* AdaptationalBadass: Part three of the ''Thousand-Year Blood War''"s anime adaptation, ''The Conflict'', will see him bailing out Jugram and his Schutzstaffel comrades from Senjumaru's Bankai, given that the Royal Guard were also tougher. ''How'' he snaps out of his imprisonment remains to be seen.

* MsFanservice: A lot more so in the anime, where we see her in a schoolgirl uniform, a belly-dancer outfit (which shows her cleavage in a few shots), a bikini (where she bears her midriff), a kimono specifically modified to reveal her legs (as Dark Rukia) and a succubus outfit. A lot of attention is given to her legs and thighs in each of those outfits. In the manga, a chapter cover shows both her and Orihime nude from behind, the beach spread partially exposes her butt; and in the ''1000 Year Blood War'' arc, Ichigo is treated to a shot of her exposed butt while she's floating unconscious in a hot spring and Tenjirƍ Kirinji pokes fun at his reaction by asking if it puts him in the mood for peaches. In chapter 567's cover, she gets a very flattering shot of her [[TooplessnessFromTheBack shirtless back]] and ass while looking over her shoulder.

* ShipperOnDeck: When Chad asks Ichigo what he thinks of Orihime's dress, Ichigo becomes flustered and this causes Yoruichi to berate him for not complimenting Orihime's appearance. Few later Chad, Ichigo and Orihime are attacked by monsters, and when Ichigo pretty much cradles Orihime close to protect her, Chad gives him a thumbs-up.

* AlmightyJanitor: Despite being TheHeroine and an overall skilled fighter, Rukia is - for roughly three quarters of the series - a rank and file Soul Reaper who didn't even qualify for a seated officer position. {{Justified}} as Byakuya pulled some strings to help ensure she didn't get ranked as one out of his desire to protect her. After the timeskip, she is Squad 13's new Lieutenant as a sign of where she truly ranks in her squad.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Rukia was (unknown to Rukia) abandoned by her older sister in the poorest part of Soul Society, and grew up a poor child having to steal to survive. While she would meet Renji and some other kids and create a small family dynamic with them, but all of the other kids eventually died except herself and Renji. Both went on to become Soul Reapers, but after being adopted by the Kuchiki family, was put into Squad 13, where she had few friends. She found a mentor in Kaien Shiba, but when Kaien was taken over by an experimental Hollow, she was forced to kill Kaien to save both herself and her captain. She was unable to forgive herself for decades until Ichigo gave her the chance to face up to her past, make peace with herself and apologise to Kaien's family for what happened.

->[[Characters/BleachOrihimeInoue Click here * AdaptationDyeJob: The color of Orihime's eyes vary from the manga to the {{anime}}. They are shown as brown in the manga while the anime depicts them as silver or gray; ''The Thousand Year Blood War anime'' fixes this back to brown. This goes for her hair too, as it's orange in the anime, but in the {{manga}} it's slightly inconsistent. Characters remark that she has brown or chestnut hair, but manga covers and such vary between her having brown or orange hair
* AllLovingHeroine:
** When she's captured by the Arrancar, she refuses to hurt them, shows them love and heals those who torture and abuse her. In the ''Nestle to Night'' novel, it's confirmed that the reason Harribel and her fraccions are still alive is because Orihime healed them. When she steps between Shishigawara and Tsukishima, Tsukishima notes her reputation and admits he's not surprised
to see her page]]trying to protect a man who had just threatened to kill her. However, he turns out to be wrong; [[spoiler: she was trying to maintain Tsukishima's attention so she could confirm whether or not he was the person who had almost killed Uryu]].
** This aspect is also {{Deconstructed|CharacterArchetype}} when it comes to her powers. Her powers get stronger by the amount she believes or wants to do something, which makes it strong for supporting others because she is a kind person who wants to help people, but poor for offense because said kindness means she cannot muster a desire to truly want to hurt someone. When she tries to help fight Yammy the first time, she gets hurt badly because she couldn't bring herself to try to kill someone. This is part of the reason why Urahara tries not to have her join the conflict, as her kind nature makes her in combat too much of a liability.
* AttackReflector: Her Shiten Kƍshun (Defiant Shield of the Four Heavens), which blocks an enemy's attack and then unleashes a concentrated explosion along the attack's opposing trajectory.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Orihime is a huge {{cloudcuckoolander}} and gets distracted very easily, which is played up in the anime. This just adds adorableness to her, though.
* BabiesEverAfter: The epilogue reveals she and Ichigo have a son together named Kazui Kurosaki, who she watches over using her Shun Shun Rika.
