* AmbiguousGender: Appears in ''Suruga Devil'' wearing a boy's uniform and says she's always been a boy, but is also heard muttering that she'd forgotten she's no longer female. Given Ougi's true nature it's possible gender is irrelevant.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His actions make things worse at least as often as they make things better due to having the wrong motivations for trying to help people. Namely, he wants to die for someone and occasionally just die period. He helps revive a maneating monster by offering her his life, he reinforces Nadeko's narcissism and he tries to die for Suruga when this would only make her feel like a murderer, all within or even before the first season of the anime. He does grow somewhat better as he realizes the proper ways to actually help people, as shown in Nisemonogatari with his sisters, but he still screws up sometimes, like reinforcing Hanekawa's emotional repression issues.

* ChronicHeroSyndrome: He places almost no value on his life and doesn't seem to realize how his death would affect the people around him. As a result, he's willing to die for complete strangers like a certain dying vampire princess at the beginning of Kizumonogatari. Senjogahara finds this behavior kinda hot, but eventually realizes what actually fuels his acts of heroism, especially in Nadeko Snake. Further, he's unable to become a priest and deal with oddities properly because he refuses to abandon Shinobu.
