powerful entity presenting himself as one, and also wonders if it was really the Elder God who revived him, or if it was another force that did it and the Elder God just took credit for it to win Raziel's allegiance. Both theories are entrely possible, and WordOfGod says they would have explored them in future games that never came to light, but in the canon it's unknown what the truth is.[[labelnote]][[WordOfSaintPaul Daniel Cabuco]] has clarified the Elder God is ''not'' a real god, but it is worshipped as one which makes it a god FromACertainPointOfView, and for sure it is the most powerful entity in the setting seen so far. However, he didn't have any comment as to the Elder God's role in Raziel's resurrection beyond using him to harvest souls to feed itself.[[/labelnote]]

** However, [[WordOfSaintPaul Daniel Cabuco]] has given an answer on this. According to him, [[spoiler: the Elder God is ''not'' a true god, it is merely a parasitic CosmicEntity, feeding on soul energy that latched itself onto the cycle of life, death and rebirth/the universe and manipulates the aforementioned three by feeding off the Wheel of Life. ''"...The Elder basically siphons off the lives that should be recycled back into Nosgoth, and plugged himself into Raziel as he was being unmade/remade. So like a sleazy agent, he takes a percentage off the top for every soul Raziel eats. The EG manipulates the wheel by effectively siphoning off of it. Remember that parasites aren't beneficial to their host (that would be a symbiotic relationship, not parasitic) so his taking of souls is not good for Nosgoth at all."'' However, the Elder God is worshiped by several groups who consider it a god, [[FromACertainPointOfView technically making it a god]], and it is the most powerful supernatural being encountered in the series so far.]]