* BadassAdorable: Orihime is notable for her beauty and compassion, and generally takes a passive or supportive role in combat situations -- namely by defending and healing her allies. Despite this, when pushed she's capable of taking a more active role in combat, as seen when she kills Numb Chandelier for attacking Tatsuki; when she stops and injures Ginjo when he tries to attack Ichigo while he's being healed; when she stands with Ichigo, Ishida and Sado to fight some Hollows; and when Ichigo chooses her as his partner for the first part of the definitive fight against Yhwach.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: In the final arc, Urahara gives her a dress that exposes her entire stomach and a great deal of cleavage, accentuating her shapely, feminine and attractive figure. She's embarrassed by the amount of skin it shows, but wears it because he tells her Ichigo will like it.
* BarrierWarrior: All of her abilities use barriers to accomplish various goals. Her triangle shield blocks attacks, her oval shield heals injuries, her four-part shield reflects attacks, and even her attack power is essentially launching a barrier at her opponent to slice them in half.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: At her wits' end after seeing Ulquiorra blow a hole in Ichigo's chest and maul Uryu, she desperately screams for Ichigo's help. Ichigo hears her plea and resolves to protect her... [[CameBackWrong coming back as a nearly mindless Hollow]] who easily defeats Ulquiorra and then turns on Uryu for objecting to him continuing to carve up Ulquiorra's apparently dead body. As Hollow Ichigo prepares to finish off Uryu, Orihime berates herself for always ending up depending on Ichigo.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Zigzagged somewhat, but Orihime's physical injuries are usually miniscule compared to the men and other women of the series. One rare exception is the beating that Loly delivers, which does leave very noticeable wounds on her face. Another exception comes at the hands of Quilge Opie. Sado gets the worst of it, but Orihime gets a ''massive'' chunk of her hip blown out.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Orihime was picked on in middle school because of her hair color, with some of her bullies giving her a TraumaticHaircut to be cruel; she would keep it short to avoid their bullying. One day, [[BullyHunter Tatsuki]] protected from them which allowed Orihime to grow her hair again. And to Orihime, letting her hair grow long is a sign of gratitude for Tatsuki's actions and as a symbol of their friendship.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: When she first unleashes her powers, she turns the tables on what the attacking Hollow thought was the victim (Orihime) and the protector (Tatsuki), killing the Hollow in a single strike for daring to harm Tatsuki. Later on in the [=XCution=] arc, Ginjo gets introduced the hard way to this side of her.
-->'''Orihime:''' Sadistic? I don't mind you calling me that. If you don't want to get hurt... '''Don't attack me when I say not to'''.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Ichigo, orange hair that gets them into trouble with bullies, loss of a family member, magnets of the opposite sex, and {{All Loving Hero}}es. By the epilogue the two are HappilyMarried.
* BizarreTasteInFood: Orihime is infamous in-universe for the very strange combinations she makes of what would normally be completely ordinary ingredients. As a result, few want to try her food because it sounds so weird everyone assumes it will taste disgusting. Those brave (or crazy) enough to try discover that she's actually an excellent cook and those weird combinations actually taste wonderful.
* BoobBasedGag: She's constantly being felt up by Chizuru, and Yachiru's nicknames for her include Jiggles and Big Boobies. Urahara finally invokes the trope by tricking her into putting on a ''very'' {{Stripperiffic}} outfit with one hell of a CleavageWindow ''and'' {{underboobs}}. Urahara designs the dress so that if she tries to push her breasts further into the dress from the front, they'll end up popping out the sides. In fact, her boobs are so big that Yourichi is able to put her entire arm through them with ease.
* BoundAndGagged: Her arms were bound and her mouth was gagged by Grimmjow, who put her under a rag in order to keep her hidden from view of the other Arrancar. As soon as they reach Ichigo, he removes the bounds and cuts the gag immediately.
* BoyishShortHair: In the past, she cut her hair very short to stop bullies from messing with it. After she befriended Tatsuki, who drove away anyone who would bully her, she grew it out to its current length.
* BreakingTheCycleOfBadParenting: Her own parents were stated to have been abusive by her older brother (who ran off with her as soon as he was old enough to act as her legal guardian). In contrast, she's shown to be a loving and attentive mother to Kazui in the epilogue.
* BreakTheCutie: A plot point in the Arrancar Arc that led to a huge, but recoverable, HeroicBSOD. While trying to deal with the surfacing of her long-buried self-esteem issues, she was emotionally blackmailed into entering the {{Big Bad}}'s lair, received a brutal beating by two very jealous Arrancar girls and had to watch Ichigo almost die by Ulquiorra's hand.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: For most of the series, Ichigo is a scowling young man who harbors tremendous guilt whenever he can't protect anyone, while Orihime remained mostly upbeat and hopeful.
* BustContrastDuo: Orihime is a benign soul and buxom figure who contrasts with Rukia's petite frame and temperamental nature.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: One of the reasons she's so popular at school and in the Soul Society is her enormous bust size. Adulthood seems to have been kind to her, as by her marriage to Ichigo her breasts are now even bigger than ''Rangiku''.
