* TheRival: Zero becomes rivals with nearly everyone. First it was Shinobu in the first episodes. Then he and Kite became rivals when the Synchrome arc kicks in. Afterwards, he develops a rivalry with Sakyo that evokes similarities to their idols Gingka and Ryuga respectively. However, he also focuses on Kira at the same time due to the conflict with DNA. Then, Shinobu became completely focused on Kira as well, partly for breaking his arm and resorts to creating a new special move to defeat Kira, [[spoiler: only for that to fail when Kira ends up with a completely different bey]]. Kite becomes this to Kira and Yoshio because the latter defeated his brother and himself as well and Kira for being the one who stole the Sychrome data. In fact, Kite nearly hurts Zero for defeating Yoshio. Ren becomes this to Genjuro after losing to him and vows revenge, which develops further in the ''Return Of DNA'' arc.

The beyblades now revolve around a "[[PowerCrystal crystals]]" theme and they are used in "zero gravity" battles. There's also a new bey-stadium, one with three corner pits. The plot takes place seven years after the end of ''Anime/MetalFightBeyblade''. Zero Kurogane is the protagonist who, inspired by Ginga's acts of heroism, pushes himself to become the best at beyblading.

It premiered in the Western world in mid-August 2013, under the name ''Beyblade: Shogun Steel''.
