[[folder:Mayor Mare]]
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mayor_pony_3355.jpg]]

-->'''Debut:''' [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E1MareInTheMoon "Friendship is Magic - Part 1" ("Mare in the Moon")]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/CathyWeseluck

A beige Earth pony with a wavy gray mane and tail, Mayor [[AllThereInTheScript Mare]] is a somewhat ineffectual leader who doesn't seem to carry as much authority as Twilight, the official representative of Princess Celestia in Ponyville.

* AlliterativeName: If you include her title.
* AllThereInTheScript: [[http://theponyartcollection.tumblr.com/post/26391355776 Her and Time Turner's trading card]], a couple of shirts featuring her, {{Gameloft}}'s ''VideoGame/MyLittlePony'' game, and the TieInNovel ''Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell'' have made her FanNickname "Mayor Mare" AscendedFanon. It's also used in the fourth issue of IDW's ''Friendship is Magic'' [[ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW comic book series]], but without showing her.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: Played with, as while Twilight Sparkle tends to have more "weight" than her, both Celestia and Luna recognizes Mayor Mare as an authority figure and treat her with such respect.
* CoolOldLady: [[VagueAge Or at least middle-aged lady]]. She likely wants to be seen as one. Age and gray hair are seen as an Authority/Status symbol for office holders.
* ADogNamedDog: In a land populated largely by ponies, she's a mare named ''Mare''. Kind of fitting, given that the town she's Mayor of is named ''Pony''ville.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Her name has been used by several different sources, but the show itself has only called her by her title, even in the credits.
* {{Expy}}: She looks like a duller and older version of Flitter Flutter in G3.5 and even shares a job with her. [[spoiler:Plus her mane and tail are [[DyeHard naturally]] pink, similar to Flitter Flutter's pink-and-purple.]]
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Played with:
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E7Dragonshy Dragonshy]]", she's nowhere to be seen, and it's Twilight who informs the townsponies about the dragon smoke and Princess Celestia's orders to her to solve the problem.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E11WinterWrapUp Winter Wrap Up]]", the only duty of her office that Mayor Mare exercises is to give an inspirational speech that fails to motivate the town to get their job done on time, but after Twilight shows that she has better organizational skills than the rest of the town, Mayor Mare is seen to work just as hard as everypony else through the night.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E22ABirdInTheHoof A Bird in the Hoof]]", her request to speak with Celestia was enough for the princess to cut the party short.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E26TheBestNightEver The Best Night Ever]]", she went to Canterlot for the Grand Galloping Gala (the beginning of it, at least).
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E3LessonZero Lesson Zero]]", she's seen relaxing outside (until she notices the commotion).
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E4LunaEclipsed Luna Eclipsed]]", she's the one behind Nightmare Night's celebrations.
* PowerHair: Her mane seems to be tied into a tight bun in the back.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Starting in Season 4.
* PunnyName: She's the ''mare'' of Ponyville. A StealthPun in the show, since her name is only AllThereInTheScript.
* RepetitiveName: Her title and name are very similar.
* RulingCouple: Implied during the episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed A Friend in Deed]]" where she's shown next to a stallion of her age with a scroll Cutie Mark that implies an administrative talent. A young mare with a hammer Cutie Mark (implying she's a judge) is with them, hinting she's their daughter.
* StealthPun: Following from her AllThereInTheScript PunnyName, she's the old gray (maned) ''mare''. If she seems ineffective at her job, it's because [[HurricaneOfPuns she ain't what she used to be]].
* VagueAge: Unlike with the Cakes (whom WordofGod has specifically stated to be middle-aged), her exact age is difficult to pin down. Her mane and tail are only [[DyeHard dyed]] gray, and "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed A Friend in Deed]]" shows her with what might be a husband and an adult daughter, though it's possible they may simply be other members of the town council.
** An issue of the official comics show her going to the same high school as Cheerilee, Shining Armor and Cadance. So she might be in the pony equilavent of her twenties.
* YouALLLookFamiliar: Not usually, but when she's shown from overhead in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E14SuitedForSuccess Suited For Success]]", "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E26TheBestNightEver The Best Night Ever]]" and "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed A Friend in Deed]]", multiple copies of her appear at once.
* YoungerThanSheLooks: [[spoiler:Her mane and tail are naturally ''pink'', and she dyes them gray; though she may simply be embarrassed by the color.]]
** [[spoiler:The [[MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW comic book]] seems to suggest she's the same age as ''Cheerilee''!.]]

[[folder:Zecora]]
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zecora_9590.jpg]]

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E9BridleGossip Bridle Gossip]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Brenda Crichlow

A mysterious zebra who lives in the Everfree Forest. Most of the ponies distrust her at first because of her unusual appearance, and [[PoorCommunicationKills her seemingly cryptic warnings don't help her reputation]]. Afterwards, she becomes a helpful ally towards the ponies, using her knowledge of magical herbs and creatures to assist the six.

* AlliterativeName: Zecora the Zebra.
** RepetitiveName: Which also counts for this.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: WordOfGod is that they wanted Zecora to be speaking authentic Swahili in "Bridle Gossip", but they didn't have the time or resources. Instead, they got the voice actor to make up some African-sounding gibberish. Creator/LaurenFaust said that she likes to imagine Zecora is speaking Zebra in lieu of Swahili.
* {{Badass}}: She lives in a place that other ponies consider an EldritchLocation, only in part because it's filled with dangerous plants and animals like cockatrices, Ursa Minors and Majors, Timberwolves and Poison Joke. She isn't bothered in the slightest by her dangerous "neighbours".
* {{Bifauxnen}}: While Zecora is clearly female, she has the same squared off muzzle and lack of eyelashes as a male pony. This helps convey her foreign nationality compared to the ponies of Ponyville.
* BilingualBonus[=/=]ThisIsMyNameOnForeign: "Zecora" means "zebra" in the Oromo language of Ethiopia.
* BlackCloak[=/=]InTheHood: Zecora wears an eerie cloak with a face-concealing hood during her debut episode. It can be inferred she wears it for protection, as the road to her hut crosses through a large patch of Poison Joke.
* CharacterTic: She mostly speaks her sentences in rhyme, with a few exceptions. Her debut episode also gave her a habit of digging at the ground sometimes, but this seems to have faded out.
** ShownTheirWork: Her digging habit in her first episode? Zebras in the real world do that to find water. As for why she dropped it? As shown below, when it comes to other species of horse, digging at the ground is a sign of impatience and annoyance. She'd be forced to drop this habit if she wanted the townspeople to be more open to her.
* CreepyGood: There's no doubt of her good character but her sense of style, where she lives and her habit of speaking in rhyme creeped the local ponies out.
* CrossCulturalKerfuffle: Her above mentioned CharacterTic of digging at the ground is mistaken by the ponies as a threat posture. If one reflects back over the previous episodes, it's strongly implied that pawing at the ground genuinely ''is'' a threat posture amongst ponies (Twilight Sparkle and Nightmare Moon are shown pawing the ground before attacking each other in the second episode). This then leads to FridgeBrilliance as to why the character tic was dropped; upon being able to talk to ponies, Zecora would have learned that pawing the ground means "I am about to attack you" in pony body language, and would stop doing that in order to stop seeming like she's randomly threatening ponies.
* [[CuteWitch Cute]] WitchDoctor: Fits the mold, considering she's adorable and lives in the Everfree Forest far from civilization and has all manner of magical herbs and exotic decor in her hut. She is knowledgeable in potionmaking, strange properties of plants, and odd creatures.
* ADogNamedDog: "Zecora" means "zebra".
* FantasticRacism: A victim of it in her initial episode; the Ponyvile ponies boarded themselves up when she came to town because she was "strange" and "different". Luckily for her, her début episode is about proving this attitude wrong.
* FishEyes: Her molded toy from the Miniature Collection's Spa Pony Set has these.
* [[FriendToAllChildren Friend To All Foals]]: She leads the foals around on Nightmare Night. [[FridgeBrilliance This makes sense when you consider the fact that Apple Bloom, who's a filly, was the first to befriend her]].
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Appears to have glowing sinister yellow eyes sometimes when her face is hidden under her cloak, though that could just be the perception of the mane cast seeing her as an "evil enchantress".
* GoodAllAlong: Looked sinister at first, but it all turned out to be a misunderstanding.
* TheHermit: Lives alone in the Everfree Forest, where few other ponies would dare set hoof.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: At the end of her debut episode, her wish for friends comes true when the ponies finally befriend her. By the episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E4LunaEclipsed Luna Eclipsed]]", it would seem that the town has embraced her, as she leads an event on Nightmare Night.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Apple Bloom, the first pony to make friends with her, is still the pony that has the most screentime with her.
* LargeHam: "Beware, BEWARE, you ponyfolk!"
* [[MagicalNegro Magical Zebra]]: She can brew potions with all manner of fantastic effects, and she also displays a few abilities that seem to indicate that magic isn't necessarily limited to unicorns. However, unlike classical uses of this trope, that doesn't mean she's an automatic problem solver for things the Mane 6 can't handle -- she specifically notes she can't do anything to stop a parasprite infestation, for example.
* MasterOfIllusion: In "Luna Eclipsed", Zecora tells the fillies about Nightmare Moon and uses green dust to conjure up illusions of her.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: Whether she's a herbalist with a talent for illusions and stagecraft or capable of outright spells is unclear. Given [[TheLostWoods where she lives]], the line can be hard to draw.
* MentorArchetype: WordOfGod is that [[WhatCouldHaveBeen she was meant to be an alternate mentor to Twilight Sparkle]] but the de-emphasis of adventure stories in the first season (because slice-of-life stories were easier to write quickly) caused the idea to fall through. She finally takes this role in "Magic Duel" where she trains Twilight in magic and being a GuileHeroine for her rematch with Trixie.
* MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: Though unlike most examples, the townsponies see her every month when she comes into town, but the fact she lives alone in the woods (the Everfree Forest no less) that everypony fears makes everypony unfairly assume she's an evil witch.
* OutOfFocus:
** She is mostly absent from Season 1, appearing only in "Bridle Gossip" and "Swarm of the Century".
** Averted in Season 2, as she's had several small roles in several episodes. In Season 3, she plays a major role in "Magic Duel", finally taking her place as Twilight's mentor.
* PoorCommunicationKills: When it came to the Poison Joke, if she'd just told the ponies it was a poisonous plant instead of speaking in cryptic rhyme to an already suspicious and fearful group, then the rest of the episode would have gone a lot differently. It's possibly justified by the fact that she was new in Ponyville, so she was still learning pony language.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Starting in Season 4.
* RhymesOnADime: Particularly impressive in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E6TheCutiePox The Cutie Pox]]", where she sets herself up to make a rhyme with "tooth" before she sees that Apple Bloom chipped her tooth (From Apple Bloom's posture, it was an easy guess).
** Although there was a gag in the main ''MLP'' comic #9 where she noted (In rhyme, naturally) that she needed a moment to think up a rhyme for her next comment.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Closed captions spell her name as "Zakora".
* StealthHiBye: How she exits at the end of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E6TheCutiePox The Cutie Pox]]".
* TranslationConvention: When alone in her hut, she talks to herself in English, even though her first language appears to be the pseudo-Swahili she yells in when pissed.