* CallingYourAttacks: During the Soul Society Arc, Orihime works very hard to learn how to call her powers without calling the names. The extra effort saves the lives of herself, Uryu and Arimaki when Mayuri uses his soldiers as human bombs to try and kill them due to the fact she can call them instantaneously. After the Soul Society Arc, she usually reverts to calling her attacks in the standard style, except when her shields pop up unexpectedly during dramatic moments to protect a friend who looks like they're about to be defeated.
* CharacterDevelopment: Goes from being cheerful into a very solemn character since the Arrancar arc first began. Then she returns straight back to being cheerful, but with a pluckier disposition.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Ichigo. They've known each other since middle school and were still acquainted with one another during high school. And during the latter, they became closer friends and warrior comrades. By the epilogue, they are married with a son.
* CleavageWindow: In the final arc, she wears a dress that is reminiscent of her Las Noches dress, except for the amount of skin it exposes, which includes a very large gap in the centre of her chest.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Friendliness and love are Orihime's defining traits, but she also proves to be a ''wee bit odd'' on more than a few occasions, like answering a questionnaire about how she sees herself in the future by drawing herself as a giant killer robot, [[CordonBleughChef combining incompatible ingredients in her meals]], and creating equally bizarre sports like a combination of baseball and soccer. This trait is totally flattened during her time Las Noches, because hey, ''psychological torture'' and ''physical abuse'', especially for someone as gentle as her, does that to you, but resurfaces full-bore afterwards. Her first appearance post-TimeSkip has her jumping out a window without a second's regard for her safety just to meet Ichigo and Tatsuki.
* CombatMedic: She tries to be this, but since she lacks any KillingIntent her offensive ability is absolutely pitiful. However, she has some of the best healing powers in the story and eventually finds a way around her limitations in combat.
* CordonBleughChef: She has an odd way of combining ingredients and food items which prevents anyone from wanting to try her meals. Her food is actually quite tasty, but very few people know this because they're too scared to try her crazy recipes. The sole exception is fellow {{Cloudcuckoolander}} Rangiku.
* CovertPervert: During her more CloudCuckoolander moments, she's revealed to have a rather lascivious and naughty side. When Ichigo invited her to his room she happily fidgeted and imagined him seducing her for sex despite that not happening at all and at one point rambled about how much she enjoyed BDSM.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She's actually pretty physically impressive for a human, though she doesn't look it. However, early on she had a kind of absent minded ditziness and tendency to accidentally get herself hurt.
* CrushFilter: When Orihime reminisces on visiting Ichigo with leftover bread in the Fullbringer arc, Ichigo is depicted suavely inviting her inside while wearing a suit. While Orihime swoons over the memory, the audience is presented with reality of Ichigo in casual clothes simply saying "Wanna come in?"
* DamselInDistress: The Hueco Mundo arc is absolutely NOT shy about showing the tremendous emotional and physical strain it brings on a person forced in a hostage situation. It goes to the extreme of causing her an epic HeroicBSOD. She didn't really recover until well after being rescued.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: In the manga, it's briefly mentioned that [[AbusiveParents Orihime's parents were abusive]]; it was the reason her older brother Sora left them to raise her himself when he turned eighteen. She [[AngstWhatAngst chats about it quite casually to Riruka]] during the Fullbringer arc, probably because she was just three years old back then thus she was too young to properly remember their bad treatment of her. And after that she was bullied because of her hair color and her brother died in accident.
* DeathByFallingOver: In the pilot, her deceased father pushed her down some steps, killing her in the process.
* DemotedToExtra: Her role is significantly decreased in the first Bleach musical adaptation, and she's excised entirely from the later ones.
* DitzyGenius: Very much so. Orihime is actually very well-read and intelligent, consistently scoring among the best grades in her school, but is also dorky, clumsy and airheaded... You just wonder ''how'' such a goofy, spacey and flighty {{cloudcuckoolander}}, with her head constantly being somewhere else, can be near the top of the class in work grades. Everyone is actually shocked to see her name be so high up after exams.
* {{Dominatrix}}: A gag in [[{{Filler}} episode 169]] implies Orihime is one. When she hears about Ichigo's fight with Rurichiyo Kasumiƍji, she imagines that the princess was [[DressedLikeADominatrix dressed in revealing black leather, boots, and weapons]] and seems excited by the thought of her dominating Ichigo in the battle. Rukia, who's in earshot, {{lampshade|Hanging}}s this.
* DudeHesLikeInAComa: Orihime attempts to kiss an unconscious Ichigo while saying good bye to him before departing for Hueco Mundo. She stops inches away from his face and begins to cry, telling herself she was behaving badly for considering it.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: After years of living by herself, Orihime finally gets a family of her own, happily marries the man of her dreams, Ichigo, years after the Blood War, and gives birth to their son Kazui.
