** Third time's the charm! This game was the first time Bowser's new VA stepped up to bat, Mr. Kenny James. And good lord, did he make a first impression. It's no wonder he's been a mainstay since; he actually makes Bowser sound like a monster. For the game that takes the "Castle and Dragon" plot across the cosmos, fitting that Bowser sound more menacing than ever before.

** On that note, Bowser's encounters in general. Taking cues from his having taking a level in badass a mere generation ago, Bowser ups his game this time; he outright takes over Peach's Castle for the first of many times in this series, steals the source of its power, and puts his hold on pretty much every area of the castle by creating 15 different worlds that you have to explore. And then come the levels where you trek up to Bowser; you go through a gauntlet more similar to the games of old, complete with "Koopa's Road" playing as it builds up to your confrontation, complete with each having a Power Star to boot (2 in the DS remake). At the end of the level you fight the scaly king of the Koopas himself, who across the different battles uses several abilities such as a huge stomp attack, a charge attack, his signature fire breath, and even teleportation. As stated above, you have to throw him into a bomb to do any damage at all. Then comes "Bowser in the Sky". Pretty much everything is thrown at you this time, and the end has you fighting Bowser with an even more awesome tune in the background, forcing you to hit him three times to win, and after the second hit he makes the entire ground crumble, revealing a star shape and requiring your aim to be true to even hit the bomb. There's a reason why Mario is the ultimate hero of gaming, especially after this fight.

** In VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker, it can be used on the VideoGame/SuperMarioBros and VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3 level choices, you can use the Goomba's Shoe. The VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld and VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU levels use Yoshi instead.

* The first appearance of Mecha-Bowser, combined with the CrowningMusicOfAwesome and the fact that he actually breathes fire at the screen. It also helps that Mario OOCIsSeriousBusiness is actually stunned, though that might have to do with ; it's still an awesome reaction nonetheless.

* Bowser's entrance in this game. To put this into perspective, his first confrontations with Mario were a bit of an anticlimax. Come to this boss, and for the first time in his long career, Bowser drops the act and introduces the Koopa Clown Car, which itself makes a grand entrance by slowly entering the screen until it's in full view, and Bowser pokes his head out in all the game's 16 bit glory. And then came the fight itself. This was when Bowser first earned his mantle as the King of the Koopas, and he hasn't let that title go ever since.
