* Don Bluth's ''WesternAnimation/{{Thumbelina}}'' features Jodi Benson voicing a redhead who wishes to find love with someone of a different species - who also has most characters comment on her beautiful singing voice. It wasn't the first time she lent her voice to such a film, that also happened to be based on [[Disney/TheLittleMermaid a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale]].

* In ''Planes'', two minor characters are Bravo and Victor, two Navy F-18s, who feel "The Need for Speed". The characters were voiced by Creator/AnthonyEdwards and Creator/ValKilmer, both of whom flew fighter jets in ''Film/TopGun''. Well...both were in TopGun, but Edwards character was a Radar Intercept Officer (RIO), not a pilot...er, [[InsistentTerminology "naval aviator"]]

Added DiffLines:

** A similar joke (bordering on SelfDepreciation) has Chief Bogo snapping that "life isn't some cartoon musical where you sing a little song, and your insipid dreams magically come true. So [[SignatureSong let it go."]] You'd better believe the reference to ''Frozen's'' most popular song is deliberate.

Added DiffLines:

* ''WesternAnimation/InsideOut'' has an example similar to the ''Meet The Robinsons'' one above. Anger is constantly seen reading a newspaper that updates him on things in Riley's life, wears a white button-down shirt and tie, and, as to be expected, has a HairTriggerTemper. He's voiced by Creator/LewisBlack, who is famous for his "angry yelling" comedy persona. Black also wears the same clothes for his stand-up act, and often uses stories from newspapers as fodder for jokes. This is all very deliberate--during the first pitch meeting of the movie, the writers, perhaps jokingly, told the studio heads to imagine getting different people to voice the emotions, specifically remarking "We could get Lewis Black to play Anger!" Sure enough, that's exactly what happened.
** Another mild example: Sadness, who wears a soft sweater and large glasses, is voiced by Phyllis Smith, who's best known for playing Phyllis on ''Series/TheOfficeUS.'' Smith's outfits on the show are almost identical to the one Sadness wears.

** Near the beginning, Roddy (played by Creator/HughJackman) is trying on different clothes. At one point, he tries a {{Wolverine}} costume, referencing Jackman's role as Wolverine in the ''Film/XMen'' movies.
** This isn't the first time Creator/IanMcKellen has played a character who's [[Film/XMen trying to get rid of a species he considers inferior, only to be defeated by Hugh Jackman.]]