* EndearinglyDorky: Orihime is an outlandish, airheaded and naive girl yet is nothing but adorable, kind, sweet and idealistic.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: [[ChivalrousPervert Chizuru]] can't stop hitting on Orihime.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: She starts wearing her bangs in the style of the above picture shortly before the Soul Society arc. She introduces a different one after the Time-Skip, more similar to a HimeCut. In the last chapter, she keeps her hair in a mix of HimeCut and MotherlySidePlait.
* FanservicePack: Orihime begins the series with a moderately sized -- but not comically large -- bust and grows increasingly buxom over the course of the series both as part of Kubo's ArtEvolution and in-universe; with a classmate noting this at the beginning of the Tale of the Lost Agent arc. This can be justified, as Orihime is still a growing adolescent teenager who's still maturing for a girl her age. In swimsuit art of her as an adult published in the ''Jet'' artbook, she's shown with breasts larger than her head.
* FightingFromTheInside: Seeing Ichigo in pain, makes her start questioning why, which threatens the mind control she's under. Tsukishima, however, is on hand to address this, although his attempted MindRape is foiled by Urahara and Isshin.
%% * {{Flanderization}}: Anime writers love to make her [[CloudCuckooLander more ditzy]] than she really is in fillers.
* FlowerMotifs: Her hair clips and the names of her power fairies all evoke flowers[[note]]Ayame (Iris), Baigon (Plum Blossom), Hinagiku (Daisy), Lily ('''nuff said''), Shun'o (Althea), and Tsubaki (Camellia)[[/note]]; her clothes also have a lot of floral patterns.
* ForcedToWatch: Both Nnoitra and Ulquiorra make her watch as either they or their henchmen beat Ichigo within an inch of his life.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Orihime is a well-mannered girl who usually wears flowing skirts and wears her hair long in the memory of her brother. She nearly always retains her friendly, bubbly spirit and weird sense of humour, and prefers people to get along. Her abilities are personality based, focused on protecting and healing rather than physical violence. However, she's interested in sci-fi and robots, she reads boys' comics (and lends them out to boys), and she is a black-belt martial artist (the anime changes this to yellow-belt).
* GreenEyedMonster:
** In the early Arrancar arc, Orihime assumes that Ichigo is in love with Rukia and becomes depressed over her jealousy and how useless she is. A pep talk from Matsumoto and Rukia herself managed to snap her out of it.
** During the Vandenreich arc, when Neliel arrives and glomps Ichigo, now wearing a bracelet from Urahara that allows her to stay in her busty adult form for as long as she wants, Chad thinks Orihime's emotional reaction is jealousy and attempts to reassure her that the scene isn't what she's thinking. Orihime is startled by Chad's conclusion and tells him that isn't what she's thinking at all, but doesn't get the opportunity to clarify.
* GrowlingGut: Her tummy grumbles a few times from hunger when she insists she isn't really hungry.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:Although the ending doesn't show much, it's clear she's in a loving and happy marriage to Ichigo along with their son.]]
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Orihime tries hard to be more aggressive in combat, but since her fundamental nature hates violence she decides to focus more on her support abilities.
* HeadTurningBeauty: The Rukongai dwellers who watched her heal Jidanbou reminisce about how hot she is. By the time she's in her final year in school, she's very popular at school, with younger students even taking pictures of her. Her beauty distracts Shishigawara, temporarily subduing him [[PlayedForLaughs by accident]].
* HealingHands: She appears to reverse causality to make it so that an injury never happened. This ability has the potential to not only bring the dead back to life, but also to return those who have been vaporized back to life, though she herself has not demonstrated the ability to do so, and she has been known to struggle to heal injuries caused by extremely strong and unusual reiatsu like Ulquiorra's.
* HeroicBSOD: During the Arrancar Arc, Aizen enacts a hostage scenario that is designed to completely break Orihime. She eventually snaps when Ulquiorra punches a hole through Ichigo's chest and leaves behind reiatsu that prevents her from healing Ichigo. As she breaks down, she begins a mindless chant of Ichigo's name. The original Japanese uses a meaningless string of Hiragana to indicate a complete absence of sense or self-control.
* HeterosexualLifePartners:
** Since they were kids, she and Tatsuki have been tight-knit best friends who always hang out with each other.
** Becomes this with Rukia over the series -- encouraging and fiercely protecting each other. After being told that she'd be a burden without Tsubaki by Urahara, Rukia tells Orihime that she's a great person whose friends care for her and ''not'' a burden, stating that she would've died in Soul Society if Orihime didn't come.
* HiddenDepths: Despite being a spacey {{cloudcuckoolander}}, not only she's actually very intelligent and among the top students in her school, but she's as well introduced as one of the few classmates not afraid of Ichigo and who is surprisingly perceptive of his real moods. Then she's attacked by her hollowfied brother, helps Ichigo find the resolve to save Rukia and develops a level of power that makes her capable of entering Soul Society as part of the rescue team. Her self-esteem issues are dealt with for drama rather than comedy, culminating in a [[HeroicBSOD massive breakdown]] as a result of a [[BreakTheCutie carefully planned]] and protracted psychological assault.
