* DespotismJustifiesTheMeans: He's fine with [[spoiler: sacrificing 50 million+ Amestrians]] as long as he achieves his goal of [[spoiler: absorbing God and his power]].

* FlatEarthAtheist: Wrath is pretty critical of the idea of God's existence for someone [[spoiler: in on a plan to literally devour him.]] Though Wrath's words suggest he is more critical religion and turning to God for assistance than the literal idea. And considering "God" in FMA is kind of a [[JerkassGods jerkass]], it's not without merit.

* LackOfEmpathy: In varying degrees depending on the individual--Greed's definitely the least so in this aspect and Pride, Lust, and Father are definitely the most.

* ObliviouslyEvil: Possibly. [[spoiler:In a similar but more sympathetic vein to Shou Tucker, the ending implies that Father truly didn't comprehend that anything he did was wrong, believing that anyone seeking knowledge or perfection would do the same and even begs the Truth to tell him what he should have done differently. Given his status as an EldritchAbomination, he may be telling the truth and may indeed have been operating on BlueAndOrangeMorality]]. However, this may actually be a subversion as [[spoiler:Truth's comment after trapping him in the gate implies that he doesn't buy it and that Father ''did'' know what had done wrong and what he should have done differently, but was too stubborn and proud to admit it]].

* DeathByIrony: [[spoiler:The prideful, remorseless scientist is coldly used as a tool and an alchemic resource by Pride the homunculus, then discarded and forgotten by the plot once he has nothing else of scientific merit to offer.]]

* DeathByIrony:
** [[spoiler:In an early conversation with Hohenheim, his 'parent', Father dismisses the human importance of building a family and wishes that he could survive outside of his flask. His container is broken by Greed, one of his 'children', and Edward, Hohenheim's first true son.]]
** [[spoiler:Father never really separated his greed from himself, given that he needed motivation to absorb the souls of Amestris and eventually Truth. Instead, Greed the Avaricious inherited his selflessness and ability to care for those important to him, which eventually became his undoing when the homunculus sacrificed himself to fatally weaken his container.]]
** [[spoiler:All over the place with the loss of his Stone his reserve of human souls is whittled down with Amestrian war machinery, Amestrian alchemy, and chimera powers (all three of which he'd either used to build the nationwide transmutation circle, provided the founding knowledge for, or both), and Xingese alkahestry (founded by his counterpart, Hohenheim). At the climax, he's bare-handedly beaten around the arena by Edward, and he struggles to comprehend how a 'perfect being' like himself could be at the mercy of human hands.]]
** [[spoiler:Invoked by Truth in Father's final scene. After Father gives a speech to the human sacrifices about Truth's tendency to mete out "despair for the conceited", that's exactly what he receives in a BreakingSpeech from his own Truth. In the end, Father no more than a sentient bit of truth and knowledge himself is dragged back into the Gate, sobbing and pleading with Truth to tell him what he cannot understand and cannot know.]]

* BitchInSheepsClothing: He initially appears as a jovial old man to the Elric brothers and even heals Ed's wounds. This unfortunately, does not last, as he reveals he plans to use them and drops the act to become antagonistic to them for the rest of the series.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Though he drops the facade after his first few appearances.

* TheDreaded: ''No one'' wants to fight against Pride, considering both his abilities and his cruelty. Even Greed considers him to be a monster. Gluttony is utterly horrified when Pride [[spoiler: decides to eat him for his powers and he ultimately ''begs'' for him to stop]]. Also, the only reason Sloth is digging the circular tunnel around Amestris is, because he is too scared of Pride. Hell, let this sink in for a moment; ''Wrath'' is afraid of this guy.
