An OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent who suddenly finds himself getting chased by several factions, all thirsting for his blood. He later realizes that he's appeared in this strange video of him murdering someone while [[EvilGloating evilly proclaiming himself]] as the "Colorless King" (which had been kindly broadcast through the entire city), even though he doesn't remember doing such a thing.

The peacock's defining nature is achieving integrity and beauty when one ''discovers and shows who they really are''. In western culture, the peacock also symbolizes the heavens and stars. The relevance is ridiculously self-explanatory in the context of his true identity.

* FakeMemories: [[spoiler:Revealed in Episode 6 that his memories about his past seem to be entirely fictitious.]] Shiro admits this himself when he says every time he tries to remember something, the details wouldn't match up. * FirstNameBasis: Shiro starts calling Kuroh by his first name by the end of Episode 3, as they seem to have made an alliance.

* GoThroughMe: When he stands in front of Neko as Kuroh is preparing to cut them both down in Episode 4. His simple act of doing so, however, is enough for Kuroh to hesitate and then back down.
* GratuitousGerman: The moment [[spoiler:he recalls his memories as Adolf K. Weissmann]], he starts speaking in German for a while, and then continues to pepper his speech with German words in the following episodes.
* GravityMaster: [[spoiler:He exhibits this power himself, and can momentarily synchronize the biological wavelength of other people with his own, enabling them to access his sanctum's manipulation of gravity as well.]]
* GuileHero: Is able to think quick enough to invent a story about his [[InventedIndividual (non-existent) sick little sister]] on the fly to escape from Kuroh, as well as to set two people who were after his blood, who didn't trust each other, against each other with a careful choice of words. He is also very charismatic and popular, and in Episodes 7 and 8 it is clearly shown just how manipulative he can be with the situation when the need arises, to the extent of even tricking ''Munakata'' twice.
* HairContrastDuo: He's playful, innocent-looking and shrewd in contrast to the serious and uptight Kuroh. No wonder their hair colors contrast.
* HesJustHiding: [[spoiler:In-universe (and likely out- as well). After Shiro lets Mikoto kill him, which obliterates the entire island, Neko and Kuroh find his parasol but not his body. Neko clings to the belief that as a King, he might have been powerful enough to survive the blast. * LineOfSightName: In a few seconds of just glancing around at his environment, Shiro spins out a yarn about having an ill younger sister who he needs to write a letter to, and quickly does it again when he needs to think up a name for her and spots a nearby flier. [[spoiler:In Episode 7, it's revealed that even his name "Yashiro Isana" came from a poster he saw on a wall of the school the very first night he arrived there.]]

* MeaningfulName: The kanji for "Yashiro" itself means a firm or an office, which isn't really meaningful, but his nickname "Shiro" can be written as "white". [[spoiler: The term used for "Silver King" in Japanese, "Hakugin no Ou", also has the character for "white" in it (the "haku" part, while "gin" means "silver"). Weismann also has "white" in it.]]
** The name 'Isana' comes from the Shinto deity Izanagi, who was credited with the creation of many other Shinto deities. [[spoiler: Shiro is the Silver King, whom Munakata referred to as the king of origins due to him being responsible for the birth of other kings.]]
* MistakenForMurderer: A guy who looks exactly like him is seen murdering a member of Homura. Shiro insists it's not him and that he knows nothing about it. * ParasolOfPrettiness: A rare male example. He always goes around with his rather feminine parasol.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: The last Damocles down killed over 700,000 people and had a blast radius reaching 100 km. He has the highest defense and HP of all the Kings which also enables him to have the highest offense. He is the only King who can actually force a Damocles down on their own and walk away from it alive, whereas any other King who attempts to do so, would certainly be killed, as well as hundreds of thousands or possibly a million if population density is high enough. He could in fact act as an immortal suicide bomber if he made the effort to do so.
* PinballProtagonist: Seems to be so at first, but it's soon subverted.
* PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou: He pulls this on Kuroh intentionally in Episode 2, so that the latter may feel bad and stop trying to kill him. It doesn't work. [[spoiler:In Episode 6 he again offers Kuroh the chance to kill him, for real this time, after realizing his entire life is a lie and he no longer knows if he committed the murder or not]].
* PowerFloats: [[spoiler:The Silver Sanctum he can manifest enables him and his clansmen to casually defy gravity.]]

* WineIsClassy: He has a glass of wine in his hand in the flashback in the beginning of episode 12, which goes with his sophisticated attire and surroundings to produce this effect.

Later when he chances on Fushimi reluctantly holding the child, and hearing him voice his thoughts, he shares his opinion on family before taking the baby into his arms; his opinion on family also indicates that he is aware of Fushimi's painful past, and why he is the way he is.

It's part of the reason Misaki wants Saruhiko to move in with him together two years later at fourteen--to get him away from his home situation. Niki continues to haunt him even after that, not long after they join HOMRA.