* HopelessWithTech: Volume 12's slice of life sketch covers the school's Handicraft Club trying to cope with sewing competitions while their two best sewers (Orihime and Uryu) are off rescuing Rukia. When the club speculate about why the pair are uncontactable, someone suggests that Orihime doesn't own a mobile phone because she can't handle electronics. However, in the Lost Agent Arc, she is shown to not only possess a mobile, but to be experimenting with creating different ring tone designs too.
* ImplausibleHairColor: Her hair is orange in the anime like Ichigo's. WordOfGod states it's actually "caramel" coloured (and that he changed it from its original shade of "light sepia").
* ImportantHairAccessory: Her hairpins, given to her by her brother on the day he died and which she vowed she'd never stop wearing. Cue the time-skip where she's now too old to wear them in her hair but, in keeping with her promise, she continues to wear them as lapel accessories. She then puts them back on in the Thousand-Year-Old Blood War.
* ImportantHaircut: She let her red hair ''grow'' as a sign of her friendship with Tatsuki, after keeping it short due to an incident involving a TraumaticHaircut. Orihime's hair growth throughout the story is one of the visual signs used to show the passage of time, especially whenever a TimeSkip occurs. She gets it cut again by the finale after settling down with Ichigo.
* IncompatibleOrientation: She's straight, and eventually marrying Ichigo. That said, doesn't stop Chizuru from flirting with her.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: An extremely kind, generous, selfless and compassionate young lady who doesn't have a mean bone in her body and is very forgiving.
* InelegantBlubbering: After Ulquiorra more or less kills Ichigo in their second fight with a point-blank Cero and proceeds to maul Ishida while her healing powers fail to close the gaping hole in Ichigo's chest. Her screams of desperation ultimately revive Ichigo, [[CameBackWrong but not in the way she wanted (initially)]]. She also cries rather messily when she senses Ichigo crying in despair over Ginjo stealing his powers, even though she's not entirely sure what's going on due to Tsukishima's MindManipulation making her think that Ichigo's going crazy.
* InformedAbility: She's a karate black belt (yellow, in the anime). The only time we know she uses them is to subdue two Soul Reaper and steal their uniforms. The confrontation occurs off-screen, but Ishida's reaction is shown to the audience, and he's very impressed.
* IRejectYourReality: A ''literal'' example: Aizen describes Orihime's power as "the Rejection of Events": she creates a space in which any phenomenon, regardless of how or ''[[{{Retconjuration}} when]]'' it happened, can be negated at will. It's implied her lack of the [[{{Determinator}} personality traits]] usually associated with this trope is the only reason she can't OneHitKill most of the villains.
* KillingIntent: [[ActualPacifist She lacks this]], which is why Tsubaki is never effective as a weapon. She eventually learns to combine him with the other Shun Shun Rika to form shields that can both protect and [[AttackReflector turn attacks]] back onto the attacker at the same time.
* LastNameBasis: In the Japanese dub she addresses most people by their last names with appropriate honorifics; for example, she calls Ichigo "Kurosaki-kun," and Rukia "Kuchiki-san". One of the few exceptions is her long-time best friend Tatsuki, whom she calls "Tatsuki-chan," [[spoiler:and Ichigo calls her by her first name after they get married]].
* LegFocus: While it's not shown as much as other characters, her school uniform and other outfits shows she's got some sleek and slender legs on her.
* LikeParentLikeSpouse: She and Masaki share a similar hair color, facial features, and personality. In fact, both Karin and Yuzu commented that Orihime reminds them a lot of their mother in ''We Do Not Always Love You''.
* LuminescentBlush: When Ichigo and Chad state her new outfit's large CleavageWindow is a bit much for them, Orihime turns bright red and [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial immediately protests]] that she is not a CovertPervert. Yoruichi [[ThanksForTheMammaries interrupts her]], berates Ichigo for his tactlessness, and explains that Urahara tricked her into wearing it by saying [[AllMenArePerverts Ichigo would like it]].
* MacGuffinSuperPerson: Aizen grabs her because she should be able to speed the acceleration of the Hogyoku's awakening. It was just a decoy to keep as many captain level fighters off the battlefield as possible.
* MadnessMantra: An internal example when Ichigo is mortally wounded by Ulquiorra's Cero Oscuras and Uryƫ has his arm torn off -- broken in the anime. She collapses and begins repeating "Kurosaki-kun..." over and over entirely in hiragana, meaning it's just a stream of syllables with no meaning attached.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Laughs off getting hit by a car since she doesn't want anyone to worry.