[[folder:Cheerilee]]
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Cheerilee_6811.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance (Background):''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]"\\
'''Full Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Call of the Cutie]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NicoleOliver[[note]]according to [[http://madponies.podomatic.com/entry/2011-10-17T14_29_06-07_00 these]] [[http://everfreeradio.com/?p=933 two]] interviews with Creator/NicoleOliver and a reply to [[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2248020657 this]] comment by Creator/LaurenFaust[[/note]]

The Ponyville Schoolhouse's teacher. An Earth pony, Miss Cheerilee sports a cherry-colored coat with a pink/cherry mane topped with a kind and cheerful attitude. While "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Call of the Cutie]]" implies that Cheerilee was a teenager during the pony fashion equivalent of the RealLife [[TheEighties 80s]], Rarity's flashback in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles The Cutie Mark Chronicles]]" (along with a picture that's part of the toy Ponyville Schoolhouse) shows that Cheerilee is young enough to have gone to school with Rarity.

* AdultsAreUseless: Despite her being friendly, she doesn't notice or attempt to stop Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon from bullying the Cutie Mark Crusaders (except in the episode "Ponyville Confidental", when she punishes Diamond Tiara).
* AllThereInTheScript: Until Season 2, her name had only come up at all in the toyline and the ExpandedUniverse (specifically, in the toys and the IOSGames ''[[http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-little-pony-twilight-sparkle/id465213808?mt=8 Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day]]''). It was first mentioned on the show in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E3LessonZero Lesson Zero]]", and she was first addressed by name in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E6TheCutiePox The Cutie Pox]]".
* ArtisticAge: Appears as a filly in Rarity's {{flashback}} during "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles The Cutie Mark Chronicles]]", implying she's about the same age as Rarity. (Cheerilee isn't identified in the episode, but the ''[[http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_US/shop/details.cfm?guid=756C0547-5056-900B-10C1-5412D2955797 Ponyville Schoolhouse]]'' toy has a picture that shows filly Cheerilee wearing the same costume as in the episode, which all but confirms her identity.)
** Her appearance as a filly in Cheese Sandwich's flashback in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E12PinkiePride Pinkie Pride]] also seems to support this. In that flashback, Cheerilee didn't have her cutie mark yet, while Pinkie Pie already had hers. (Again, Cheerilee isn't explicitly named, but the lyrics of the song imply that it's her; she pops into the frame to offer filly Cheese a cheese sandwich right at the line "[[VisualPun Cheer]] was filling up the place.")
* AscendedExtra: Cheerilee was fairly popular in G3, so Hasbro made her the 8th pony of a Happy Meal toy set from McDonalds. She's also included in a later set.
* BreakoutCharacter: Season 2 is slowly turning her into one because of her central role in "Hearts and Hooves Day"
* ChekhovsGunman: After making a few appearances in ''[[http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/games/mlp-adventures-in-ponyville Adventures in Ponyville]]'', she remained a silent background pony who happened to be in the opening. Then at the beginning of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Call of the Cutie]]", she suddenly got a single long scene that gave her an important job and a personality.
* CoolTeacher: The CMC think it is travesty that such an amazing teacher is not beating off suitors with a stick. The first part of Sweetie Bell's song states that she's 'the best teacher we could hope for'.
* DemotedToExtra: In Season 3, the only times she ever shows up are in background appearances in "One Bad Apple", "Sleepless in Ponyville", and "Just for Sidekicks". Her schoolhouse is never shown, and she never even gets a single speaking appearance. What's more, in season 4 she's practically the only notable member of the supporting cast not to receive a PromotionToOpeningTitles; especially odd is that Photo Finish ''does'', [[OneEpisodeWonder despite appearing far less]]. However, [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls she has at least]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E5FlightToTheFinish received speaking appearances again]].
* TheEighties: Played for laughs when Cheerilee shows to her class a picture of her younger self wearing typical (and gaudy) 80s attire.
* [[EightiesHair '80s Mane]]: "Yes I know, but honestly; that's how everypony was wearing their mane back then."
* EmbarrassingNickname: Creates one without intending to ("Blank Flank") which quickly catches on and is used by the school bullies to humiliate Ponies who lack a Cutie Mark.
* EraSpecificPersonality: G3 Cheerilee is Rarity's adviser and is mature. G3.5 Cheerilee loves to play, read stories to her little sister Scootaloo, and comb her friend's manes in fancy different styles. ''[=FiM=]'' Cheerilee is a young adult with a calm and responsible personality and is in charge of educating Ponyville's fillies and colts.
* {{Expy}}: Of G3 and G3.5 Cheerilee.
* FriendToAllChildren: It goes with the territory, considering she's loved by all her students, but even Spike seems to like her ''before'' she gave him a hat for his birthday.
* FriendToBugs: In the toys at least; the ''[[http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_US/shop/details.cfm?guid=BE3CDE98-5056-900B-1034-466D8F32E7AD Cheerilee]]'' toy is accompanied by a ladybug.
* GenkiGirl: As described by Creator/NicoleOliver, she's much more upbeat than her other role of Princess Celestia.
* GenreSavvy: She's quick to realize that she's being set up with Big Mac. Though nopony would have been counting on a love potion.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: She's a good deal smaller than Big [=McIntosh=], which is extremely noticeable when the Cutie Mark Crusaders try to set them up together.
* IWasQuiteAFashionVictim: Could also be considered a [[AffectionateParody self-deprecating call-back]] to the more...[[http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/9th_edition_ponies.html#rockin_beat_ponies ill-advised G1 My Little Ponies]].
* MisplacedKindergartenTeacher: Zigzagged. The exact age of her students are in question because they're a different species. She talks like a kindergarten teacher to them but explains setting concepts (like history and biology) more akin to a middle school teacher, and on the blackboard she often has [[GeniusBonus advanced planetary physics equations]].
* MsExposition: She often fills this role in the episodes she's in, such as explaining what a cutie mark is to a classroom almost full of students who already have theirs.
* NiceGirl: She was nice enough to give Spike a hat on his birthday.
* NiceHat: She doesn't wear one, but has one in her grocery bag (a white fedora with a red band and feather) and gives it to Spike on his birthday.
* OffModel: Quite a few animation errors have happened with her, the most common one being the top of her normally two-toned mane becoming solid-colored.
* OldMaid: She tries to hide her frustration, but it's clear she isn't happy about being one, or at least having attention being brought to it.
* PairTheSpares: A literal case, as the CMC pairs her up with Big [=McIntosh=] in the episode "Hearts and Hooves Day" because she didn't have a date and Big [=McIntosh=] was the only "good" stallion they could find available at that moment.
** ShipTease: After the madness dies down, the last scene of the episode is Cheerilee and Big [=McIntosh=] going on a picnic. Whether they're going on an actual date or just teasing the Cutie Mark Crusaders is left open.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Her body and hair qualify for this.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Most of the time she can be counted on to manage her class.
* [[RoseHairedSweetie Rose-Maned Pony]]: Warm and compassionate type.
* {{Schoolmarm}}: A textbook example of this; the only teacher in a rural community school that consists of one room.
* StepfordSmiler: She displays a type A during "Hearts and Hooves Day" when the CMC bring up her Old Maid status.
** Her human counterpart displays a borderline type C, given how she actively tries to hide her irritation from a technologically inept Twilight.
* [[WhatDidIDoLastNight What the Tartarus Am I Doing in a Pit, on a Mattress, with a Stallion?]]: Sleeping off a love poison from well-meaning students.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Her [[http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulnomad/8459433199/in/set-72157632732632786/ second fully-molded toy]] depicts her as a PaletteSwap of Pinkie Pie; her cutie mark looks different in most stock art and all of the other toys (strangely, the stock art used on most of the toys' packaging has it match the show instead of those toys); her [[http://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/Name/cheerileeFIMmini.html first fully-molded toy]] and her [[http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:BBCheerileeCard.jpg collector]] [[http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:BBCheerileeBack.jpg card]] both depict her as a PaletteSwap of Applejack.

