* GoshDangItToHeck: Dukemon got a moment in the dub before soaring off to help free Jeri from the Kernel Sphere. It would have been pretty badass if he hadn't said it in ''Guilmon's voice'':

** In "Runaway Digimon Express", Ruki has problems trusting ''adults'' -- she's upset that her family is in on her not-so-surprise party before she is, her mother Rumiko is carrying what is heavily implied to be a present for her, the instant Yamaki calls her she passes her phone off wordlessly to Takato and later claims to not trust adults, and then there's her quite conspicuous Flashback about another certain adult to make suggestions about all of this. "Runaway Locomon" instead focuses on how she mistrusts Yamaki specifically, making it look more like ArbitrarySkepticism.[[note]]Of course, the last time she trusted Yamaki and his allies, she lost her partner[[/note]].
* EasternZodiac: Devas consist of twelve antagonistic Digimons, each representing an animal from the eastern zodiac. [[spoiler: The rabbit Deva, Antylamon, became the partner of Henry's little sister after devolving into Lopmon]].And if we take in account certain events, [[spoiler: Impmon / Beelzemon]] could be considered the cat Deva, even if it wasn't mentioned officially, or even considered a proper Deva. Let's see... His appearance resembling a cat (sorta)? Check. [[spoiler: Beelzemon]]'s powers coming from a Deva? Check. He couldn't be detected at first by the Digivices? Check. The tamers confusing [[spoiler: Beelzemon]] for a Deva the next time he appears after his debut? Check. As said before, that's just a possibility.

* IWishItWereReal: Guilmon.

to:

* IWishItWereReal: Guilmon.Guilmon was born from Takato's imagination and a disastrous amount of AppliedPhlebotinum.

* MalignantPlotTumor: The Runaway Digimon Express in ''Runaway Digimon Express'', by virtue of the fact that the introduction is the perfect setup for an ''entirely different film''. A-Plot: The gang's trying to throw Ruki a birthday, B-Plot: Takato struggles to keep it a secret, C-Plot: Ruki's working through her trust issues, D-Plot: Takato botched it and now Ruki's upset with him. It's only not a true PlotTumor because technically Locomon is the first thing we see in the film.

* {{Mukokuseki}}: Zigs and zags all over the place. Henry and his dad are drawn with obviously chinese features, but his sister has... purple hair. Hirokazu and Kenta look Japanese enough, and Takato is even passably - but there's no telling what Jeri and Rika are supposed to be. The adult secondary characters don't help swing it one way or another, either.
* MultipleHeadCase: Ebonwumon

* MultipleHeadCase: EbonwumonEbonwumon, a colossal turtle with two heads. The dub amuses itself by having one head speak Irish and the other Scottish.

* ConspiracyTheorist: In "The Messenger", Professor Tetsuo Uchiharato. While being interviewed by the news, he reveals what he knows about Hypnos, and believes that the program was responsible for the [[spoiler:D-Reaper]] and Digimon. Unlike most Theorists, he's not overtly paranoid (though he should be, as he works at ''[[CthulhuMythos Miskatonic University]]''), is creditable, backs up his reasoning, and is partly ''right''.

* EvolvingCredits: The japanese opening changes to reveal who the shadowed figures are as they are revealed in the show. The english opening subverts this by constantly using the first version of the crowd shot.

** The Digivices were somehow unexpectedly designed to scan fanart of digimon, [[spoiler:just like how Takato created guilmon]], and design to work on fake digimon cards that were drawn; like drawings, sketchbooks, fan art, and etc, [[spoiler:just like the blue card that Kazu drew so Takato can use it to make Growlmon digivolve into WarGrowlmon in order to defeat Indramon]].

* {{Badass}}: Beelzemon. He starts out as a BadAssBiker, but becomes even more badass when he becomes [[spoiler:TheAtoner, changes from black to dark grey, and later grows wings in his Blast Mode.]]
** The heroes respond by producing Gallantmon/Dukemon.
** Megidramon, whose mere existence ''threatens the stability of the Digital World itself''.
** Really, any of the three main partner Digimon. They each took on enemies a level higher than them on a regular basis and often won. This when on average the difference in power between one evolutionary level and the next is usually depicted as being about an order of magnitude.