* TheMedic: Her ability to create shields includes the ability to create a shield that heals the injuries of the one enclosed. This ability mystifies everyone who sees it, and a number of characters have speculated about what her ability is really doing and what its limits may be. Due to her compassionate nature, this is one of the abilities she excels at; she is hinted to be the most gifted healer in the story, being able to restore to its original condition even things that have been completely obliterated. She can even "heal" Zanpakuto that have been broken in Bankai - something Mayuri previously described as impossible for anyone who isn't Komamura.
* MistakenForDyed: Just like Ichigo, Orihime often gets into trouble over her natural orange hair being confused for dye.
* MsFanservice: She dresses modestly but there's still plenty of focus on her boobs and legs. She goes through a BoundAndGagged situation, and she spends an entire episode in a bikini. When she returns from Hueco Mundo in the final arc, Urahara has tricked her into wearing a very immodest dress that contains both a CleavageWindow and an exposed midriff.
* MundaneUtility: In the epilogue, Orihime is using the Shun Shun Rika to keep watch over her son whenever the boy wanders off.
* NeutralFemale: Orihime has some of the most powerful barrier abilities in the story, but even when she successfully shields her friends in battle, saving their lives in the process, she will often be told to stay out of the fighting and on the sidelines for her own good. Multiple characters have realised that her delicate personality is not suited for battle, so everyone tries to keep her out of the fighting as much as possible. During the TimeSkip, she learns how to use her shields to reflect attacks back at the attacker and during the final arc, Ichigo finally asks her to fight by his side against the BigBad because he knows he needs her BarrierWarrior abilities to keep him fighting.
* NeverGotToSayGoodbye: Her brother and guardian Sora Inoue died right after their only serious fight. She did get to say goodbye to him after he reappeared as a Hollow.
* NiceGirl: Orihime's easily one of the most affectionate, kind-hearted, and polite characters in the series. How kind is she? To the point that when she becomes jealous of Rukia's bond with Ichigo, rather than becoming bitter or hostile, she gushes about how wonderful and amazing Rukia is and how bad she feels to be jealous of such a good person. Rangiku herself notes this as a reason why Ichigo needs Orihime as much as he needs Rukia and why she is a truly good person herself. She even healed Harribel and her Fraccions despite their affiliation with the Espada.
* TheNoseKnows: She is shown early on to possess the ability to detect Ichigo by scent. However, the scent is often how sensing Reiatsu is described (the Soul Reapers often comment on smelling Hollow Reiatsu) and therefore was probably nothing more than an early sign that she had developed Reiatsu-sensing powers.
* OfficialCouple: After spending the series teasing something between the two, the epilogue reveals Ichigo and Orihime are HappilyMarried and have a son, Kazui.
* ParentalAbandonment: In the anime, Sora doesn't reference their parents' abuse, and says he raised Orihime after they were abandoned.
* PersonalityPowers: An interesting example, in that her most powerful abilities are those related to defense and healing due to her pacifistic nature. While she is capable of using her power to attack directly, her lack of aggression reduces its effectiveness. Theoretically her attack power could cut through anything if she were determined enough, and over the course of the series she's become more willing to counterattack, but she still lacks lethal intent and is thus incapable of, say, cutting someone in half.
* ThePollyanna: Back in the old days of ''Bleach'', she was very chipper and upbeat, which led fans and characters alike would think of her as weird or even crazy. After the end of her BreakTheCutie ordeals, she's back to her old self, but has learned from her experiences.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations: Her brother was 15 years older than she was; at the time of his death, he was 27 and she was 12. Because of that, he says that he thought of Orihime as more of a daughter than a sister.
* PseudoRomanticFriendship: Her relationship with Tatsuki, early in the series, was often framed this way.
* RealityWarper: Her powers are revealed to have this quality to them, by "Rejecting" things (usually injuries and even fatalities), but are limited by both her emotional state and what she personally believes is possible or not. Hacchi advises her that where mastering her power is concerned, she needs to remember that she shouldn't think of how the world works but how she wants the world to work. Notably, when Yhwach, now a PhysicalGod, tries attacking her shields, even with his powers being capable of affecting reality and time, he cannot initially break them.
* RiddleForTheAges: Unlike Chad's Fullbring powers, the origin or nature of Orihime's Shun Shun Rikka is never really explained. [[spoiler: At least, until the second volume of the novel ''Can't Fear Your Own World'', when Urahara names both she and Chad as Fullbringers, and reveals that all Fullbringers have pieces of the Soul King within them.]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Inverted - in the final arc, Urahara gives her a dress that exposes her entire stomach and a great deal of cleavage. She's embarrassed by the amount of skin it shows, but wears it because he tells her Ichigo will like it.
* ShesBack: After suffering a great deal of psychological trauma at the hands of Aizen and his Arrancar, she returns to her good old goofy self after the TimeSkip.