[[folder:Mr. & Mrs. Cake]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Mr_and_Mrs_Cake_6056.jpg]]

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E4ApplebuckSeason Applebuck Season]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/BrianDrummond (Mr. Carrot Cake)[[note]]according to [[https://twitter.com/BrianDrummondVO/status/294142753875578880 this]] tweet by Creator/BrianDrummond[[/note]] and Creator/TabithaStGermain (Mrs. Cup Cake)[[note]]according to [[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2248020657 this]] comment by Creator/LaurenFaust and [[http://imgur.com/egRde this]] email from RED Management[[/note]]

Mr. Carrot Cake and Mrs. Cup Cake are a middle-aged Earth Pony couple. They own Sugarcube Corner, the bakery where Pinkie Pie works, holds her parties, and resides as their live-in helper. Kind and friendly, this older couple has shown saintlike patience for Pinkie Pie's antics... especially after the poisonous muffins fiasco (though that wasn't her fault) and Pinkie's appetite at the beginning of "Swarm of the Century". So far, they're one of the few married couples seen in Ponyville. As of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]", they're now parents to baby twins Pound and Pumpkin Cake.

* AdaptationNameChange: The toyline refers to Mrs. Cup Cake as Mrs. Dazzle Cake.
* AlliterativeName: Both of them!
* AllThereInTheScript: Until Season 2, their first names had only been [[http://comments.deviantart.com/5/37155514/1804064447 revealed]] by WordOfGod and used by the [[http://www.nick.de/shows/1008-my-little-pony-freundschaft-ist-magie German]] and [[http://www.nick.ch/shows/1008-my-little-pony-freundschaft-ist-magie Swiss]] Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} and [[http://www.nickjr.de/shows/1008-my-little-pony-freundschaft-ist-magie German]] NickJr websites. They were first referred to by their full names on the show in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]".
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Mrs. Cake's mane looks like pink frosting.
* BenevolentBoss: To Pinkie Pie. They let her use the highest floors of Sugarcube Corner as her home, and [[LikeASonToMe think of her as a daughter]].
* FamilyBusiness: The two of them run Sugarcube Corner together.
* FatAndSkinny / ChubbyMamaSkinnyPapa: Cup Cake is the former, and Carrot Cake is the latter.
* GingerbreadHouse: The bakery roof is ''literally'' shaped like a gingerbread house with two cupcakes and a slab of rock candy on top.
* HappilyMarried: They've never once been seen fighting. When the Foal Free Press said they were splitting up, they were as shocked as everypony else.
* [[LikeASonToMe Like A Daughter To Us]]: Pinkie may not ''be'' their biological daughter, [[WordOfGod but they still love her like she is]].
* MaltShop: For Ponyville's standards, their place acts like this for kids and couples.
* MasculineLinesFeminineCurves: Mr. Cake is very angular, particularly in his jaw, and Mrs. Cake is quite plump.
* NiceHat: Mr. Cake is just about always seen wearing his short cylindrical hat.
* PanickyExpectantFather: Normally, Mr. Cake keeps an impeccable aspect, but when his twins are finally born he looks as if he were returning from war with his messy hair, untied bowtie, and unshaven beard.
* ParentalSubstitute: They serve as this for Pinkie Pie. She lives with them in Sugar Cube Corner and Lauren Faust said they see her as a daughter. Furthering the connection, she is a CoolBigSis and the go-to foalsitter for their blood children.
* PermaStubble: Mr. Cake gets an ''awesome'' version of this while he's waiting for the birth of his twins.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Starting in Season 4.
* SupremeChef: The cartoon presented them as this very early on, but their Marzipan Mascarpone Meringue Madness ([[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin MMMM]] for short) definitely cemented them as Supreme Chefs. Just hearing Pinkie Pie describe it created an uncontrollable urge in nearby ponies to eat it.
* UntoUsASonAndDaughterAreBorn: Pound and Pumpkin Cake, respectively.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pound and Pumpkin Cake]]
[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pound_and_pumpkin_cake_by_MasterRottweiler_5114.png]]

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TabithaStGermain (Pound) and Creator/AndreaLibman (Pumpkin)[[note]]both according to [[https://twitter.com/AndreaLibman/status/158608461507215362 these]] [[https://twitter.com/AndreaLibman/status/162973658627833857 two]] tweets by Creator/AndreaLibman[[/note]]

Mr. and Mrs. Cake's twin babies. Pound is a Pegasus colt and Pumpkin is a Unicorn filly, explained by Mr. and Mrs. Cake having Unicorn and Pegasus ancestors respectively. Pinkie adores them as new playmates.

