* WritingAboutYourCrime: The episode "Ghosts" has the team discover that the BodyOfTheWeek, a fugitive ecoterrorist, was having a TrueCrime author ghost-write a tell-all about the bombing of an oil tanker in the Seventies. They theorize she was trying to manipulate public opinion ahead of surrendering herself for trial.

* StripPoker: The 6th season episode "Law and Boarder" ends with Castle and Beckett playing strip poker. At the end, Becket is down to her bra and Castle is wearing a shirt which he says is the last thing he's got left to bet (we only see them from the waist up). Both players go all-in, but don't even bother seeing their cards or taking off their last garments - instead they start making out, and we cut to the end credits.

Added DiffLines:

* SexySoakedShirt: In the season six episode "In the Belly of the Beast", Beckett is waterboarded by criminals after her cover is blown. The water makes her already tight, black sweater so clingy that she might as well be wearing body paint (though it stays opaque and she's wearing a bra underneath). Given the context, the scene is played not so much for FanService as to accentuate her vulnerability by, in effect, removing a layer of protection.

* SeriesFauxnale: The Season 7 finale "Hollander's Woods" doesn't end on a CliffHanger like most other season finales do. This is primarily because at the time of writing and filming, the show's possible Season 8 renewal was still up in the air. So, instead the episode ends with an AndTheAdventureContinues note (everyone leaves to investigate a new murder, after Castle receives a literature award). It's also interesting that the final scene is one of very few instances in which all the main cast members are present in the same scene (even Captain Gates is there!), as well as two supporting characters, Ryan's wife Jenny, and the tech cyber expert Tori. There was also some question as to if Stana Katic would return even if the show was renewed, thus the side plot of Kate questioning whether she should take an offer to , which is clearly the writers setting up a PutOnABus situation. Thankfully, Katic signed on for a Season 8, once the show was officially renewed.
** Coincidentally, the Season 8 finale, had the show been renewed, would have ended on another CliffHanger. When it got canceled (after an announcement that Stana Katic would not be back for Season 9 anyway), the producers tacked on a BabiesEverAfter ending.
* SexlessMarriage: A profiler accuses Beckett of sleeping with Castle and they both deny it, Castle mentioning:
-->Castle: No, she's right. Aside from my second wife, this is the most sexless relationship I've ever been in.
* ShoutOut: The "nebula nine" episode shouts out to Star Trek and Firefly.
* ShooTheDog: Beckett tries this with Castle to protect him from LocSat in Season 8. It doesn't work.

* SeriesFauxnale: "Hollander's Woods" is the first season finale since Season 2 that didn't have a cliffhanger of some sort, and the first finale where the ending was totally clean. It did leave hooks should the series be renewed for Season 8, which it was (Castle's disappearance; Beckett's possible Senate run), but from the way it ended it would have made a passable series-ender.

** As of Seaosn 8, both Rita and have laid into Beckett for putting her marriage in jeopardy to pursue a path of revenge that has little to do with her. Even though deep down, it seems like she agrees with them, she's already set on following this through to the end.
