* MeaningfulName: Seems fitting that a guy named Rig would work at an oil ''rig''. [[spoiler:The ''verb'' "rig" also means "to manipulate fraudulently", as in ''rigging a tournament''.]]

* NiceGuy: He's genuinely nice to his friends, and even helps [[ButtMonkey Zack]] convince Diego to join the Dead or Alive tournament in 6 [[spoiler:while under the effects of the "amnesia" implant]].
* NumerologicalMotif: Surprisingly, Rig attains this without having his own ArcNumber, thanks to a couple of his sports-themed costumes in ''5''. In his soccer uniform, Rig wears the number 10, which represents the attacking midfielder position, while for his Tecmo Bowl football jersey, he wears 17, a number usually worn by quarterbacks. These positions serve as star playmakers and offensive field generals in their respective sports, which matches Rig's fluid, creative, attack-minded fighting style [[spoiler:as well as his true self's place near the top of MIST's hierarchy]].

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Rig" is just a pseudonym; he doesn't remember his actual name.

* WolverinePublicity: Due to her newfound popularity as a BreakoutCharacter, much of the marketing for ''[=DOA5=]: Last Round'' and ''Xtreme 3'' revolves around her. Finally, as of the sixth episode the main series has given her an important role, even though [[spoiler:she doesn't know it herself yet]].

* IJustWantToBeNormal: [[spoiler:She falls into this after attacking Bayman and his men, leaving afterward with a sad expression. She also dislikes having to kill people despite this being the purpose for which she was created.]]

* POVCam: Used very briefly [[spoiler:when she attacks Bayman and his unit.]]

* IdenticalStranger: Honoka uses Marie's face model, which suggests that the two of them have some kind of connection. Marie and Honoka are also designated partners in her trailer. Played for laughs with a pun during their tag intro in the Japanese version. [[spoiler:Although Honoka does have many (rather important) familial connections, Marie ironically ''isn't'' one of them; they're just close friends.]]

* LukeIMightBeYourFather: It has been noted that her PowerCopying and red aura during her Hissatsu-no-Kamae moves are very similar to Raidou's abilities, leading many to believe that the two may be related. In addition, the two are tag partners, and their tag winpose has Honoka ask Raidou if she's seen him somewhere before. There's also an implication during her tag partner with Ayane, though Ayane isn't aware how Honoka is connected to Ayane's father, Raidou. [[spoiler:These implications are [[LukeIAmYourFather confirmed]] as of the sixth game's story mode. Honoka is Raidou's daughter, Ayane's half-sister, and Kasumi's and Hayate's cousin, as well as Shiden's and Ayame's niece.]]

Given her overall “mature” look and some of her outfits (like her SexySecretary outfit), it’s no wonder that most fans think of her as “MILF-looking,” despite what her real age might be.
