** {{Averted|Trope}} and played straight. In "To Cut A Woman's Hair", after Finn learns that he doesn't specifically need princess hair to save Jake from a witch, he cuts off his RapunzelHair (which, incidentally, was revealed for the first time in the series). From then on, whenever his hair is depicted, it shown being slightly longer than the last time it was last seen. Then in "Davey" (which was three seasons later), he cuts it again to adopt a disguise. By "A Glitch is a Glitch" (which was only a few episodes later), his hair's back to the sheer length it was when it was first revealed.

** Let's face it, they're pretty prone to this despite their efforts. [[spoiler: Jake having Fire Princess released to cheer Finn up only to find she was evil. Not only that but it was later revealed there was a reason she was in her prison in the first place as her unstable emotions could potentially destroy the whole world. Then there's Finn attacking prematurely during the trial with Abe Lincoln who was starting to believe that Magic Man (really Jake in his body. MM had switched them around to avoid capture) wasn't who he said he was. Resulting in Jake getting accidentally vaporized and Lincoln having to sacrifice himself to revive him. Oh yeah and giving the The Enchiridion to a bear who was under The Litch's control.]]

** Owing to her status as a PragmaticHero, Bubblegum got away with a lot of despicable acts such as complete genocide on her creations of Rattleballs out of paranoia, imprisons Flame Princess inside a lantern and later tries to experiments her, convinces someone to sacrifice themseves, acting completely rude towards the entire wizards of Ooo, attempted to break up and kill both Finn and Flame Princess in "Burning Low" without explaining why, ruins Tree Trunks and sabotage the entire Fire Kingdom military along with the death of at least one innocents. All with neither any remorse, sympathy, nor any apologizes to anyone for her own wrongdoings.

misuse — Real Dreams Are Weirder is about weird ordinary dreams being contrasted with sensible magical or metaphorical dreams, not just about the fact that dreams are generally weird
* RealDreamsAreWeirder: Season 4 episode "Worm King" manages to be surprisingly realistic in its portrayal of dreams. Finn and Jake randomly change location without question or comment (mostly) while hugely strange things initially only make them suspicious as though they can't put their finger on what's wrong. [[spoiler: Waking up into another dream makes them think they've woken up for real]] until they look in a mirror, a common way for people to notice they're dreaming in real life and become lucid because the brain doesn't know what it looks like in a mirror and presents a deformed image. Finn summons things by stating that they will occur. The random nature of the surrealistic events that occur and how they flow into one-another is very close to dreams in real life. And it is very, very weird.

** Princess Bubblegum and Marceline both change their hairstyles a lot, and they can either be long or short. They don't seem to need much time to grow it back. ** In addition, the Ice King has lost his beard three times: shaved off in "Loyalty to the King" (Finn did glue it back on, but presumably he didn't keep it like that), blasted off in "Mystery Dungeon," and a HairReboot in "Betty." In each instance he was back to full beardiness in his next appearance (the third instance being [[NoOntologicalInertia in seconds]], no less). The Ice King's beard growth is {{justified}} because it is a result of his crown which causes his beard to grow and skin to turn pale blue and cold as he looses himself in its powers (as shown in "Simon and Marcy")