* BabiesMakeEverythingBetter: {{Subverted|Trope}}; the twins are cute and all, but, as Pinkie found out the hard way, they require a ''lot'' of responsibility. Particularly when the [[SuperStrength Pegasus]] and [[WildMagic Unicorn]] genes kick in.
* BrainyBaby: Both babies are incredibly intelligent for their age.
* BrotherSisterTeam: Even at the age of one month, they're inseparable.
* ChildProdigy: Rainbow Dash guesses (correctly) that Pound will be "all over the place" once he starts using his wings, and Rarity says that baby unicorns get strange magic surges that come and go. Those comments imply that the babies' are getting a temporary boost but only future appearances will tell for sure. It's also suggested for Pound Cake is that the only reasons he flies so well so young is a combination of his SuperStrength and the fact that he still has a body small enough for his wings to carry. Scootaloo and filly!Fluttershy have/had the inverse -- that is, wings too small to carry their bodies.
* ColorCodedWizardry: Pumpkin's magic aura is light blue, just like her eyes.
* {{Exp|y}}ies: For [[WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones Pebbles Flintstone (Pumpkin) and Bam-Bam Rubble (Pound)]]. Pumpkin even has Pebbles' hairdo (with a bow instead of a bone). The blue bow looks similar to [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Maggie Simpson's]].
* HollywoodGenetics: Mr. Cake's great-great-great-great-grandfather was a Unicorn and Mrs Cake's aunt's-second-cousin-twice-removed was a Pegasus; "that makes sense right?" Creator/LaurenFaust confirmed similar scenarios were possible during Season 1.
* {{Innocent Prodig|y}}ies: They don't ''mean'' to cause Pinkie Pie such grief but are too busy exploring their abilities to notice until the end, where they douse themselves in flour to make up for it.
* {{Leitmotif}}: They sort of have one, but it's more of an indicator to show the audience that they're about to get into trouble.
* MeaningfulName: Pound Cake. Guess what he likes to do?
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: They have a mild version of this when their antics reduce Pinkie Pie to tears.
* OralFixation: Pumpkin is constantly trying to chew on anything she can get her hooves on.
* ParentalBonus: Mr. Cake's not-entirely-convinced plea: "That makes sense, right?"
** GeniusBonus: Made doubly funny if you notice that Mrs. Cake's "aunt's-second-cousin-twice-removed" is only related to Pound Cake by marriage, not by blood.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Pound is strong enough to lift and carry an adult pony at high speeds in flight.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: They're magical, baby ponies. How much more ridiculously cute can you get?
* SayMyName:
-->'''Pound:''' Pinkie...
-->'''Pumpkin:''' Pie...
* SilentSnarker: They are snarky [[CuteButCacophonic when they're silent]].
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Pumpkin is colored exactly like her father.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: According to Mr. Cake, a pony of one type can have offspring of another type, depending on the family tree.
* WallCrawl: Pound can achieve this using his flight.
* WildMagic: Pumpkin has impressive magic for being only one month old, levitating herself and passing through solid objects.

[[folder:Snips & Snails]]
[[quoteright:242:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/snipssnails_6318.jpg]]

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' LeeTockar (Snips) and Creator/RichardIanCox (Snails)

Two Unicorn colts with a penchant for making trouble.

* AdaptationNameChange: The toyline refers to Snips and Snails as Snipsy Snap and Snailsquirm. Presumably, either Snips and Snails are respectively short for Snipsy Snap and Snailsquirm or Snipsy Snap and Snailsquirm are respective [[InSeriesNickname In-Series Nicknames]] for Snips and Snails; neither explanation is official.
%%* {{Adorkable}}: Both of them, Snails especially.
* AlliterativeName: [[AdaptationNameChange Snipsy Snap]].
* [[AttentionWhore Attention Horses]]: They ENJOY the humiliating Gabby Gums article the CMC wrote about them, and repeat their chewing gum accident for an audience.
%% * {{Beady Eyed Loser}}s
* BigEater: Snails can chomp half of a cake with a single bite. [[http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_CA/play/details.cfm?guid=E300C93D-5056-900B-1050-A310A192B6BD Applejack's game]] from ''[[http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/games/mlp-adventures-in-ponyville Adventures in Ponyville]]'' also shows them sneaking onto Applejack's farm and eating everything in sight if the player doesn't chase them away.
* BigOlEyebrows: Snips sports a pair of these to ad to his gangly appearance.
* BodyHorror: The first thing Trixie does upon seeing them when she returns is to forcibly merge them, [[VideoGame/EarthwormJim Professor Monkey-For-A-Head]] style.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Snails plays boke to Snips's tsukkomi, first with the AreYouPonderingWhatImPondering moment and then again during their magic show in "Show Stoppers".
* ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes: In "Boast Busters" this is how they find an Ursa Minor.
* CanadaEh: Snails sounds like he comes from the Great White North, eh?
* {{Class Clown}}s: And funny ones too. This is why they don't mind making fools of themselves.
%%* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Snails, often annoying Snips.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Downplayed on the "badass" part, but this still applies because the two aren't very bright.
** "Boast Busters" Snails is one of the few unicorn foals who's been shown using magic (albeit with difficulty) and can buck Snips pretty far in Ponyville Confidential. They can also run quickly and don't slow down when Spike gets dragged along, adding weight. They also both go into the Everfree Forest at night. Given how ''the mane six'' are shown to be scared of that place, day ''or'' night, that's pretty brave. In their case, it's closer to TooDumbToLive considering what happened next.
** In "Magic Duel" they're shown to be strong enough to pull a ''wheel-less cart'' with Trixie on it. It took them a lot of effort, but they still got her where she needed to go (and were being threatened [[WhipItGood with a whip]] at the time).
** Their alternates in the human world likewise prove to be a troublesome bit of a hindrance, though still just a goofy as their pony counterparts.
* TheDitz: Snails is inarguably the least intelligent character on the show [[GeniusDitz but strangely enough, he's the only Unicorn in his class shown using magic, even for a basic spell]].
* {{Dogged Nice Guy}}s: To Trixie, for whom they are consistent fans despite her haughty behavior.
* EarlyBirdCameo: First appeared in [[http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_CA/play/details.cfm?guid=E300C93D-5056-900B-1050-A310A192B6BD Applejack's game]] from ''[[http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/games/mlp-adventures-in-ponyville Adventures in Ponyville]]'', thus earning a bad reputation among players for their thieving ways.
* {{Expy}}: Snails looks like a taller male version of G1's Squirmy.
* {{Fan Boy}}s: They're Trixie's biggest fans in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]", and they're shown to be members of the Rainbow Dash Fan Club in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E8TheMysteriousMareDoWell The Mysterious Mare Do Well]]". [[WildMassGuessing If you look carefully, they are the only members of Rainbow Dash's fan club to have t-shirts with Rainbow Dash's picture in a heart. Combined with their possible crush on Trixie, they might have a thing for blue mares]].
* FatAndSkinny: Snips is short and round while Snails is tall and slender.
* [[FearlessFool Fearless Foals]]: They went into the ''Everfree Forest at night'' to try to find an Ursa Major to help Trixie look good for Ponyville.
* [[FreeRangeChildren Free Range Colts]]: They both go all alone in the middle of night into the ''[[EldritchLocation Everfree Forest]]''.
* GagHaircut: When the duo get their rumps stuck together with bubble gum, the haircut they get to cut the gum out leaves them with bald patches on their butts and tails.
* {{The Klutz}}es: The famous gum chewing incident had them stuck together.
* LightIsGood: Snails can use light magic, and him and Snips are overall pretty good (if really stupid) guys.
* MeaningfulName:
** "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails -- that's what little boys are made of." This could also be a reference to ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'', considering the fact that those are some of the ingredients for [[EvilCounterpart The Rowdyruff Boys]], and Creator/LaurenFaust worked alongside her husband Creator/CraigMcCracken on that show.
** The comic likewise shows that Snips is good at cutting with his buck teeth (which also explains the cutie mark).
* PrecociousCrush: The [[http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_CA/play/details.cfm?guid=E300C93D-5056-900B-1050-A310A192B6BD standalone version]] of [[ExpandedUniverse Applejack's game]] from ''[[http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/games/mlp-adventures-in-ponyville Adventures in Ponyville]]'' has hearts appear over them when the player runs towards them to chase them away. The hearts are most likely just a replacement for ''[[http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/games/mlp-adventures-in-ponyville Adventures in Ponyville]]'''s Friendship Sparkles but still...
** Also, while they haven't been canonically confirmed to have a crush on Trixie, there's [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation room for interpreting them as such]], given the extent of admiration they have for her, their knee-jerk responses to any insinuation that she'd lie, and their semi-stalkerish ways...
** {{Stalker With| A Crush}}/[[StalkerWithoutACrush Without A Crush]]: ... such as wanting to talk to her after the show, even when she makes clear she'd rather be left alone, etc...
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Starting in Season 4.
* ShadowArchetype: To Spike, considering they are all young kids who are fond of older mares (Rarity for Spike, Trixie for Snips and Snails), and also have their bouts of clumsiness at times, but unlike Spike who is usually more helpful than not, Snips and Snails inadvertently cause more trouble than they fix in the long run.
%% * SimpletonVoice
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: In Equestria Girls they appear as Sunset Shimmer's henchmen.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They're never apart, have little bearing on the plot, and mostly exist for comic relief.
* TooDumbToLive: Going by themselves into the lair of an Ursa Minor; they're lucky Twilight calmed it down. If one is feeling more charitably inclined, ChildrenAreInnocent.
* VagueAge: They're seemingly older than the CMC. While they're still in school, they aren't in the same class as the Crusaders, they know some magic, and seem to have entered puberty.
%%* YouthfulFreckles: Snails.