It is capable of changing its form into a pegasus, but can't actually fly. He reappears in ''Days of Blue'', this time getting hijacked by another Strain.

* TheAssimilator: He has absorbed the identities of many people in the past whose bodies he took over. In the process, however, he lost his own sense of self.
* AxCrazy: He guns down Tatara for no apparent reason after meeting him on the rooftop of a building one night, and later stabs people with shards of glass while grinning madly.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: As soon as Mikoto opens his eyes in his presence, he manages to slip into the Red King's mind and tries to take over from there by consuming the fire that Mikoto's mindscape is filled up with. He also tries to do this to Shiro in Episode 11 but loses the battle of wills and is forced to leave.
* BigBad: Responsible for escalating the conflict between the clans into a war and Shiro's involvement.
* BodySnatcher: His powers let him do this with anyone who meets his eyes and has an emotional weakness he can exploit, starting with Shiro's original body when he was just a normal student at high school. His end goal was to possess the bodies of all of the Kings, starting with the Silver King but moving on to the others when he failed to take over Adolf's mind or soul.
* BodySurf: In Episode 9 he is shown possessing the body of a male student at the school when he phones Mikoto in prison, and even tries to do it to Mikoto as well but fails miserably. Episode 11 reveals he's possessed the bodies of quite a few people so far including Shiro, Adolf K. Weismann, Kukuri and other passersby from both HOMRA and SCEPTER 4.
* CannibalismSuperpower: He can consume the powers of another King if he can successfully take over their body.
* CardCarryingVillain: When he smugly calls Mikoto to tell him he was the one who killed Tatara, and then provokes him further by claiming he'll hurt his other clansmen next.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The video clip where he hums Ode to Joy while jerking his body from side to side, starts laughing and then turns around to shoot Tatara without warning.
* EvilLaugh: Oh yeah. His laughter in Episode 12 in particular gives [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Hollow Ichigo]] a run for his money.

* FightsLikeANormal: Unlike the Red and Blue Kings, the Colorless King's powers are limited to taking over other people's bodies so he has to rely on using guns, bombs, and other weapons for offensive purposes.
* FreakyFridayFlip: His possession of the Silver King's body caused him to switch bodies with the other King the first time he did it instead of merely taking it over due to the way their powers clashed, after which he kicked Shiro (who is now possessed by Adolf K. Weismann) off the airship in an attempt to kill him.

** Was gunning for the Silver King's body to obtain the First King's powers. For that reason he tried to possess the Silver King on the night when he shot Tatara but due to the Silver King taking over Shiro's body in the process when their powers clashed, the Colorless King makes another attempt in Episode 11 when they meet again.
** And then there's Tooru Hieda, the high school student whose body he stole before he murdered Totsuka. Tooru doesn't get his body back for a little over a ''year''.
* TheHeavy: He's the only clear-cut and unsympathetic villain in the show, and his actions have definitely been driving the plot from killing Tatara, to trying to take over Adolf Weismann only to end up exchanging bodies in the process, then creating further conflict between the Red and Blue clans in the final arc of the anime by drawing the Red King to the school.
* HiddenVillain: Since the first arc of the anime made it unclear as to whether or not Shiro was the one who actually committed the crime since he was suffering from amnesia, while Episode 7 and 8 later seem to suggest Adolf K. Weismann might be the true villain all along. However, Episode 9 finally makes it clear that neither of them were responsible (and they are, in fact, the same person); there was another party involved who was using his body-snatching powers to control them at different times.
* HijackingCthulhu: The Colorless King tries to hijack the Silver King, who is effectively immortal. It backfires.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: His third attempt to take over Shiro's body in the last episode is what leads to his downfall after he ends up getting trapped inside the Silver King's soul and then gets taken to meet Mikoto, who greets him by ramming a hand right through his chest and killing him.
* JapanesePronouns: He uses ''ore'' in the video clip, but uses ''oira'' while talking to Mikoto in prison. In the final episode, his multiple identities cause him to use ''boku'' and ''ore-sama'' as well, showing how dissociated he has become by that point.

* MindHive: He's definitely more than one person in a single body, with the implication being that all the other voices are his previous victims.
* MoodSwinger: The amount of minds he's absorbed make it difficult for him to remember his original personality and goals, constantly swaying between moods at random because of it.
* MysteriousWatcher: In the third episode, he appears to be observing Shiro from the airship. While dancing around inside the room, images of Shiro appear on the floor with each new step he takes until he finishes the dance.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: In Episode 11, his attempts to break Shiro's mind and make him run away into nothingness end up making his memories resurface.
* NoEyeInMagic: Eye contact is his modus operandi for body takeover. He even has to provoke Mikoto into opening his eyes before he can steal inside his mind in Episode 9.
