* Another one from Cliff: When Theo's "colloquy" ends up destroying the house, Cliff drags him to the Army Recruitment Center. Even though that fails, the alternate solution is still very fitting. It gets a follow-up in season 8 when Cliff and Clair punish Rudy ''and her friends'' with something similar after one of their escapades.

Golden Moment was merged into Lesson Of The Day Speech, moving examples that fit there.

** Season 6: So Vanessa sneaked off to Baltimore for a concert and lied about its location. Getting her car, tickets, and money stolen become the least of her worries when she finds Clair waiting for her back in New York. Let's put it this way: There's no GoldenMoment to SentimentalMusicCue moment or acceptance hug later, just one of the most pants-shittingly "GO TO BED!!" moments in TV history.

** Note the MeaningfulBackgroundEvent of Cliff nodding in approval at Sondra's rant. He knew or suspected all along that this would be the result of Clair's actions and is 100% on his daughter's side.

He knew or suspected all along that this would be the result of Clair's actions and is 100% on his daughter's side. And related to the above post, it's one of the few times he gets a leg up on Clair, smugly serving her tea and gloating at how chastened she is.

* Walter "Cockroach" Bradley gets an off-screen one in season 2 when he gets Mrs. Westlake's class back in line to prepare for the last test she was giving them when they were fooling around and making the substitute's teacher's experience miserable.

Added DiffLines:

* Season 5: While babysitting Nelson and Winnie, Cliff tells them about his brother James, who died of rheumatic fever at the age of seven. Even though James had severe breathing problems, that didn't stop him from punching a kid in the eye for making fun of him. (Qualifies as a RealitySubtext, as Bill Cosby did have a brother named James who died of this same illness, but at six rather than seven.)

Slight grammar fix.

* In "Theo's Holiday", despite clearly being flummoxed by the scenario his family has setup, Theo does his best to get the hang of it, even showing up with Cockroach as his "boss" (his "landlord" won't rent without proof of employment). Cliff laughs, but is also clearly genuinely impressed--it's obvious that he didn't expect that.
