* AssholeVictim: Kefka betrays him and gets the power of The Warring Triad and uses it to knock Gestahl off a cliff, killing him. Considering that this only happened to him because he [[PromotedToScapegoat betrayed Kefka]], and taking into account his other crimes as an EvilOverlord, it's easy to say he had it coming.

Shadow's equipment, including Espers, are removed in the scene at the Statues. He can't possibly have an Esper equipped

* SoLongAndThanksForAllTheGear: If you don't wait for him on the Floating Island and he has an Esper equipped, you're not getting that Esper back.

* Battle Couple: Molulu is Mog's girlfriend.
* HufflepuffHouse: The three parties the players controls when protecting Terra only have two important characters between them, Locke and Mog. The third party, led by Mogsy, is comparatively unimportant.
* OddNameOut: They all share a general theme of "Mo" or "Mu" at the beginning of their name. Cosmog is the only one with "Mo" at the end instead.
* WeaponBasedCharacterization: They all have similar statlines and don't participate in the plot long enough to exhibit much of a personality. The only real difference between them is what weapons they use, which are all above average for that point in the game.
* UncertainDoom: They're all missing in the World of Ruin. Mog can be found alone in the cave where they were, staring at a charm that is said to be Molulu's.

Added DiffLines:

* ScarilyCompetentTracker: You can make him Leap in one battle and then travel halfway across the Veldt, and Gau will still rejoin you in a later battle. Your location on the Veldt is irrelevant. No matter where you are on the Veldt, Gau ''will'' find you as long as you've got an open space in the party.

* DiscOneNuke: Edgar is easily the strongest member of your team when you get him. His Auto Crossbow hits all enemies for more damage than a normal attack, at no cost or drawback, and will end most enemy encounters in one turn. Once you get to Zozo and learn magic, the Auto Crossbow starts to fade in power, but Edgar gets a Disc Two Nuke with the Flash (which is basically the Auto Crossbow but better), and he also gets the Drill and Chainsaw for high single target damage (the Drill hits harder, as it ignores armor, while the Chainsaw has a 25% to instantly kill enemies vulnerable to it, making it better for random encounters). By the time you get to the World of Ruin, he's on equal footing with everyone else.