Like Apple Bloom, [[AllThereInTheScript Peppermint]] Twist starts "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Call of the Cutie]]" without having discovered her mark and gets teased for it. She gets her cutie mark in the same episode (off-screen): a pair of candy canes due to her love of making candy.

* AdaptationNameChange: The toyline refers to her as Twist-a-loo. Presumably, either Twist is short for Twist-a-loo (which would make her full name Peppermint Twist-a-loo) or Twist-a-loo is an InSeriesNickname for Twist; neither explanation is official.
* {{Adorkable}}: The glasses, niceness, the lisp, the SweetTooth.....
* AllThereInTheScript: Peppermint, the first part of her name, has only been used by {{Gameloft}}'s ''VideoGame/MyLittlePony'' game (which doesn't even use it all of the time).
* CheerfulChild: "I've got thome peppermint thticks. I made them myself! They'll make you ''thmiiile!''"
* {{Expy}}: Of G1 Twist.
** Her appearance has a noticeable resemblance to WesternAnimation/PepperAnn.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: When Twist gets her Cutie Mark, she brags about it to Apple Bloom, unaware that Apple Bloom got devastated and hurt because she felt that she was the only filly who doesn't have one.
%% * {{Meganekko}}:
* PairTheSpares[=/=]PuppyLove: Surprisingly, the episode "Hearts and Hooves Day" paired her up with "[[FanNickname Truffle Shuffle]]", much to the chagrin of "[[FanNickname Tootsie Flute]]", who was also interested in him.
%%* QuirkyCurls
* RedheadsAreUncool: She shows several stereotypically nerdy traits, such as a curly red mane and tail, pale coat, large, large glasses, and a nasal speech impediment (she has a hard time pronouncing W's and S's). She is the last one in her class to get her cutie mark before the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
* SweetTooth: "Ith it a powdered donut? Becauth that thounds delithouth!"
* [[SpeechImpediment Thpeech Impediment]] For context, see her quote in SweetTooth.
* SupremeChef: Her special talent is making candy.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: It's uncertain if she loves eating peppermint sticks... ahem; "Peppermint Thtickth" as much as she loves making them.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: She appeared to be a good friend of Apple Bloom's in "Call of the Cutie", but ever since Apple Bloom hooked up with the Cutie Mark Crusaders, poor Twist has only talked to her once since then. This may be due to voice actor Alexandra Carter's move to Philadelphia rendering her unable to voice the character further.

Canterlot's defenders who serve under Shining Armor. These armored stallions show up wherever Canterlot needs extra security and also serve as the Princesses' personal bodyguards. Pegasus guards are usually seen escorting the princesses or as royal flying carriage pullers. Unicorn guards are generally seen around Canterlot and performing some ceremonial procedures. Earth pony guards are hardly ever seen; only a few have appeared.

For your pleasure, there now also is a fictional ForcesWithFirepower page for the [[JustForFun/PoniesWithPikes Royal Guard]].

* AudibleSharpness: Their wings. The second season gives us evidence that [[RazorWings Pegasus wings can be that sharp]].
* BadassBaritone: In the rare occasions they speak, it's usually a deep voice of authority.
* BladeOnAStick: The only weapon they've been seen wielding, so far.
* BritishRoyalGuards: The show has its own version of the trope; The Princess Royal Guards of Equestria are as disciplined and stoic as the British Royal Guards. Rainbow Dash annoys them, making small talk and funny faces; the guards don't react to her at all. They only moved a muscle when Fluttershy tries to enter the building they were guarding and when Rainbow Dash convinces Philomena to tickle their noses.
* ColorCodedWizardry: Yellow-green, light blue, or bright yellow for "normal" unicorn guards, silver gray for the Canterlot Archives unicorn guards.

* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: Whenever they are seen guarding something (be it pets, archives, the city of Canterlot, the Crystal Empire palace, ''the Princesses'', etc), one can count on them failing spectacularly at it.
* MilitariesAreUseless: Along with the examples under both TheGuardsMustBeCrazy and RedshirtArmy, it's shown in the Season 4 opener that they're completely helpless order-wise without a Princess to point out their tasks. ''They don't even have their own command''.
* PraetorianGuard: They serve as the Princesses' personal bodyguards.

** Again in "The Canterlot Wedding" [[spoiler: where they are quickly slimed into submission by the Changeling Army.]]
** And ''again'', in the Season 4 finale, where [[spoiler:Discord]] even finds the time to tease them beforehand.
* SeriousBusiness: You will almost always see them wearing a serious face whenever they appear. Ceremonial duty is very important you know.

[[folder:The Wonderbolts]]
[[quoteright:136:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Wonderbolt_Poster_by_Stinkehund_8667.png]]

-->'''First Mention:''' [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E1MareInTheMoon "Friendship is Magic - Part 1" ("Mare in the Moon")]]\\
'''Full Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E3TheTicketMaster The Ticket Master]]"

The most talented flyers in all of Equestria and Rainbow Dash's idols. The Wonderbolts perform at the Grand Galloping Gala every year and also served as celebrity judges for the Best Young Flyer Competition in Cloudsdale. The organization itself was founded one year after Princess Luna's banishment to the moon. As a result, they have quite a long and storied history.

[[AllThereInTheManual According to the official guidebook]] the team has at least twelve members: Blaze, Fire Streak, Fleetfoot, High Winds, Lightning Streak, Misty Fly, Rapidfire, Silver Lining, Soarin, Spitfire, Surprise and Wave Chill. Only eleven have thus far been seen, though.