* ShipperOnDeck: ''We Do Knot Always Love You'' has Orihime cry TearsOfJoy when Rukia and Renji told her of their engagement.
* SignatureHairDecs: She received a set of hairpins from her brother which she uses to channel her powers. She no longer wears them after the timeskip, keeping them attached to her lapels instead, but in the Thousand Year Old Blood War she eventually puts them back on.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Orihime even stated that if she was reincarnated with five different lives she would still fall in love with Ichigo.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: The reason behind her deep love for Ichigo? First, his funny face. Later, his kindness. And she remains in love with him because she knows first-hand how kind he is under his tough-guy facade.
* SkilledButNaive: Orihime has black-belt martial arts ability. She also has a one-hit kill ability that is potentially devastating. The snag is that she is too idealistic and soft-hearted to be able to function as a warrior. The end result is someone who struggles to possess the mentality for battle which affects her skills and power. After the Arrancar Arc where Aizen enacted a plan to emotionally break her, she begins working very hard to find a way to be more useful on the battlefield than simply healing and shielding. This enables her to develop further barrier abilities, like creating protective shields that simultaneously turn an attacker's power back on themselves.
* SparklingStreamOfTears: In the process of saying goodbye to an unconscious Ichigo before departing for captivity in Hueco Mundo, Orihime pours her heart out to him, including confessing her feelings. The intensity of the moment leads to her nearly kissing him, but she pulls back at the last minute and tears up over her behaviour.
* StayInTheKitchen: She ''does'' want to be helpful, but she's frequently told that she lacks the aggressive mindset to utilize her powers properly and is advised to play a support role. When Urahara finally tells her to stay off the battlefield entirely, both Chad and Rukia are insulted on her behalf - none of them realise until too late what Urahara's ulterior motives for the request really are (to keep her safe from Aizen's grasp). Towards the end of the final arc, Ichigo finally asks her to fight by his side, knowing he'll need her abilities to keep him going against Yhwach.
* StepfordSmiler: She used to hide her issues from the others, though not very well. Discussed during her conversation with Riruka about her past, when the latter is astonished that she can talk about her ParentalAbandonment and her brother's death while happily chowing down on donuts.
* StoryBreakerPower: Orihime possesses a RealityWarper power that is an in-universe mystery. Characters have speculated that she can do anything if she believes she can and that she's never tapped into her full potential. She is exactly as strong as she believes she is, which is both her greatest strength and her greatest weakness: she's so gentle, pacifistic, kind and unassuming that she cannot harm others, not even enemies, and it doesn't occur to her that she can break the laws of physics even when told she can. Most impressively, she can outright NoSell Yhwach's The Almighty when she assists Ichigo in fighting him, and he can only defeat her by having to work around said power.
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: While it can sometimes be attributed to emotional distress (like Ulquiorra blasting a hole in Ichigo's chest), there are also some occasions where her powers, which have gone to the extent of outright reviving someone whose upper half was vaporized, seem to become ineffective simply because they would be too convenient for the plot.
* SuperCuteSuperPowers: Orihime Inoue's abilities come from fairies made from her hairpins. Granted, her offensive fairy is a ScarfOfAsskicking jerkass and her potential abilities are among the greatest in the work, but on paper it's an exceedingly feminine ability.
* SuperpowerLottery: She very much is the winner of one - it's implied by genius-level characters like Aizen that if she had the willingness, she could be a borderline PhysicalGoddess that could "reject" anything with her abilities, via shielding, attacking, or a reversal of reality. The only thing that keeps her ability from being an outright StoryBreakerPower is that she's such a sweet girl that the notion of fighting scares her, so her abilities are relegated to being mainly supportive. That said, she's easily one of the best healers by the end of the narrative, and she can NoSell damn near anyone with her shields, even later creating shields that can reflect damage back at someone.
* TalkingWeapon: Taken to the extreme with six different characters personifying her powers. The two most like her (Shun-o: [[TheMentor outgoing and friendly]], Ayame: [[ShrinkingViolet shy and sweet]]) are her strongest power, the [[HealingHands Soten Kisshun]]. The one least like her (Tsubaki: aggressive and bossy) is not only her attack power but easily her weakest. By using Tsubaki ''[[AttackReflector in combination with others]]'' (Hinagiku, Lily and Baigon) she can draw on his attack potential.
* TenderTears: Orihime has a very gentle, compassionate heart, and seeing people getting injured in front of her, especially if they're trying to protect her, can drive her to tears. During the Arrancar Arc, she is initially fearful of Ichigo's Hollow Mask while he is fighting Grimmjow, fearing that Ichigo will become lost to the Hollow like her brother was. However, once she witnesses him getting hurt, she cries out to him, with tears in her eyes, begging him not to be hurt any more. It strengthens Ichigo's resolve immediately.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Rukia and Orihime have had a close friendship ever since Rukia first empowered Ichigo. The tomboy appears to be Rukia, with her rough-tempered, physically violent personality and soldier lifestyle. The girly girl appears to be Orihime, with her gentle, protective and peaceful personality and aversion to violence. However, when given is the choice, Rukia wears loose dresses, reads romance novels and adores cartoon artwork and bunnies while Orihime sometimes wears traditionally boyish clothes and is quietly a black-belt martial artist who is into sci-fi and robots, sharing her boys' comics with her male friends.
