* EvilerThanThou: He apparently considers himself this to Frieza, often commenting on how "soft" he is.[[note]]This was only in the original Japanese version.[[/note]]
* EvilMentor: He is an optional mentor for the player in 'Videogame/DragonBallXenoverse2''.
* EvilOverlord: Similar to his brother, though Cooler seemingly outranks him.

* {{Expy}}: Chilled is the second Frieza clone in the franchise after Cooler, [[Characters/DragonBallFrost and not the last]]. Like Cooler, he is also related to him by blood.

Nicky, Ginger & Sansho are Garlic Jr.'s right hand men in the film Dead Zone. Nicky is a green human-like Makyan. He has white hear and wears a white cloak. Ginger is a goblin-like Makyan wearing red armor. Sansho is a bulky, black lobster-like Makyan. The evil warriors kidnapped Gohan and brought the Half-Saiyan boy back to Garlic Jr.'s fortress in the sky. Goku came and beat up the three Makyan warriors, despite powering up to their limit. Later, Piccolo and Krillin arrived. Piccolo beat up Sansho and blasted him in half with a Ki Blast. Nicky and Ginger attacked Goku again, but they were both killed by a Kamehameha. The three beasts are later seen escaping from Hell in the film Fusion Reborn.

** CameBackWrong: A very small and subtle example, but for whatever reason, Meta-Cooler is based on his fourth form, instead of his stronger fifth form. Not that he needed it, given that Meta was still strong enough to [[spoiler: push Goku and Vegeta to their very limits, and came scarily close to killing them both]].

Added DiffLines:

** Averted with Meta-Cooler, who is never seen in that form, and does not have access to it in the video games in which he appears.

* DubText: When Paragus abandons Broly after losing control of him, the original Japanese Language soliloquy delivered by IemasaKayumi was one of reluctant sadness and regret ("Soon the meteor will arrive to destroy New Vegeta; I'm sorry that you have to die like this, my boy; but now that you are out of control, it is the only way the universe won't be destroyed.") The ''English'' language version, however, added a LOT of stupid additions like like "now that I can't control you, you are of no use to me and is less than a thought on the back of my mind" to unnecessarily make Paragus a jerk who never loved Broly in the first place, the better to dumb down the dialogue to make it "easier for little kids" to accept why a father would his own flesh and blood. This stupid and unnecessary change of dialogue runs in ''direct'' contradiction to earlier scenes of Paragus being a loving father who risked his life defying King Vegeta to protect his baby boy, and was forced to confine him to a life of constant torture to prevent the universe from being destroyed.

* {{Foil}}: Although the two have never met, he's one to Raditz - both are the older sibling of another character (Raditz to Goku, Cooler to Frieza) who hold their younger sibling in contempt, but is willing to put aside his differences with said sibling if a common enemy shows up (although will try to kill said sibling if the opportunity presents itself), only to be eventually surpassed by said younger sibling (Goku surpasses Raditz by becoming a Super Saiyan, while Frieza surpassed Cooler by obtaining his Golden Frieza form). However, the difference is that Raditz's disdain for Goku came from the latter rejecting his violent saiyan heritage; Cooler and Frieza have similar ruthless personalities, but Cooler considers Frieza an obstacle in conquering the universe.

A space pirate and the main antagonist from the TV special, ''Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock''. He is an ancestor of Frieza, but, since it's not clear how long his species live for, it's also not clear how distant of an ancestor he is.

* TheGhost: In ''Videogame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', a Time Patroller named Jierra who belongs to Frieza's race recalled fighting against him and almost defeating him, but had to stop since they needed him in order to pass on Frieza's family the legend of the Super Saiyans. He also called him annoying. This is interesting to note as this is the only nod to Chilled outside of ''Heroes'', as the ''Episode of Bardock'' is considered a WhatIf story.

* WouldntHurtAChild: The reason he let Goku live instead of blow up his pod was partially to spite Frieza, and partially due to this trope.

* InsignificantLittleBluePlanet: Notably subverted -- unlike previous villains like Frieza and King Cold who sneer at Earth, Paragus considers it "a lush, green, healthy planet, the most beautiful planet in the cosmos!" and even goes so far as to lure its protectors far away from it because he doesn't want it to be damaged in battle.

In the original Japanese Version, him luring Vegeta to "New Vegeta" was a ploy to stall him long enough for the incoming meteorite to obliterate him.

* OverprotectiveDad: Played with. On the one hand, he's notably more sentimental about his progeny than most Saiyan parents are, pleading with King Vegeta to spare his son's life when most Saiyans would have shrugged it off. He stays by Broly's side for the remainder of his life, and seems to take some pride in his son's abnormal strength. But on the other hand, he also enslaves said son to his will vial a SlaveCollar when Broly grows beyond his control, and has no problems with basically weaponizing him as his instrument to conquer the galaxy with.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Played with -- Paragus can ''come off'' as this due to having enslaved his son in an effort to control him, a noble gesture on the face of it as Broly is capable of destroying entire solar systems when left unchecked. After his Motive Rant to the Z Fighters, however, it becomes clear that Paragus's extremism isn't well-intentioned at all, as the only thing stopping him from letting Broly run wild is the fact that he wants an empire to rule.

to:

* TragicVillain: Had King Vegeta ''not'' ordered the execution of Broly, both he and Paragus would have ''still'' likely escaped Freeza's genocide of their race, ''sane and untraumatized.'' And Paragus, being (by Saiyan standards) a loving father, would have raised a happy and talented little boy into a prodigy warrior not unlike Kakarot.

The dub unnecessarily made Universal Conquest his ''primary'' motivation, lessening the tragedy of King Vegeta's transgressions on his family.