!!Tropes which apply to the entire group

* AdaptationNameChange: One of TheHub's alternate stories of how Rainbow Dash got her cutie mark refers to them as the Blue Thunders.
* BadassInDistress:
** Very briefly in "Sonic Rainboom" when Rarity punches them during their attempt to save her from falling to death.
** Again in "Secret to My Excess", though the situation is somewhat less dire.
* BigDamnHeroes: In addition to being performers, they're Equestria's rescue team as seen in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E16SonicRainboom Sonic Rainboom]]" and "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E10SecretOfMyExcess Secret of My Excess]]". Too bad they fail in both situations.
* CoolShades: Their uniforms at the Wonderbolt Academy come with these.
* GlassCannon: They are incredibly fast and agile, and at full speed their wings can cut through dragon scales like knife through butter, but a single hit from Rarity was enough to send three of them plummeting to their (almost) death. Makes sense since [[FridgeBrilliance horses kick a lot harder than humans can]] and [[GirlyBruiser Rarity]] [[IKnowKarate Knows Kung Fu]].
* LatexSpaceSuit: What their blue uniforms appear to be.
* [[MulticoloredHair Multicolored Mane]]: Three of them have this.
* MildlyMilitary: More like ambiguously military -- it's somewhat implied they're part of Equestria's military force, but never how. The group is clearly inspired by the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Angels Blue Angels]], and one needs to undergoing extensive training to join them. "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E22TestingTesting123 Testing, Testing, 123]]" reveals that the Wonderbolts were originally formed from members of the EUP Guard, an organization formed after Luna's banishment to protect Celestia, and their past leaders bore military ranks. However, Spitfire doesn't seem to hold such a rank in the present, and they were originally a performance group, rather than a force intended for combat. Whether they've stayed even loosely affiliated in the thousand years since then is unknown.
** That episode also revealed that entering the Wonderbolts Reserves does '''not''' require entering the [=EUP=], Equestria's military. A civilian organization that has some military personnel and ties, like UsefulNotes/{{NASA}}, seems to be the closest real world situation.
* [[NiceGuy Nice Ponies]]: They are superfamous celebrities, but they keep a humble attitude and are openly friendly towards their fans; in fact, they were the '''only''' nice ponies around during the Grand Galloping Gala. Besides Rarity, they were the only guests who didn't think themselves were too good for Applejack's apple treats.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: The Wonderbolts are [[https://twitter.com/goldenrusset/status/147573636369354752 likely]] based on the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Angels US Navy Blue Angels]], resembling them in colour scheme, profession and flying style, while their name recalls the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force_Thunderbirds Thunderbirds]].
* NoNameGiven: All of them except Soarin, Spitfire, Fleetfoot, Rapidfire, [[AllThereInTheScript Misty Fly]] and [[AllThereInTheScript Surprise]].
* OCStandIn: It's starting to become a trend on Website/{{Tumblr}} to start blogs for the [[NoNameGiven unnamed]] Wonderbolts. They're on the same level as most background ponies perhaps even lower since they show up less than, say, Derpy or Lyra. Even their cutie marks are a mystery, but they still receive {{Fanon}}.
* OpaqueLenses: Their goggles.
* RazorWings: Probably a by-product of natural Pegasi abilities; sharp enough to shave a dragon if they feel like it.
* RunningGag: In most episodes where the Wonderbolts have an important role, there had been somepony falling and needing to be saved; in all these cases, Rainbow Dash had been the rescuer, or part of the rescuers if this is done by more than one pegasus.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Whether their name is two words or one. ** Six Wonderbolts performed an acrobatic stunt before the start of the Best Young Flyer Competition. Three of them sat in the stands and were the only ones who tried to rescue Rarity later in the episode. The other three flew off the top of the screen and weren't seen again.
** Again in the Season 1 finale "Best Night Ever", we don't see what happens to Spitfire and Soarin after Rainbow Dash catches the statue. There's also all the other Wonderbolts who Rainbow Dash might've had better luck hanging out with, though her focusing on Spitfire and Soarin makes sense in hindsight now that we know Spitfire is the captain and Soarin may be second in command.
* TheWorfEffect: For such an elite group, they have an abysmal track record of doing anything useful in dangerous situations.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Blue Mane]]: Soarin and a few others. Additionally a poster seen in "Friendship is Magic - Part 1" shows a stylized depiction of three blue-haired Wonderbolts.

A yellow {{Pegasus}} mare with a fiery looking mane, Spitfire has a laid back and easy going personality in contrast to her appearance. "Hurricane Fluttershy" revealed that she is the leader of the Wonderbolts (as many fans had assumed beforehand). She's getting a partly-translucent [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5gHDdPXnuFI/UCGjj6-abiI/AAAAAAAAzJg/vzpCI0FQNj4/s1600/3.jpg toy]] in Blind Bag Wave 7.

* BrokenPedestal: Briefly becomes one for Rainbow Dash in "Wonderbolts Academy" when she seemingly rewards Lightning Dust for her recklessness by naming her TheLeader. [[RebuiltPedestal It doesn't last long]], as Spitfire chases after her to give the response that Rainbow Dash didn't stick around for.
* TheCameo: At the end of "Twilight's Kingdom Part 2", along with the rest of the ponies who gave the Mane Six their keys.
* TheCaptain: Of the Wonderbolts, as revealed in "Hurricane Fluttershy".
%%* CurtainsMatchTheWindow
* DesignStudentsOrgasm: Her cutie mark is [[http://derpiboo.ru/183403 unusually complex]] compared to those of other characters.
* DrillSergeantNasty: At the Wonderbolt Academy, where she likes to intimidate new recruits.
* FieryRedhead: Generally {{averted|Trope}}, [[DrillSergeantNasty except when training cadets]].
* [[FlamingHair Flaming Mane]]: Spitfire's mane and tail resemble blazing flames.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold[=/=]MsViceGirl: She is generally a nice pony (at least when she's not training potential recruits) but her view of how one should be the best causes her to act questionably at times, such as initially rewarding the sociopathic Lightning Dust for her performances despite her treating her fellow cadets like fodder to do so, and outright lying about Soarin's condition to try to get Rainbow Dash to join her team. She is, however, also willing to listen to reason, and if somepony (mainly Rainbow Dash) is quick to point out if she's crossing the line, then she's quick to see the error of her ways.
* MeaningfulName: She is named after the WW2-era [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermarine_Spitfire Supermarine Spitfire]] Fighter Plane (perhaps the most iconic plane of the whole war).
* NotSoDifferent: To Rainbow Dash, as it turns out. She's a good pony but can occasionally hold the JerkassBall firmly with both forehooves; comparable to the RD of the first season, who would resort to cheating to win a race or [[NoSympathy harshly chew her friends out for their phobias]]. The present-day Rainbow Dash, who's since [[TookALevelInKindness softened up]], is usually the one to call Spitfire out and get her to drop her less than savory characteristics.
* {{Pride}}: Her biggest vice.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In "Wonderbolt Academy", Rainbow Dash can't argue with her logic in making Lightning Dust the leader and her the wingpony ("You'll be an unstoppable team"), but when Lightning Dust reveals her disregard for the safety of others, she demotes Dust and puts the more levelheaded Dash in her place.
* RedOniBlueOni: Despite her appearance, she's the levelheaded Blue to Soarin's compulsive Red.
* SameCharacterButDifferent: In her appearances during the first two seasons, she appears fairly laid-back and friendly, especially towards Rainbow Dash ([[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E16SonicRainboom who saved her life when they first met in person]]). In Season 3 she's a [[FieryRedhead tough-as-nails]]--[[ReasonableAuthorityFigure though still reasonable]]--[[DrillSergeantNasty drill instructor who throws insults at new Wonderbolt cadets, Dash being no exception]]. {{Justified|Trope}} since they ''are'' at a boot camp whereas she was more or less off duty in earlier appearances, so it could just be a front she puts up on the job, and Spitfire has no reason to go soft on her savior.
* [[ShesAManInJapan She's a Stallion in Poland]]: Possibly in the Polish dub. She has a male voice in both "Sonic Rainboom" and "The Best Night Ever", but it might just be an extreme case of CrossDressingVoices. In "Hurricane Fluttershy", she is voiced by a woman.
* VocalEvolution: After Kelly Metzger takes up the role, her voice goes from relatively mid-pitched in "The Best Night Ever" to higher pitched and raspy in "Wonderbolts Academy".
* YouDontLookLikeYou: [[http://theponyartcollection.tumblr.com/post/26391528291 Her and Soarin's trading card]] lists her cutie mark as the lightning bolt symbol shown on the female Wonderbolts' flight suits (like how Soarin's cutie mark is the winged lightning bolt symbol shown on the male Wonderbolts' flight suits), but "Wonderbolts Academy" reveals that it's a phoenix-like bunch of flames.

This lovable blue Pegasus stallion despite his goofy personality is one of the best fliers in Equestria. He ''really'' loves pies. He makes a small cameo in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E26ACanterlotWeddingPart2 A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2]]", dancing with Rainbow Dash and out of his flight suit to boot, instead wearing a uniform that implies he's second in command. He's getting a partly-translucent [[http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XNB_kWOokEA/UCGjjpOnDLI/AAAAAAAAzJY/tk6KcWSgtyA/s1600/2.jpg toy]] in Blind Bag Wave 7.