* TookALevelInBadass: Orihime's initial strength comes from healing injuries and shielding others from harm with her barrier abilities. However, she doesn't have the mentality required for fighting and battles distress her. During the Arrancar Arc, this enables Aizen to create a hostage scenario that forces Orihime to emotional breaking point. During the TimeSkip that follows this experience, Orihime spends months training to fight in a way that manages her pacifistic world view; she develops the ability to create shields that don't just shield people from harm, they now simultaneously deflect attacks back to onto the attacker. By the finale of the series, she's trusted as a warrior by Ichigo enough that he asks her to come with him for the final battle, and she proves herself able to make shields powerful enough that [[PhysicalGod Yhwach]] can't break them.
* TouchedByVorlons: Ichigo's leaking spiritual pressure awakened her own natural abilities, a feat that was helped by the Hogyoku. Later written material also make her a Fullbringer, revealing part of the reason she gained powers at all was because of Hollow spiritual pressure that was part of her.
* TragicKeepsake: The hairpin she always wears in her hair was the last gift she was given by her older brother before he was killed in a traffic accident.
* TraumaButton: Seeing Ichigo using his Hollow Mask brings up painful memories of her Hollowfied brother, and when he Hollowfies during the final battle against Yhwach she has a flashback to when he lost control against Ulquiorra and is afraid he's done so again. In a subversion, the last one has her recovering her wits soon, contrasting with the first scene where she broke down sobbing.
* TurnTheOtherCheek: Loly and Menoly (mostly the former) sneak into her cell in Las Noches to beat her to a pulp, leaving her face a swollen mess by the time Grimmjow arrived and [[VillainousRescue mauled them both]], yet she took the time to heal them. They try it again while Ichigo is fighting Ulquiorra and once again get mauled, this time by Yammy just to pass time when Ulquiorra won't let him help. Loly assumes that Orihime must find it hilarious they're getting roughed up after coming to rough her up... and is stunned when Orihime ''still'' heals her.
* WetBlanketWife: During the Arrancar Arc, an emotionally distressed Orihime was constantly worried about Ichigo getting hurt or injured fighting on her behalf, she even resists Grimmjow by refusing to heal Ichigo if it means enabling the pair to fight again. Her behaviour is so pacifistic for a genre that caters to fans who want to read fights that her lack of battle-appropriate mentality is {{lampshade|Hanging}}d in-universe too. Her strengths instead come from shielding others from harm and healing those that are harmed, and as such they increase as she manages to handle this.
* WindsOfDestinyChange: The core of her powers. The command phrase for her powers is "I reject", as in fate.
* WingdingEyes: Used for gag purposes at the beginning of the Lost Agent arc.
-->'''Ichigo''': How are you doing that? [[LampshadeHanging Your eyes look like 3s]].\\
'''Tatsuki's thoughts''': Orihime's really gotten better with her face gags.
* WomenAreDelicate: Throughout the series, she embodies this to a "T" with her unwillingness to cause harm, her dainty and merciful manners and her lack of fortitude whenever confronted with physical viiolence.
* WorldsMostBeautifulWoman: She's considered the most beautiful student at Karakura High. Near the beginning of the series, Kon mentions how all the girls of the school are all above average in looks, and even then Orihime stands out among them. At some point she's followed around by a bunch of completely smitten younger boys; later, when a young man named Moe Shishigawara was tasked with attacking her, a mere look from her (complete with sparkles) was enough to leave him starstruck and unable to attack.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: After Yammy's first visit to the World of the Living leaves Ichigo's friends badly injured, only Rukia is able to fix Ichigo's damaged resolve. Orihime feels a mixture of love and jealousy for Rukia's ability to cheer up Ichigo, not comprehending that her inability to cheer up Ichigo was due to Ichigo's deep guilt over being unable to prevent Orihime from being injured. She pours out her heart to Rangiku, who resolves the situation by pointing out that Ichigo needs both her and Rukia, but in different ways. When Urahara then removes Orihime from the battlefield (for reasons he failed to mention), it is Rukia who steps in to tell Orihime how valued she is and how grateful she is for Orihime's help in rescuing her from execution.

* AloofArcher: The self-proclaimed last Quincy, Uryu primarily fights with a bow and arrows made of spiritual energy, and takes great pride in maintaining the traditions of his people. He also tends to be stoic and logical, in stark contrast to Ichigo's brash attitude.
