When 11-year-old Satomi Nishiyama(nickname Limit) is critically injured in an airplane crash, her scientist father saves her life by turning her into a cyborg. Now she has a number of superpowers at her disposal, but she must also keep her robotic nature a secret from her peers.

* DevelopmentGag: Satomi's nickname of 'Limit' comes from [[WhatCouldHaveBeen the series' original proposal]], in which she was given a time limit of one year to live after her accident. Toei thought it was too grim, so changed it to a SliceOfLife MagicalGirl story.

Limit-chan was created by ToeiAnimation from an original idea by Hiromi Productions. She got the time slot on NET that had been reserved for MagicalGirl series since {{Sally the Witch}}, while another Magical Girl cyborg - the same animation studio/broadcaster's ''Anime/CuteyHoney'' - was retooled as a more action-oriented series and got a different time slot. It was Honey, however, who proved more popular.

She got the time slot on NET that had been reserved for MagicalGirl series since {{Sally the Witch}}, while another Magical Girl cyborg - the same animation studio/broadcaster's {{CuteyHoney}} - was retooled as a more shonen-oriented series and got a different time slot. It was Honey, however, who proved more popular. After Limit-chan's early cancellation, Hiromi Productions contracted Toei to create a new magical girl show following the traditional tropes of Sally but with some of the naughtiness of Honey, and the result was {{Majokko Meg-chan}}, which would become a bigger international hit than Limit or Honey.

This show is noteworthy also for being the first production on which Toei outsourced some of the animation work to a Korean studio.