* {{Adorkable}}: Seems to have this personality, especially in regards to pies.
* AllThereInTheManual: [[http://theponyartcollection.tumblr.com/post/26391528291 His and Spitfire's trading card]] confirms that pie is his TrademarkFavoriteFood.
* ArtEvolution: A minor bit, but his cutie mark was first shown to just be the same as what's on his Wonderbolts uniform. A later appearance in "Rainbow Falls" updated it to resemble a lightning bolt striking some clouds.
* BigEater: According to his teammate Spitfire, he always gets hungry after a performance. When he finds Applejack's food cart, he goes absolutely nuts for one of her apple pies. This has lead to {{Shipping}} between the two.
* BigNo: "MYYYYYYYYYYY PIIIIIIEEEEEE!"
* CrazyConsumption: Soarin ''literally'' eats like a horse.
%%* GreenEyes
* DistractedByTheSexy: Gets into an accident in "Rainbow Falls" due to being distracted by cheerleaders
* {{Keet}}: See {{Adorkable}}. He's extremely friendly and really likes pies.
* NiceGuy: Of the Wonderbolts who've been characterized in the series, he's consistently nice and friendly. Meanwhile, Spitfire, while most times a friendly enough mare and a ReasonableAuthorityFigure, isn't above [[MsViceGirl letting the idea and drives of being the best overtake her]], making her not that different compared to Rainbow Dash in the first season pre-CharacterDevelopment, and Fleetfoot is just plain smug.
* RedOniBlueOni: Despite their mane colors, this is {{inverted|Trope}} as Soarin is the Red Oni to Spitfire's Blue Oni.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name was originally spelled "Soarin'" with an apostrophe, and this spelling has been used by Enterplay's trading card set and Mighty Fine's apparel, but Hasbro's Blind Bags and {{Gameloft}}'s ''VideoGame/MyLittlePony'' game have since spelled it "Soarin" without the apostrophe.
* SweetTooth: Soarin has a big one for Applejack's pie, considering how fast he eats it at the Grand Galloping Gala.
* [[TheFriendNobodyLikes The Teammate Nobody Likes]]: When he gets injured, his teammates not only don't visit him in the hospital, but try to replace him even after he gets better. Ouch.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pie.
* {{Tuckerization}}: He was named after Amy Keating Rogers' son Soren. Rogers was the writer for "The Best Night Ever", which featured the Wonderbolts.
* VocalDissonance: He sounds younger than the bags under his eyes imply he is.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: His toy uses the same mold as the female Wonderbolts' toys, only being indicated as male by sporting the male Wonderbolts' winged lightning bolt symbol rather than the female Wonderbolts' plain lightning bolt symbol.

A blue pegasus with a mostly white mane with a streak of light blue in it, [[AllThereInTheManual green eyes, and a cutie mark of a winged horseshoe.]] She's apparently one of the smaller Wonderbolts, but makes up for it with great speed. She wins the derby in "Sweet and Elite". In the comics, she develops a crush on Big [=McIntosh=] after being hit by some fireworks and crashing into him at a festival.

* AllThereInTheManual: Creator/IDWPublishing's ''[[ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW Friendship is Magic]]'' comic book issue #9 reveals her eye color and her cutie mark.
** ...which gets subsequently {{Jossed}} by the episode "Rainbow Falls"
* AscendedExtra: She is only briefly mentioned and could only be identified via a FreezeFrameBonus in "Sweet and Elite", but shows up in "Rainbow Falls" as a major character.
* FreezeFrameBonus: How she's identified. In "Sweet and Elite" its announced she's the winner of the race, however it's hard to tell which Wonderbolt is Fleetfoot since they move so fast. Pausing at the right moment reveals she's the blue, white maned Wonderbolt.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Instantly falls for Big Mac when she first sees him, though the concussion she got may have helped.
* MsViceGirl: Like Spitfire, she has a real problem with her pride and ego, but not so much that she won't admit if she's screwed up by doing something questionable after being called out on it compared to the regular [[Characters/{{FriendshipIsMagic-JerksAndBullies}} jerks and bullies]] that show up in FIM.
* OCStandIn: Had a rather notable example in the Blog/AskAPony community with [[http://ask-echo-wonderbolt.tumblr.com/ Echo]], the [[HandicappedBadass blind Wonderbolt]]. The blog started a few days before "Sweet and Elite" aired. Echo's was popular in that community despite Fleetfoot being little more than a named background pony.
* OffModel: In a wide shot in "The Best Night Ever", she's missing her tail.
* SmugSuper: Seeing as she's one of the fastest Wonderbolts and thus fliers she has no problem showing that off. In "Rainbow Falls", both she and Spitfire are more adamant than anything about winning the competition because of them being natural winners, though Fleetfoot is about five times more blunt about it. Even the comic, which instead played her up as an {{Adorkable}} StalkerWithACrush, still has a bit of this, as she has an ImagineSpot of marrying Big Mac and resigning from the Wonderbolts which leads them to disband, outright stating she feels that they're nothing without her.
* StalkerWithACrush: #10 of the comic portrays her as this to Big Mac.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: She's playable in {{Gameloft}}'s ''VideoGame/MyLittlePony'' game, though her mane is solid light blue, has blue wings, and a white nose and ears. Preview demos had the white, blonde-maned Wonderbolt incorrectly labeled as Fleetfoot, so her model may have been changed late in development to closer match the show's Fleetfoot.
** The comic and cartoon adaptations notably differ in appearances. In the cartoon she has purple eyes and in the comic they're green. While her cutie mark consists of a horseshoe in both, the cartoon portrays it as a black one diving down and reaching a sonic boom the comic one instead shows it as a yellow one with wings.

* AllThereInTheScript: The last part of her name, Dazzle, has only been used in the toyline; specifically, in the Miniature Collection's Daring Pony Story Set.
* {{Badass}}: So much that she impresses Rainbow Dash into becoming a fan of her series.
** BadassAdorable: This is a given considering she's a PaletteSwap of Rainbow Dash.
** BadassBookworm : An archeologist and author that can battle several big cats at once.
** HandicappedBadass: In ''Quest for the Sapphire Stone'', her right wing was injured in a crash, rendering her unable to fly.
** BroughtDownToBadass: On that note, she loses her ability to fly and becomes Indiana Jones. Flying and she would be almost too good to work as an adventurer archaeologist.
* CharacterNameAndTheNounPhrase: How the titles of her books work.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Her adventurous lifestyle had made her much tougher than the average pony; she recovers quite fast from most injuries, and when she can't escape a death trap by skill, she can do it by sheer strength and determination.
* {{Determinator}}: Nothing's going to stop her from getting the Sapphire Relic.
* EscapeArtist : She's extremely good at escaping death traps. Even when Rainbow Dash had to help her escape from one, Daring was already half-way out.
* {{Expy}}: Ponydom's answer to Franchise/IndianaJones mixed with a bit of [[Franchise/TombRaider Lara Croft]].
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Cargo top but no bottom.

* IWorkAlone: Her attitude to [[spoiler:Rainbow Dash]] at first, but she warms up in the end.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Daring comes across as aloof, cynical, and distrusting of others, but at the end, she does warm up a bit to [[spoiler:Rainbow Dash]].
* MeaningfulName: She is a Doer of Daring Things. Also, probably a pun on derring-do, which she is prone to.

The Head of the Equestria Games, who also acts as its official inspector and judge.

* {{Adorkable}}: After the CMC performance in the near end, she practically gushes over of how stupendous it really is in the most fangirlish way possible.
* ArtEvolution: At least within "Flight to the Finish", the animators spent extra time to give her more exaggerated mouth movements to accent her proper enunciation and StuffyBrit mannerisms.
* BeingPersonalIsntProfessional: Her ''raison d'etre''; she makes other ponies who work with her follow the same mindset. [[HypocriticalHumor Thankfully, she's not immune to breaking her own rules]].
* ButtMonkey: In "Games Ponies Play", she gets passed over in favor of a stranger who happens to fit the ''very'' vague description of her. Then she gets splashed by a sidewalk puddle ''twice'', while carrying her heavy luggage.
* TheComicallySerious: She's a serious mare, which makes her funny when surrounded by silliness.
* [[IronLady Iron Mare]]: She takes her job very, ''very'' seriously. However, the Mane Six, the CMC, and Spike have managed to draw out her more [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold friendly]] or [[NotSoAboveItAll fun-loving]] side on separate occasions.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's stuffy and no-nonsense most of the time, but is also easily moved by how hospitable the Mane 6 were to Ms. Peachbottom, and is considerably less stern to Spike during the closing ceremony of the Equestria Games.
* LastNameBasis: She repeatedly addresses other characters by their last names, if they ''have'' [[OnlyOneName last names]] (e.g., Rainbow Dash is "Miss Dash", Spike the Dragon is "Mister [[SpeciesSurname the Dragon]]").
* MeaningfulName: She's a pony, so when she speaks, she technically whinnies. She's also a very grouchy and surly DeadpanSnarker.
* NotSoAboveItAll: In "Flight to the Finish", she tries to keep Rainbow Dash from geeking out over her role as Equestria Games coach, only to do exactly the same when she first sees the [=CMC's=] flag-carrying routine.
* [[PowerHair Power Mane]]: It is close cut.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite being unintentionally humiliated by the Mane Six's antics in "Games Ponies Play", and even ''knowing'' who's responsible, she still takes their kindness towards a complete stranger into consideration in her decision to name the Crystal Empire the host of the Equestria Games.
* StuffyBrit: Speaks with an exaggerated Received Pronunciation accent.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/CathyWeseluck

* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Played with:

[[folder:Zecora]]
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zecora_9590.jpg]]

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E9BridleGossip Bridle Gossip]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Brenda Crichlow

* AlliterativeName: Zecora the Zebra.
* ADogNamedDog: "Zecora" means "zebra".
* OutOfFocus:

'''Full Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Call of the Cutie]]"

* {{Expy}}: Of G3 and G3.5 Cheerilee.

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E4ApplebuckSeason Applebuck Season]]"

* AlliterativeName: Both of them!

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TabithaStGermain (Pound) and Creator/AndreaLibman (Pumpkin)[[note]]both according to [[https://twitter.com/AndreaLibman/status/158608461507215362 these]] [[https://twitter.com/AndreaLibman/status/162973658627833857 two]] tweets by Creator/AndreaLibman[[/note]]

Mr.

* SayMyName:
-->'''Pound:''' Pinkie...
-->'''Pumpkin:''' Pie...

-->'''Debut:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]"

* AlliterativeName: [[AdaptationNameChange Snipsy Snap]].
* [[AttentionWhore Attention Horses]]: They ENJOY the humiliating Gabby Gums article the CMC wrote about them, and repeat their chewing gum accident for an audience.
%% * {{Beady Eyed Loser}}s

* MeaningfulName:

* BadassInDistress:
* OpaqueLenses: Their goggles.
"Wonderbolts" is used in the title of the episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E7WonderboltsAcademy Wonderbolts Academy]]", on Spitfire, Misty Fly & Soarin's [[http://i48.tinypic.com/285h1k.png collector cards]] (as a trademark), in Enterplay's [[TheMerch trading cards]] (in [[http://chimicherrychanga.com/img/tc/22a.jpg the front of the Spitfire & Soarin' card]]'s case, as a trademark), in Ruckus Media Group's [[IOSGames iOS app]] ''[[http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-little-pony-twilight-sparkle/id465213808?mt=8 Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day]]'', in {{Gameloft}}'s ''VideoGame/MyLittlePony'' game, on Hasbro's ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' Website/{{Facebook}} and {{Twitter}} pages and in a [[http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/File:%22The_Wonderbolts%22_name_dispute_email_screenshot.png response]] by the company's customer service, on Creator/TheHub's {{Facebook}} [[http://www.facebook.com/hubtvnetwork page]], in Mighty Fine's [[TheMerch merchandise]] and listings of & advertising for said merchandise, in a [[https://twitter.com/Fyre_flye/status/241037025476747265 tweet]] by show creator Creator/LaurenFaust, [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/233652109290131457 as]] [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/254016274819055616 well]] [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/254065810614652928 as]] [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/254274233197264896 in]] [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/260835935405604864 six]] [[https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/261483846204272641 tweets]] by writer Amy Keating Rogers, while "Wonder Bolts" is used on the Miniature Collection toy sets' boxes (as a trademark), in the British [[TieInNovel magazine story]] "The Ticket Master" (a {{Novelization}} of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E3TheTicketMaster the episode of the same name]]), [[http://www.facebook.com/mylittlepony/posts/348953445122099 by]] Hasbro's ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' Website/{{Facebook}} [[http://www.facebook.com/mylittlepony page]], as well as [[https://twitter.com/M_A_Larson/status/227059090948493312 by]] writer M.A. Larson "[=WonderBolts=]" has been used in a [[https://twitter.com/MMeghanMcCarthy/status/254072938737856513 tweet]] by writer Meghan [=McCarthy=].
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: Possibly.
* VagueAge: Their goggles hide whether or not they have bags under their eyes.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse:

* {{Pride}}: Her biggest vice.

* BigNo: "MYYYYYYYYYYY PIIIIIIEEEEEE!"
Ouch.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pie.

!!Fleetfoot

[[caption-width-right:200:Not everyone can fly with the winners.]]

-->'''First Appearance:''' "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E26TheBestNightEver The Best Night Ever]]"

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AndreaLibman

!!Rapidfire
Another participant in the "Sweet & Elite" race, Fancypants believed he would win, but Fleetfoot beat him and the other Wonderbolts. Unlike Fleetfoot, which one he is isn't entirely clear other than "not Soarin". It [[http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83737&view=findpost&p=1960624 isn't specified]] which one he is but he's most likely the gray one with a white mane who appears at the start of, during and at the finish of the Derby; [[{{Blooper}} at least one other unnamed male Wonderbolt appears in some shots, but not all of them]].

She's notably the first Wonderbolt to get a toy, though she's [[NoNameGiven unnamed there]].

* AscendedExtra: She's the first Wonderbolt to get a toy. She's even on the banner at [[http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ubB0FzVcX-Q/T_4q4Fu0QEI/AAAAAAAAv2o/uMA9C9ZVKXo/s1600/1.jpg Comic Con]], among main characters and fan favorites with Spitfire & Soarin nowhere in sight!
* DependingOnTheArtist: In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E10SecretOfMyExcess Secret of My Excess]]" (her only Season 2 appearance), she has a noticeably darker mane than in her other appearances (in the show, the ExpandedUniverse, the toy line, and TheMerch).
* {{Expy}}: Surprise was a G1 pony.
* LawyerFriendlyCameo: Hasbro doesn't have trademark rights to the name "Surprise" anymore, so she can never actually be called that in official products (except the trading card game with some fan input)

Daring Do [[AllThereInTheScript Dazzle]] is an archaeologist pegasus with yellow fur and a grayscale mane who is the heroine of the adventurous tale of ''Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone'' as well as many other titles, a series of books anypony can enjoy.

There's also a highly detailed [[JustForFun fictional]] [[JustForFun/DaringDo Daring Do work page]] if you are interested.

* [[ActionGirl Action Mare]]: "Another day, another dungeon".
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Considering [[IndianaJones who]] she's an {{Expy}} of, it comes with the territory.
* AdventurerOutfit: Complete with pith helmet.
* AlliterativeName: Daring Do [[AllThereInTheScript Dazzle]].
* {{Expy}}: Ponydom's answer to Franchise/IndianaJones mixed with a bit of [[Franchise/TombRaider Lara Croft]].
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Cargo top but no bottom.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: [[spoiler:Literally. She's the author of an autobiographical series that happens usually separately from the main show.]]
* NiceHat: It even helps her to escape Ahuizotl's trap!
* PaletteSwap: Of Rainbow Dash, down to leaving a greyscale rainbow trail behind her when she flies.
* PenName: Either Daring's pen name is [[spoiler:A.K. Yearling]] or Daring is just her alias.
* RealAfterAll: Her adventures are actually autobiographical and not a work of fiction.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: "Daring Do" is the trademarked[[note]](in RealLife, not {{In-Universe}})[[/note]] spelling used on [[http://theponyartcollection.tumblr.com/post/26391734445 her and Mare Do Well's trading card]], the ''Another day, another dungeon'' trading card and on the shirt ''[[http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=1922 Daring Do]]'', but "Daring-Do" is the spelling used on the cover of ''Quest for the Sapphire Stone'' (shown in legible form on her and Mare Do Well's trading card and on the shirt ''[[http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=2722 Daring-Do]] [[http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=2725 Cover]]'').
